Nice Little Course
Course was fun and pretty straightforward. Nothing too challenging, and was having some small repair done around. But not bad at all. Greens were difficult and small but well maintained. The only thing that could use improvement was the bunkers needed raked, sifted, and shown a little more love. Beer in the clubhouse was cheap $20 six packs mix your own. Food was good post round and had a turn house as well which was nice.
For $50 for 18 riding. Great value and will certainly be going back.
Where’s the sand!
Can’t complain about the price, did a Golf Now Hot Deal. Greens were in pretty good condition, tee boxes and fairway and rough in good condition. The condition bunkers is what will keep me from paying more than $25 to play this course. Filled with either weeds or very little sand, I’d rather hit off the cart path. Either fill them in with dirt and sod or get some sand. Would certain never pay $65 on the weekends would rather pay $80/$85 elsewhere for a better maintained course
5 hour round
Play this course a lot, it’s typically mildly slow (4-4.5 hours). But this round took 5 hours. Horrible. Too many inexperienced golfers with lack of basic etiquette. They sent a ranger out a few times but they didn’t seem too concerned. 9 minute tee time intervals plus cart path only, due to rain. Not the best recipe for success. Also, 90% of sand bunkers are unplayable.
Good experience
This is the second time I have played this course. Both times it has been a great experience.
Red Beard grounds crew
The grounds crew member with the red beard was a complete d-bag. Liked yelling at people to get the carts on the path even though it was 90’ per the starter but when it comes to this tool bag shutting down the mower when he was next to you when you were taking a shot he just kept right on going. Total douche.
Golf
A favorite course, but this going trend of pace of play and lack of course etiquette is getting annoying.
Course is nice, bunkers are crap - stones/gravel/sand mix.
5.5 hours for a round is unacceptable on any day of the week, no course ranger but there was a staffer in a cart constantly driving around with water and collecting trash; as well, a cart person with food and beverages so thumbs up there. Please, trade one or both for a ranger or two. On hole 3, blind shot, I took my cart and drove past the blind spot and the golfers were circling in their carts, looking for their golf balls and not ready for their shots, with a cleared green for about 2-3 minutes.
Also, had a 2-some behind us hit their tee shots into us 3 or 4 times (mainland does have blind shots - however, golfers should drive up to the blind spots to assure their shots are clear) and then the 2-some asked to play-through on hole 10, at the turn, with a 4-some in the fairway, a 4-some on the tee, and the 4-some I was a part of - getting food at the turn, behind all of these groups. This 2-some behind us also walked up to the tee box a few times - as we were waiting for the green to clear, on hole 4, par 3, assuming that we were standing there with an open green.
It was a beautiful day, yes, but not worth $65. Pace of play and course etiquette have deteriorated, and it appears mainland has no problem with that.
