Bring water and lots of golf balls
First time playing. Literally no one on the course at 1 PM on summer weekday. The good - most holes had interesting design and a lot of elevation changes. Relatively cheap compared to golf in neighboring NJ. The bad: No amenities on course - zero water, layout precludes visit to clubhouse at turn, frankensteinian layout requires driving golf cart for miles between holes mostly on residential streets. Greenskeeper must have been on vacation for a year - tee boxes burned to crisp, fairways splotchy, greens dying off. A lot of long forced carries so if you can't drive it 230+ you won't survive. The worst is that there was no drinking water on the course - pure contempt as we didn't bring water with us. Golf cart was rickety and scary going down the many steep inclines.
Fun Course but too spead out and poor condition
I played this course with my son. I have never played a course with so much driving between holes. Unfortunately the conditoin of the course was poor. Tee boxes and fairways burned but most of the greens were decent. We still had a fun day.
Brown grass
I think the country club of the Poconos dropped the ball on Irragation the spring. Most of the tea boxes were completely brown grass, and some of the greens were partially brown. Hopefully they will be able to recede and recover.
Tough Conditions
Tess, fairways and greens were in horrible shape. Burnt out all over the place in June! Unacceptable. Pace of play was interminable. Can't recommend it at all.
Play any where else, avoid!!!
Course should be closed either for renovations or permanently, front nine is “ok”, it’s ruff but compared to the back nine it’s “ok”. Making the turn onto 10 the tee box was in poor shape, the fairway was dry compared to others. Some holes on the front nine were like soup, very over watered, greens the same way, soaked. The back nine was missing tee boxes entirely, not a blade of grass to be found, greens had more any hills then grass!! Grounds crew was out watering the 12th, hit my tee shot to the middle of it, and even though they were near by they couldn’t be bothered to turn it off. Conditions got worse after that. Said something to the guy behind the counter and basically got “not my problem”. Much better course exist nearby and you should play those, avoid this course at all costs.
Should not be called Country Club
Horrible course condition.
No amenities.
Rude staff.
Nice track
Pros: nice elevation changes. Reasonably well manicured fairways and greens. Didn’t wait on any hole and never got pushed. Typical Pocono mountain golf.
Cons: some tee boxes are badly burned out. Because it is mountain golf you need to beware of rocks (especially hidden under the surface). Long distances between holes… you have to take your cart on the local roads for quite a while.
I really enjoyed playing and look forward to going back with a better understanding of the course.
Way too slow.. 5-1/2 hour round…
Too big a group ahead of us 6 people.. never seen that before and hope never to see it again… had to wait at every hole(?we were a foursome
Course needs water
This course is usually in decent shape for a municipal course. However, with the current lack of rain and what appears to be extremely limited watering on the course. Most of the greens are still okay but you can tell they are drying out and becoming concrete like. The tee boxes are mostly dirt and like another reviewer, they require a hammer to get the tee in the ground. The fairways are sparse and so dry the ground is cracking open. Any sort of slice or draw is exaggerated because of the conditions.
Hopefully some water on the course will fix the issues but stay away until that occurs.
Greens on back nine crisp. They are working on irrigation.
Good overall condition. Will only get better with irrigation repair.
Parched Conditions
Fairways were so parched the dirt showed in dozens of places and it was so dry it was cracked. Tee boxes were horrible and you needed a hammer to set your tee. Greens bounced anything landing on them into the woods and the grass (what there was) “crinkled" as you walked on it. Sad because it’s a nice track with a challenging layout. I won’t be playing again till we get some rain or they fix whatever watering problem they were having.
