Meadowink Golf Course
Booked on golf now. Excellent deal. Golf carts are clean and very new. Nice coolers to keep drinks cold. Extremely friendly staff and beautiful club house. Will be going again soon. Greens were in excellent condition, considering all of the recent rain.
Number 1 Priorty is Green and I don't mean the Course
I went golfing with my girlfriend during the day on a Friday. It was a holiday for some and a nice day so it was fairly crowded. We called and reserved a tee time and showed up about 10 minutes early.
Our first issue was with the coupon we purchased online through their website. It should have been scannable at their pro shop where you pay, however, the gentleman didn't know how to scan it so we were charged full price. That was a red flag, but we moved on, figuring we could use the coupon some other time this summer. We were told they were out of carts and we'd have to wait for someone to finish up. We went to our car to grab our equipment and when we got back a foursome had somehow slipped in front of us. This was annoying since we booked out time and would play quicker than a foursome but we weren't in any rush.
The first nine went fairly well. We had to wait to tee off on each hole because of the foursome in front of us and people in front of them. However, as I said we weren't in a rush, we were out to have fun and enjoy the day. There were people behind us as well - at least 2-3 groups that we could see that would sometimes wait behind us as we began to tee off as the foursome in front of us played along.
At the turn we took a quick break to go to the bathroom and moved on to the tenth hole. At this point, there wasn't anyone behind us - those that were behind us must have only been playing nine. By the time we were on the green at 13, we had people behind us teeing off.
We were putting on the green at 14 when a ranger parked behind us, and walked up to the green. While I was putting he told us we needed to speed up and that "the whole course is backed up behind us and no one is in front of us". We looked back and the people directly behind us weren't even finished putting on the previous green. I said "okay, understood". He continued to linger around and said we were not playing fast enough. We needed to play double par and move on - mind you we were playing a max of 8 strokes even on the par 5s. He still stood there. I said okay again. He finally rode off.
At this point my girlfriend and I were upset for being scolded like children when we did nothing wrong. We played through the next hole quickly and decided to call it a day and head home. We wanted to enjoy ourselves and felt we were treated very rudely.
Clearly this course prioritizes money and quick turnover above all else. Luckily, we have other favorite courses in the area - we simply wanted to try a new one. We will not be back to Meadowink again with all the other great courses run by friendly people in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Not bad. Played on a wet day. Don't go after a rainy day!
We went to this course the day after a torrential downpour. I mean, we weren't expecting the course to be dry but maybe a little drier than what was actuslly the case. The course was soaked. It was about 15 hours after the last rain which shows the course didn't have great drainage. Overall, I think if the course was dry it would be an amazing course to play in. Until then, I leave my review at this. I have played plenty of courses in the area after torrential downpours and the drainage was amazing.
Country club attitude at a very average public course
This was my second time playing meadowink and I will never go back. It started with the Ranger saying to my group that we need to pick it up, we finished that hole and waited 5 minutes on the next tee box. I would have understood if we were playing slow for him to say something, but not when you hurry up to wait. it was a slow day on the course i understand that obviously the ranger didn't. The reason I think he said something is bc there was a group of regulars behind us and we think he made a comment to the ranger. I guess that is what you get when you go to Murrysville area. Just very unprofessional and greens were the bumpiest slowest greens i have played all year. The funny part about that is the starter was raving about how unbelievable the greens are. If you live in the Murrysville area drive an extra 15-20 minutes to play a real course.
A much better day than I expectd
There had been some wet weather in the area for a couple of days and was hesitant to even play. However, once we arrived at the course the weather started to clear and it turned out to be a nice day. The course was wet in some areas but they allowed 90 degrees anyway. The greens, fairways and tee boxes were all in good shape. We finished in about 3hours and 45 minutes. Over all the course was in very good shape and it turned out to be a much better round than I expected going into it.
Course needs some areas mowed
We played the course on a Monday, you would think they would have cut the grass before the weekend like most courses.
The rough was beyond US Open conditions and the tee boxes had grass that was too long.
I think this course has chosen to cut back on their maintenance big time.
Meadowink
Golf course in great condition. 1St tee shot is hard, blind tee shot to a elevated fairway.lots of short, uphill and blind shot holes. If you like to hit driver in every par 4 or 5, this course is not for you.
established course
This is a great course for any level of golfer. You can make it as easy or difficult as you choose by selecting the appropriate teeing location. The golfing dollar value was excellent. My friend and I paid a little over $30 for two of us for green fee and cart.
Nice surprise
Very nice course a manageable distance from Pittsburgh. Most golfers I play with in pittsburgh are unfamiliar- but they are missing out. Affordable rates and a unique layout- I especially like the last few holes of the front 9. Always in good condition and well maintained.
Beautiful Day!
The weather was fantastic. The course was in nice shape. The play, however, was a little slow. We had a twosome. There was another twosome in front of us and quite a few foursomes in front of them. This caused us to have to wait at almost every hole. Other than that, it was an enjoyable day. I will definitely golf there again.
Nice conditions, questionable clientele
Game started well, until interrupted with the sprinklers being turned on the 3rd green as we were approaching the tee box. We had to wail 10+ mins for them to shut off the water. Before the turn, the course began to back up and we had to wait on several tee boxes. At the turn, a single was directed to tee off in between us and another two-some and it made our pace even slower. What held us up the whole back nice was a group of 4 less than average golfers that took a lot of time on each hole and would not let groups pass. To top it all off, our golf cart had brake issues and made a terrible noise when we came to a stop.
No birdie for me.
Nice course with some challenging holes. Too many leaves on the ground made for long time to locate ball. Will play again. $$ for value worth it.
Much Improved
Played Meadowink many times years ago and always enjoyed playing there even though my friends don't care for it. The changes made over the years have made a fun layout enen better!
Slow due to outing, but great course
I've played this course many times in a league, but decided to bring my wife for the first time. Was paired with another twosome, very friendly and patient. Would highly recommend!
Meadowink GC
Meadowink was in excellent condition for a public course for August . Some tight holes with generous size greens that were alittle slow but ball mark free which was nice for a change. They even threw in a hotdog and chips an drink for free . Gr8 GolfNow deal.
A Local Spot
This course is a pretty decent golf course on most days. It isn't that challenging (though some holes tick me off), but does provide for a good round with some challenge. The round of golf is usually worth maybe ($20-$25) because the conditions can sometimes slip (especially tee boxes) but overall it's a good course to play just for the fun of playing.
A great time
I arrived 30 minuets early and was greeted by the club pro he had us on the tee box in 5 minuets . We played a quick round on a very well maintained course . We had a nice lunch and was still home early .I will play this course over and over again .
Very nice course for the money.
I really enjoyed playing Meadowink and was very pleased with condition of the course. The course is pretty challenging for your average golfer. The greens didn't have much break to them which helped my putting game! The only negative I have about the course is the ranger was missing in action for most of the day so the pace of play was super slow because of a group of 5.
Meadowink
I haven't play Meadowink in 4 years, I know why the pace of play was terrible I had a twosome and threesome in front of us the twosome hit 6 balls off of one tee we always had 3 groups on a hole all day, and the threesome had a 9 year old playing, course was great condition otherwise just think they need a ranger out to have people speed up play and have children learn before they play on a 18 hole course
bad experience
Super slow. Was told to leave because we skipped ONE hole (par 3) to pass 3 foursomes of older retirees. Will not be back.
