Country View Golf Club

About
Country View Golf Club is situated just 20 minutes north of Providence and just south of the Massachusetts state line. Its convenient location in the Blackstone Valley area is easily accessible from several major highways. The course sprawls across rolling terrain with beautiful trees lining the fairways. It's a player-friendly golf course where you won't find many bunkers or water hazards. Accuracy is needed though to navigate past the many trees and the undulating terrain provides a few tricky uneven lies. Country View G.C. finishes with a tough uphill par 4. This intimidating hole has out-of-bounds to the left and trees on the right and the trouble doesn't end there. The second shot climbs uphill further to a narrow, sloping green. You can try to go long but that can make getting up and down nearly impossible, it would be safer to go short and left.

17th hole, par-3, 199 yards. I really like this seventeenth hole: it is long and slightly uphill; but it also plays to a small green flanked by bunkers. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/28/2025
Don't go
Upon arriving at golf course 8 golf carts on hole number 1 they have no management they have no ranger THEY HAVE NO RANGER NOBODY TO MAKE SURE PLAY KEEPS FLOWING conditions were okay terrible staffing they have no help so the golf course is just a big free-for-all like I said eight golf carts on the first hole when you got to the second hole it was the same thing etc they overbook and they don't care how many people are on the golf course example hole number 6 four groups of people waiting on the tee box because they have NO ORGANIZATION..
A Decent and Friendly Golf Course; The Pace Was Slow
I liked playing Country View Golf Course today, although the experience would have been better had play not been so unnecessarily slow: it seemed like 3-5 minute wait times on every tee of the back nine, and not all that great on the front, either. The staff here is friendly and the course is pleasantly walkable, although most players were in carts (some of them, perhaps, because of the humid weather). The layout, though it is not flashy or difficult, proved to be carefully routed with four or five surprisingly tough golf holes.
Course Strengths:
Some strengths of Country View include some unpredictable variations in greenside bunkering, good use of cross hazards on a pair of back-nine holes, and a couple of longer par-3s, also on the back–which will require excellent tee shots for GIRs. One other impressive greenside trait are some big falloffs behind the greens; these appear almost throughout the front nine. The sixth hole, an intriguing and easily reachable par-5, doubles down on its penalties when you miss the green long; not only is there a steep falloff behind the green, but OOB awaits not far behind it. This makes for an out-of-the-ordinary hole with some real risk/ reward for those going for the green in two. Holes four and nine have greens that can be tricky to hold even with a short iron, as they slope away from the player. The back nine is considerably tougher than the front, with a couple of holes (most notably 14 and 16) that favor a draw off the tee. The last four holes–none of them easy–provide a stimulating finish.
Aesthetics:
I was impressed with the general look of this course, and even though the first three holes looked a bit mundane, the look of the holes rapidly improved from there. Country View’s back nine, especially, is more classic New England, but the front nine also has its moments. Three of the green sites stand out: the sixth, which is set down in a dell; the ninth, with its beautiful backdrop of majestic trees; and the twelfth, with its green set invitingly upon a large knoll.
The main weakness of this layout are a few too many tame holes on the front: short par-4s that only require a driver (because they are so open) and a short iron. To boot, the front side par-3s are okay but also a bit bland. This contributes largely to the easy scratch versus par rating of 64.8 from the white tees (sloping at a low 110). Green design is decent but not elaborate, and some of the greens do tilt significantly. Meadow-like and quite open, the front side’s wide landing zones seem wider still from broad strips of rough alongside them. The front’s general lack of complication also allows for lower scoring; the positive side is that you’ll have some real birdie opportunities on the shorter par-4s.
Best Hole:
Starting as a great driving hole to a wide expanse of fairway, the twelfth narrows down to target golf on the second shot, where you may either try to fly the large and watery cross-hazard or choose to lay up–as close as you dare–in front of it. The green, set tantalizingly upon a large knoll, lies some 50 yards beyond the other side of the hazard.
The fourteenth also deserves mention as an excellent short and strategic hole; it favors a draw off the tee.
Hardest hole:
The fifteenth, creatively nicknamed “Gorilla’s Alley,” may indeed swat you around. With a pond crossing the fairway 250 yards from the blue tees and other hazards looming around it, target golf is again brought into play, and perhaps even more so on the approach, where shots that fall short by ten yards or more short of the green will require difficult and steep uphill pitches to make up-and-downs.
Conditions:
Greens stood out: they were in very good condition, running smoothly and of medium speed. Greenside areas, especially fringes, were good. Tees were a bit below average, and fairways underwhelming; they have too many patchy, rough spots. Roughs were fair–and poor in places.
Some Conclusions:
This is a pleasant and well-isolated course in a pretty setting, which supplies a nice way to enjoy nature. Everyone I met was friendly–in the clubhouse or outside of it–and the gentleman behind the counter was welcoming and easy-going. The clubhouse itself is respectable, yet there is no driving range for a pre-round warmup.
As for the layout, the front nine is basically passable, in my opinion–mainly because it is simply too straightforward–while the back nine’s holes carry more weight: lower handicap players should find more serious challenges here. Intermediate and developing players should find this course’s front side, especially, a match for their skills.

Great value!
The greens were in perfect condition from the first hole to the 18. Very surprised for the green fees which my group paid. The pace were slightly slow in the front nine but we ended up playing for 4.5 hours on a busy Saturday. That's perfect!
Poor track can’t overcome low price
Country View is just not a very good track. Poor fairways, with long grass, weeds and clover. Greens were very slow. Bunkers were either small ponds or packed-cement, terrible. Everything is old and tired looking. The price is low but you don’t get much for your money. I do not recommend this course at all.
Nice Country Course
The course has good aspects and some not so good aspects. The clubhouse is poor at best- old; the greens overall were good, smooth and well maintained. The fairways were a different story, some were ok, but the majority it was hard to distinguish between the rough and fairway. It was a fairly easy walk. I would play other courses before I went back to play this course, but catching a Hot Deal was a nice way to tryout this course.
Not worth Time or money
This course was terrible in every way. First they don’t include the cart on Golf Now so any “deal” you get is immediately canceled out by a $21 per person cart fees. Now if the course was in any kind of good quality I would have eaten that price, but I’ve played here before and I know they haven’t invested anything back into it. The woman running the pro shop was very unpleasant and just wants to take your money and get you out there, no pace of play and she gives you attitude when you ask why the cart fee is so expensive (the carts are old and ratty) Our round took 5 1/2 hours because tee times do not matter. There was a total of maybe 4 holes with a fairway I could make out, anything else was the rough. For a normal price of 64$ a person you should go ANYWHERE else in the state and you will have a better time for a better price. The only pleasant staff there was the cart girl, I will never be back and will be sure to spread the word this course is not worth the time or money.
Goat Pastures in Afghanistan are more appealing
Avoid this place. It won’t be hard. It’s out in the middle of nowhere and yet in the smallest state in the US.
Good track
Good course, some very challenging holes (Gorilla Alley) started at 12:56 and managed to get to hole 10 in plenty of time to beat the 3 o’clock tourney.
A couple of dry spots but they are working on them. The greens were great and the rough around the greens is healthy. I usually play this course a couple times a year
Ok track
Wide open fairways. Tee boxes are ok - could use some
mowing. There are lots of fairway drainage issues that need to be addressed. Very good value for what it is - a practice course. Wish they had a ranger at the turn. 2 hours to play the front on a busy Friday was great. Three hours to play the back was terrible
