The Greens at Deerfield

After having read some of the reviews on this course, I decided to try it out for myself and I’m very happy that I did. While the clubhouse is nothing fancy, the staff was very helpful and seemed happy to be there. The course itself was very interesting and in a good way. I strongly suggest using an 18 Birdies or some other app to help navigate the course because there are quite a few blind shots due to the changes in elevation. The course conditions were very fair and better than some of the reviews on here mention. To be fair, there are a few holes where parts of the green have been lost and need to be fixed, but it was still playable. The fairways and rough were in good shape as well. Only ended up in one bunker, but it was in good shape - easy to get out of. As other reviews mentioned, after the 8th hole is when you have an opportunity to head back toward the club house for refreshments etc. So long as you don’t take an egregious amount of time - you should have no issues resuming your round. The staff explained this to us at the start of our round and did not make us feel rushed at all when we did stop for drinks before heading back to the 9th hole to continue the rest of the round.

Overall, if you’re willing to accept that this is not a private country club and take it for what it is - there’s really no reason you will not enjoy yourself on this course. It’s a fun challenge with some incredible views. As someone who has played many rounds of golf on higher end public and private courses - I highly recommend giving this place a try while keeping an open mind.

Just one last note because I feel compelled to mention it. Some of the reviews of this course are honestly ridiculous and unfair - blatantly obvious things that any golfer should understand do not warrant a bad review. Serious lack of common sense and courtesy nowadays..

If you have played here before it’s same as always good course, decent play. However they are battling with their greens right now. Left long and slow to try to save them, three are lost and they are doing their best to retrieve them. Rough summer for them. They will get them back just expect bad greens this summer.

Fun course. Can be a challenging layout. Staff not thrilled about Golf Now Hot Deals bookings.

One of my favorite courses ever. The layout was great and several of the holes had the best views I’d ever seen. I highly recommend.

Got a great deal on this course and have always wanted to try it. Very nice clubhouse and the dude working in there was great. Great scenery and saw some wildlife which was cool. I highly recommend this course and will definitely be back.

Usually a real treat to play the Greens at Deerfield but this trip was a bit disappointing for a couple of reasons. 1. The bunkers were basically untouched, not maintained at all. 2. Something has happened to the greens which has caused most of the grass to be patchy. My guess is a mixture of the extreme summer heat and high volume of rainfall at certain periods this summer. Overall the course is a treat to play usually. The other areas of the course were well maintained and the pace of play was super…hardly anyone on the course when we -payed around noon. Played 18 in well under 4 hours.

They are in really bad shape takes one element frustratingly out of the game . Putting over a large amount of dead spots. Considering the price to play its way over its head.

The course outside of that is very beautiful and hard to find any course that can beat the natural beauty of it.

Course is challenging for sure. Most of the greens were not in real good shape but not for lack of effort by staff. A few of the greens on the back nine were in great shape! Amazing views, unique holes, good signage to get to tee boxes. Great staff! Just a fun place to golf…depends on where you normally golf green fees were pretty fair.

If I had guests I would be embarrassed to bring them to this course. the approach, fringe and most greens were in horrible shape. Granted, i realize we have not received alot of rain in the area.
