Ted Rhodes Golf Course
Ted Rhodes Golf Course sits on the Cumberland River's North Nashville banks, and was originally named the Cumberland Golf Course, after that body of water, back when it only had nine holes, first laid out way back in 1953. A 1992 redesign added nine more holes, and nowadays golfers get 18 holes of links-style golf, complete with lakes and bunkers that make for good times. Big greens provide big targets for approaches on this walkable golf course.
The par-72 Ted Rhodes Golf Course measures 6,669 yards from the Blue tees, and offers a fourth set of tees that play to 5,010 yards for the ladies. A round of golf kicks off big on a par-5 hole that comes in at 555 yards from the Blue tee, one of two long holes, with the back nine also opening on a 534-yard hole. With that in mind, the golf course concludes with a relative whimper, on a par-4 hole that measures just 432 yards from the Blue tee.
Something to look for on the Ted Rhodes Golf Course is the fauna: Turtles, fish, muskrats and beavers all make their homes in the golf course's lakes and river.

Good course, bad management
Tee tiimes mean nothing at this course, and pretty much any other public course in Tennessee. Just show up and you are told to go out whenever. Pairings are made halfway through your round when you run into 2-3 other solo players. Would be nice to see the proshop take control of this and keep set tee times in order to form groups, and have the pace of play normal. Front 9 played in 1.5 hours, back 9 in 2.5. Cant complain about a 4 hour round, but here I am.
Better Than I remembered
This was my first time playing course in about 6 years. When I drove into parking lot i saw a cleaner , better trimmed course and i said wow. The little improvements are wonderful and really make the course look great without taking away difficulty of the course. Trimming back brush and around some of the hazards just make the course pop. The greens rolled great and you still have to hit shots to score. Great job Ted Rhodes staff and grounds crew and I look forward to playing again soon.
nice course layout and greens and fairways were in great shape. Holes 11 -17 particularly enjoyable withe the scenery. Might consider removing algae from standing water as it is a health hazard
Much nicer than anticipated
I booked a hot deal at this municipal course last minute not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised with the course conditions, layout, and unique look of many of the shots I was faced with. It's quirky, so it's hard to play it well on your first round. But my second round (I played 36 holes my only time playing there) I was able to put the ball where I needed to. It's challenging off the tee, but approach shots, around the greens, and putting is fairly straightforward. It played longer than the scorecard suggests because of the wind, which was strong on a few holes. Overall, a great course that I would be proud to be a member of.
Nice public course. Greens are in good shape. 6200 yards from white tees. Yea
Good public course.
I’ve played this course for years and it actually looks like they’re trying to give it some love for the course conditions. They have cleaned up the brush and rough areas to where it’s turning into a pretty nice course, if they could figure out the back 9 flooding then they could be a premier course for the area in my opinion.
DO NOT GO!!!
DO NOT GO TO THIS COURSE! THEY LET GROUPS OF 5 PLAY EVEN 6. Took me about 5 hours to play 18. ALSO THE AMENITIES ARE AWFUL NO HOLES ON PUTTING GREEN. YOU HAVE TO SHAG YOUR OWN RANGE BALLS TO HIT ON THE RANGE. THE COURSE LAYOUT FOR HOLES 1-9 ARE EXTREMELY CLOSE WE ALMOST GOT HIT BY A INCOMING BALL FROM ANOTHER HOLE. DO NOT RECOMMEND
Great round 'fore' a great value
Played on a weekday morning. Staff was friendly. We played in crazy windy conditions, but it was fun. The fairways were still dormant, so the fairway was difficult to see on some holes. Greens were in very good condition. We will play again if we are back in the area. Good city course.
Well started off our 3 some, waiting about 7-10 minutes just to T off the next hole. At the turn they were adding people to golf groups that were already playing slow. I was there golfing with business clients to talk a little business but then hey guess what the course is making our 3 some a 4 some. Waited 20 minutes at the turn. So we left without playing the back nine and I’ll do my best never to play there again.
I always enjoy playing here. All of the random’s I got paired with have been nothing but an amazing time.
Another great Muni Course
This muni course is well maintained and presents all levels of challenges. We enjoyed our first visit!
