Busy Day at Smyrna GC
A break in the cooler weather, with sunny skies, brought out many golfers. So pace of play was slow, about 5 hours for 18 holes, and rated as fair. There was some problem with fallen leaves on fairways and greens plus loss of two or three balls in the fairways, which should not have happened. The biggest challenge was inconsistent speed of greens due to heavy traffic and many ball marks left unrepaired. Also, some attention should be given to prevent uneducated golfers from ripping putting surfaces with their cleats. The condescending monitor who insulted us when we committed a minor violation of the riding cart rules would better spend his time watching for major tearing of the greens by those who don't know or don't care, and there were many cleat marks on every green!

Won't be back
Showed up with my 4 year old and was told he is not allowed on the course. We have been many times before & there hasn't been an issue with him and we had never been turned away from any course. Pro shop worker said "only 3 people work in here & he would never be allowed on the course so we must not have seen him if he has played before". Like I would leave a 4 year old outside while I go in the clubhouse. Son said he never wants to go back & they will never get business from me again.

Great Course
Course was in great shape. Greens have really sped up since aeration. Staff always friendly.

Very Nice Day
Although I prefer bent grass, the Smyrna course is in fine shape. Greens were tricky, maybe a little uneven in speed and quality, but overall okay. Nice layout for course, but best feature is proximity to airport (old Seward AFB) and especially as dusk neared the lights along the runway (perfectly visible from one hole on back nine) made the trip special.

Perfect Conditions. Course looked amazing.
Went out on the first cold day with sunshine this year and it was absolutely perfect. Worried that weather would beat the course standard-wise but it looked and played amazingly in the fresh, sunny feel.
I could probably suggest some work in green repairs as sadly some people do not repair pitch marks with a good handful of greens being peppered by approach shots.
Overall a really nice experience and I’ll definitely return.

Pace of Slow
The pace of play the last few Sundays has been terrible. No more golf etiquette it appears . Took over 2 1/2 hrs last week to play 9 holes as a twosome. Took over 2 hours today to play 9 holes as a solo. Other than that I love the course and the staff. My favorite place to play locally.

Nice municipal course with very friendly staff. Greens were freshly aerated and made things a little challenging. Groups kept a good pace.
