The course we find is good for people who frustrated with the long courses. It gets easier too Nueces is there are no water hazards or sand bunkers. Can be narrow and long from the tips. Course is well maintained but not to the degree of a TPC course. Fun for us older blokes that don’t want to spend 70-100 dollars a round.

Nice course with no sand traps or water but plenty of trees. Staff and other golfers are very friendly. Greens need some work but very puttable. Course layout was great.

The staff was certainly friendly enough; quite laid back. The starter was engaging, joked with us a bit, but also provided good course info for us since it was our first time at this course.

The pro shop is small but let's be honest, how many of us really buy any articles of clothing, clubs, shoes, etc at a golf course!? It has what you need -- grab a drink if you like, pay, and be on your way. It's an older facility. Newer courses are putting in more elaborate pro shops and clubhouses to entice players to hang out and spend more money. The clubhouse here was inviting enough though with a handful or two of tables, a couple of TVs, and a small bar. There's also a deck if you wish to sit outside. I'm sure the swimming pool will have a few screaming kids during warmer weather. All good. While they have a menu online, we didn't see anyone nor any place that might be serving food on this Wednesday. So we grabbed a Snickers (literally), finished the round, and ate a late lunch in Blanco. Perhaps they have food on the weekend. I don't blame them. You don't want to have employees hanging around to make a few meals if any at all. I get it. And I'm sure the locals that play there often are quite aware.

The driving range is smallish holding about 10-12 players. It's also parallel to #10. While we only found one (1) range ball next to the fairway, we found two (2) of our balls over in the range area. It's certainly not ideal to have them so close. Perhaps the club's property line prevents them from shifting the range over and redirecting it a bit. Personally, I'd consider putting in a fence of some sort as an added measure of keeping folks like us from running out into the range to hit our second shot (because let's be honest, that's exactly what we did). That, or maybe a line of fuller trees (bushy cedars that are low to the ground) might help create a barrier of sorts. It's just a thought/suggestion.

As a general note, there were more than a few rough spots on this older cart path. Just watch where you're going in case you find a pothole, tree root bump, etc. The carts are what I'd call the newer electric style with ample cup holders and storage areas up front. They certainly had some zip to them today. Sand bottles were on the frame but were empty. Hmmm, okay. As I found out, you're quite unlikely to leave a divot in the fairways anyway.

Before I get into my normal routine of talking about tees, fairways, and greens, I'd first like to compliment the course on a number of things they're doing right. They've done an excellent job of signage with layout and distances at the tee box of each respective hole. That's really nice to have. Every course should do it. They also have a big course map up near the clubhouse. I believe they have four (4) water coolers on the course. And I even saw several ball washers with towels -- those are a dying breed. While they're not air-conditioned, there are two (2) bathroom facilities out on the course. They have black-n-white 150yd poles, red/blue/yellow stakes for 100/200/250, and white/red/b-w flags for general distance pin placement. All of these things make the round just that much better.

As for the tee boxes, some are nice and some a bit on the rough side. Many of them, however, had little crabgrass seed heads that you often don't see until pulling back the driver/iron. And that's when it moves -- far more distracting than you'd imagine. I found it frustrating as to how many of those I had to pull up before teeing off throughout the day. They need to get rid of it or mow the tees more often.

Fairways were alright. There was the occasional thin spot here and there. That's to be expected with a hill country (non $$$ country club) course; it's just part of the natural terrain. The ground was on the harder side so that might affect iron play since you may not be able to go after it; you may have to hit your shots a little cleaner. The rough (with lots of clover) was certainly not too punishing unless you found yourself under the trees with the various semi-buried large rocks (boulders). But with hill country courses you're often able to scramble a bit more with the exception of a few bush and weed filled areas that are just too hard for the course to maintain. Not complaining about that though -- just making the general comment. You're not supposed to be playing from there anyway, right!? As for hazards ... what hazards? There are no bunkers nor water features on this course. It's just you and the grass. So you're scoring should be just that much better, right!? Right.

A few of the greens had some rough spots but overall they were in nice shape and receptive to the ball, felt a little spongy at times, and rolled nicely.

Hey, who left that big oak in the middle of the fairway on #14? I ended up looking directly at it -- too close to hit a long enough high shot but to far from me to hit a solid punch under it. I was stuck -- had to bail around it. To quote James Coburn from the movie Payback, "Man, that's just mean. That's mean, man."

Good little course. No water or sand spring conditions. Some greens challenging to read. Would recommend for a leisurely game, great for new golfers. Some fairways are switch backs and tight, if you slice you maybe should watch closely for the on coming golfers. Was nearly hit on 11 from tee shot on 1.

We have. A great time every time we play this course. Staff is great, and layout is fun. The greens have not yet recovered from winter and are currently pretty sparse, but recent rains should kick things into high gear. Looking forward to summer golf here.

the greens are very challenging!

I played the course as a solo and only had to skip two holes to bypass two foursomes. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The fairways and the greens were in fair condition, but very playable.

love the course layout and the staff on the course were very friendly...gentleman in pro shop was not friendly and treated us like we shouldn't be there. Greens were in bad shape and also fairways...always loved driving from San Antonio to play but will hold off playing here for a long time.

Charged $42 with cart for Sunday morning. That is about normal however this course was not in good shape at all. Fairways and greens were rock hard and not well kept. I understand it is winter but the fairways were like tennis court fast. Again this is a good course for a beginner but the price is way too high for the quality. Many better options for the same cost or maybe a few dollars more that are much better courses. Beware and be prepared. This is what I call a Municipal Course but without the price. Maybe worth it for a weekday or twilight rate? I could not see paying over $25 for this course.

Not a challenging course but a long fun course to play!

I am an intermediate golfer, and I really enjoyed this course, even playing it for the first time. The starter was very helpful and gave us a good overview of the course so we knew what to expect. The holes were challenging but not difficult.

Is there a zero star?? They charge $37 green fees for TWIGHLIGHT!! FOR THIS COURSE! I mean I don’t mean to disrespect this establishment but it’s absolutely nuts. I wouldn’t pay that for prime time, and here’s why:

The course in general is a terrible course and no one should ever be subjected to such a rip-off. Avoid this place like the plague. It’s best features include (but are not limited to) it’s fairways - which seem to be some sort of tile or concrete flooring, a complete absence of sand traps and/or water hazards, gorgeous uneven, patchy, and brown tee boxes, beautiful greens that are spray painted a brilliant golf-course-grass-green, and when you put the ball and it rolls across the green like a bumpy granite kitchen counter top. By now you may be thinking, “Phew! I need a drink!” So be relieved! You can get one there if you get thirsty, there’s 2 water coolers along the way (but keep in mind they never change the water and it is likely days old - honestly someone should call the Texas health department). If that isn’t enough to sign you up right away, the course is really short! Any average golfer should be able to nearly drive every green on every par 4 (minus 1). If you’re just starting out or learning, this is a great course, but only if you are rich and can afford to throw $30-40 in the trash each outing. No wonder the game of Golf struggles for new players. This course is by every definition a beginner’s course and it’s close to being in the worst shape of all the courses in the greater San Antonio area and it should be priced accordingly. Instead they are charging premium prices as if they are some sort of premier course. In fact, they charge just as much if not more than Canyon Springs - an actual premier course, that’s actually within close proximity to San Antonio (and to anyone reading this, just stop now save yourself the $ and time and book a tee time there instead). One would think Rebecca Creek would recognize that for their course, the prices are eye-gouging. That is most likely why I have never seen anyone else on the course at any time I’ve ever been. One would think they would consider cutting deals on slow days for experienced guys who want to scoot around the course for a fair price that matches both a tight budget and the awful course condition. One would think that it would be common business sense to cut these deals so they could make some income instead of earning $0.00. A fair price for this course would be $20-$25 primetime and $15 for twighlight. However instead of doing any of the aforementioned things, they continue to price gouge on “wide-open” days and deny any request for a discount. Total letdown - if they end up making changes maybe my review will change to reflect it, but everything I have said is true as of Feb 2019!

Course is in good shape for mid January. Greens were fast but putted well. Winter grass in fairways. Course was in great shape for January. Will be back in the future.

For this time of the year the course was in great condition.
