Royal American Links Golf Club
About
Royal American Links Golf Club pays homage to the birthplace of golf, the seaside links of Scotland, an inspiration that is also reflected in the architecture of the clubhouse. The 18-hole course was created in the traditional link-style but with added features not typical of the classic design including water coming into play on nearly every hole. There are also large, deep bunkers protect the sloping greens, many of which are double-tiered. Royal American Links Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 12th. Its green is guarded by a not only a large rock wall but also water to the front and left. There is a large bunker to the left of the green that will swallow any errant shots but players with a sharp short game will be able to manage.

This course has a lot of great holes.
Course was in great shape, friendly staff. Course can be hard to find if you are not familiar with the area.
Overrated
Course is in good shape…. Friendly staff. Bunkers are some of the best maintained around. My only complaints are: 1. Layout isn’t the greatest. There are a few holes that are pedestrian. B. Need a beverage cart on the course. C. I’m not a fan of moving the tees way up on the weekends…. It changes the layout. And integrity of the course. D. yardage is a guess even on the par 3, as there are very few markers.
Great challenges await
If this excellent course had a marshal to teach players that they only rent golf courses at 15 minutes a hole maximum, we would all have a much better time. My playing partner had a tap in eagle on the first par 5 on the back nine, over 500 yards.
love the course. if it was $10 cheaper would play more often
course was in great shape considering it has rain for almost 2 weeks
nice layout
Course was in good shape for as much rain as we have had. Greens were slightly fast. Pace of play was about 3.5 hours.
A challenging fun course
The course had just experienced heavy rains and the traps were unplayable. Otherwise, it was mown and the greens were in good shape. Nice layout and 4 sets of tees that make it playable for everyone. Very enjoyable.
Decent course
Decent layout and it's in pretty good shape. I wouldn't pay full price to playhere, but it was well worth $30 on a Saturday AM through golfnow.
This course has a lot of character
Course is great, it's one of the better courses in the city but the price has jump up big time and not only don't I want to pay that much I just don't think the course is worth it.
Course was in great shape
Had to follow an outing that had gone off earlier in the day, so pace of play was slower than normal during the week, but not to the point you wanted to quit and go home. I love to play this course at least once a year.
Good greens, plenty of hazards!
This course has everything! Good greens , water on more than half of the holes and plenty of bunkers. There are holes that are easy and holes that are difficult. The par 3's are challenging and fair. I play from the back tees and my 10 year old son plays from the forward tees and we both have fun! Staff is always friendly and course is always in good shape.
Nice course
The course itself was well maintained. The greens rolled true and all but one of the tee boxes were well taken care of. The only complaint that I have is the pace of play. The front nine took us a little over a hour and a half to play. The back nine..........3 1/2!!!!!! Dont really understand how that happened but it did and like I said thats my only complaint with the course.
Royal American Links
the course was well maintained, the greens were fast and true. Plenty of challenges, like water and bunkers.
Very good course
Course was very well maintained. Fairways and greens were in good shape. Employees were very nice. Most definitely will come back again.
course was in need of watering. Fairways were very hard. Tee boxes were just plugged and in bad shape.
Would play this course again through golfnow because of the reduced cost. Would not pay full rate, at least based on this experience.
Needs a ranger, a starter, and someone who can rake traps
We went to the first tee, got in line, and waited for 2 twosomes and a threesome to go, then discovered that those groups had started on 10 and were making the turn. No one had told us they were starting on 10 that day. So, we went to 10 and played the back.
A starter would have been nice.
We played behind a threesome, a twosome, and a fivesome. Very slow. A ranger would have been nice.
The traps were in the worst shape I have ever seen for a course of this caliber. Hard packed dirt, very little sand, and full of footprints.
Some one who rakes traps would have been nice.
I discovered that we could have gotten the same rate at the course that we got on GolfNow. An unpleasant surprise
Course was in best shape i have seen it in
Greens were fast and true. Tees and fairways nice. Rough not overly high, hazards a bear as usual.
more maintenance needed
Golfers here need to fix divots on greens. Front nine played well, back nine needs a few more acres. 10-18 to narrow and to close together. Appears the mowing/trimming crew gets a few days off.
Clubhouse and bar area very nice. Good selection of equipment and accessories.
Really Nice Course
I really like this course and will definitely be playing it again. Its tough with water on most holes but very well kept.
Enjoyable course
Played in a scramble here, and really enjoyed the course. The course makes you use every club, especially since you can't hit driver on every hole or you 'll end up in the water. Greens were in good condition for a public course, and the fairways were well kept. Not the longest course, but fun none the less. Golf shop was tiny, and the dining area was a little dated.
