Royal American Links Golf Club
About
Royal American Links Golf Club pays homage to the birthplace of golf, the seaside links of Scotland, an inspiration that is also reflected in the architecture of the clubhouse. The 18-hole course was created in the traditional link-style but with added features not typical of the classic design including water coming into play on nearly every hole. There are also large, deep bunkers protect the sloping greens, many of which are double-tiered. Royal American Links Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 12th. Its green is guarded by a not only a large rock wall but also water to the front and left. There is a large bunker to the left of the green that will swallow any errant shots but players with a sharp short game will be able to manage.

Too slow to play
5guys played in front of us. No golf course people said anything. Too slow to play. I don't come back
Nice course for the price!
The course was well maintained. A true links course does not have trees but this does which played well. One item I didn't like was the grass near the green was very high which for me was very difficult to chip out of. Overall worth the money and the food was really good!
Great Times
Greens were in great shape for this time of the year. Cant wait ti play when conditions are little warmer. Glad to see they lowered their beer prices
Great course for the money I paid through GOLF NOW.
I thought course was in really good shape for this time of season. greens were rolling great.
Greens were in great shape
Rainy day called to check with staff on condition, "still very dry",
we were hydro planing in the fairways!!!
Cousre has come along way in condition compared to a year ago.
staff could care less about your playing experience, very disappointing in the staff's attitude.
Course in good shape but don't bring your Spouse!
The course was in good condition & the greens rolled true...the only drawback was that the course is an old school design...I was out there with my girlfriend who is actually a decent player but the ladies tee boxes in some cases were only a few yards in front of where I was hitting making it a course that was completely unfriendly to the ladies game. Guys its a course not based too much on length but more on position...Ladies I would pass and look at a course that is more playable.
Course very exciting
Course is very exciting but little bit simple. But I would like to recommend to my friend later.
Fun golf for every type of player
Royal American has a lot of fun holes to play for every type of game. Whether you hit driver off the tee or irons you can make your way around the course and find a way to score. Has a great mix of scoring holes and holes that make you want to break all the clubs in your bag
So-so
Only reason for low rating is the time of year and with a few tee boxes closed $30.00 is WAY to much. A few of the tee boxes were closed and a few were in bad shape. Other than that course was in good condition for the time of year.
In good shape and a great deal for $29 on Golfnow.
Fun course with nicely maintained fairways and greens. Has a few target type par 4's that are not too long but also has some over 400 yds . A few of the par 5's are reachable . Overall a great course
This course combines easy holes with some difficult ones. In midseason it's usually kept in pretty good shape.
Overall, it's a pretty good public course. However, a bit pricey for the number of choices in central Ohio. It's well worth playing if you have never done so and a bit off the beaten path. But the clubhouse and facilities are nice.
Great conditions for late fall
I played this weekend and the course was pretty open due to being 40 degrees. Greens were fast, pace of play was great. A good mix of challenging and scoring holes. Will definitley play again
my fav. corse
love the greens ,lots of birdies to be made for a strait hitter,i have played 18 in less than 3 hrs on more than one occasion,
Fast greens!
I played Royal American for my first time on the second weekend in October. I got a great deal on the greens fees through GolfNow and had a great experience overall. We could tell that the greens had already been aerated but they were done so well and must have had been long enough ago that it wasn't a problem at all. In fact, the greens ran really well and were very fast. I play a lot of courses around Central Ohio and I play about 30-40 rounds per year and I can say with the utmost confidence that these were some of the best greens I've seen on a public golf course ever. These greens would rival the greens of private courses I've played too. The layout was really interesting and there are plenty of challenging holes. My only negative experience had nothing to do with the actual course but instead was the slow service in the grill room. Apparently someone had called off that day but that doesn't explain why it took 15-20 minutes at the turn for my foursome to get a brat and some beers. Oh well, I'll definitely be back. Awesome course!
Not worth it due to terrible pace of play
As I walked to the pro shop, I encountered a fellow golfer who had just finished his round, and who was very unhappy about the pace of play. We started at 3:00 and had to literally wait 4-5 minutes after finishing each hole--and sometimes even longer before teeing off. There were frequently two groups ahead of us waiting to tee off on a given hole. This can be controlled by how many people you send out within a given time frame. It was obvious that Royal American was more interested in making money than it was in providing an enjoyable experience. Needless to say, we were unable to finish our round due to darkness (and trust me, we tried). Needless to say, I will not be a repeat customer to Royal American.
A great links style set up.
royal American is one of the best values in the Columbus area. I played for $25 including cart on a Friday afternoon.
