Royal American Links Golf Club
About
Royal American Links Golf Club pays homage to the birthplace of golf, the seaside links of Scotland, an inspiration that is also reflected in the architecture of the clubhouse. The 18-hole course was created in the traditional link-style but with added features not typical of the classic design including water coming into play on nearly every hole. There are also large, deep bunkers protect the sloping greens, many of which are double-tiered. Royal American Links Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 12th. Its green is guarded by a not only a large rock wall but also water to the front and left. There is a large bunker to the left of the green that will swallow any errant shots but players with a sharp short game will be able to manage.

Nice Course
Nice course, well taken care of, tees were a little shaggy but not too bad, fairways, bunkers and greens were in great shape, the range was closed, not sure why. Greens had just been treated but still rolled very well. Starter got me out ahead of a large group so pace of play wasn't a problem. This is a great value course with a Golf Now discount.
Glad to get back to this course
It has been 5 years since I played this course since I moved to Chicago. This course is a good track to play. I always have a good time.
I met a couple nice guys that were also singles. Had a great time finishing the course.
I will be back to play again.
Thanks!
All they want is your money
Played on a weekday. It took almost 5 hours. No ranger, no one checking the pace nothing. A foursome two groups ahead took had everything backed up. At the turn we told them about the situation and their response was " I think those are members". They didn't send anyone out to talk to the group, and summarily dismissed us. We will not play there again, even if it was FREE.
Good course a little remote
I have played Royal American a number of times over the years, it is a good value for the greens fees. The date we played it was wet from rain and the fairways were soggy but otherwise is still maintained well, greens in very good condition. A great layout - always challenging. Would play more often but it is out of the way, a 45 minute drive for me from Hilliard.
Well Maintained
Got a hot time on Golfnow for $9, which is painfully cheap. The course was extremely well maintained, probably top 2 in Columbus I have played this year (50+ rounds). Greens were in great shape, my only wish is that they had been cut down a bit more. Pace of play was great even with a group on every hole. Played until dark and the staff did not force us to quit or seem bothered. Will definitely be back.
Great value for the money.
I play this course 10-15 times a season due to it's affordability and proximity to my home. Staff is very friendly and accommodating (I believe they fired the one guy who was unpleasant).
Not a terribly long course, but you will need to be able to hit the ball straight and a draw would definitely help.
Some players do a poor job of repairing ball marks and divots but the greens crew keeps up quite well.
I believe they are under new management and several improvements are evident on the course. They also offer a membership with reciprocity at a couple of other courses.
Nice course, plush fairways, mix of easy and difficult holes.
We got a golfnow super saver price for early afternoon weekday play so the value was great. The course was well maintained and the greens receptive to the infrequent good shots we hit! A lot of fun with a combination of short and long holes. Our only complaint was the lack of yardage markers on the par three tees. On several holes we were not sure if the tees were at the scorecard yardage. Overall a very nice place to play.
Nice course, played it before, staff was accomodating to tee time so I could play with a friend

the coarse was great but the guy in the clubhouse was a jerk
nice coarse guy at the clubhouse was a jerk.Played quickly people let us play through
found course through Golf Now.
I only just started playing this course a few weeks ago .I found it through Golf Now and I am loving this course. You cant beat the price you get with Golf Now . The course itself is great for me Im a fourth year golfer and I find the course challenging but not intimidating. I will be back for sure.
Well worth playing
This was my first time here, and I enjoyed the course very much. The course was crowded, so the pace of play was slow, but not unreasonable. Everything's well maintained, and it's challenging enough to be fun. I wouldn't hesitate to play again.
The course has playability
Course in good condition! Nice and tricky holes. Will play again!,
Nice Course, but the staff needs to change
I booked a Friday afternoon time as a single. Pro shop was clueless on who and when everyone was teeing off. There was no starter. Very confusing. I teed off alone ahead of a huge group of guys. I paired up with a threesome who caught up to me because the twosome in front of me didn't let me play through. When my group finished #9, the pro shop let another 4some of slow old men cut in front of us on 10. The back 9 took 45 minutes longer because of this. Bottom line, the course is fun to play, but the pro shop staff showed no effort in controlling the crowd and pace of play. The staff really turned me off from playing here again.
Great course, but far drive.
This is a great course that I really enjoy the 1-2 times I play it per year. It is in great shape, challenging, but not over the top for the average golfer, a good mix of water and trees throughout, and a good amount of drinking water throughout the course. Staff was really friendly, as well as the patrons. My buddy and I played 18 in about 3 hr and 15 minutes, with groups letting us pass on 2 different occasions. One downside is the drive from Columbus is pretty far. I would play there much more often if it was closer, but the rate would probably be 50% higher if it was...highly recommend, particularly if you are playing on a vacation day on weekday.
Excellent value
Course in very good condition except for two fairways being aerated. Staff cordial and friendly.
Wonderfully maintained with lots of challenges.
This course is very challenging to hit your shots to the correct spots. Lots of water, which can snick up on you, make course management a must. Greens ran true and were large enough to get on in regulation.
I will definitely play this course again. It was a real treat.
Great course. Well maintained greens, fair play.
This "upscale" course feel is not intimidating for the average golfer. If you are not a perfect "down the fairway" hitter there is enough leeway to make the course enjoyable. Great facilities - (clubhouse, course layout) and the course is one that I plan on playing again.
Royal American Golf Course
I really like the course itself. However, the pace of play was absurd. They have the tee times way too close together (8 minutes). We played on a Sunday and our group had to wait every shot. We had a two some on the 1st hole but joined the group ahead of us on the next hole. We were supposed to tee off at 4:12 but did not until 4:30. There was no ranger to be found either. This is the second time I've played here and it was the same way. I would recommend this course IF there was better pace of play. Again, beautiful course.
Nice course with some short but difficult holes
Course was in good shape and provides a challenge for golfers of all different skill levels. The bunkers are tough to get up and down from. I only have two complaints; first issue is there was a group of 5 in front of us and the pace of play was very slow at times and secondly I did not get my Golf Now discount so essentially I paid an extra $5.97 to play this course because of the on-line booking fee.
