Royal American Links Golf Club

About
Royal American Links Golf Club pays homage to the birthplace of golf, the seaside links of Scotland, an inspiration that is also reflected in the architecture of the clubhouse. The 18-hole course was created in the traditional link-style but with added features not typical of the classic design including water coming into play on nearly every hole. There are also large, deep bunkers protect the sloping greens, many of which are double-tiered. Royal American Links Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 12th. Its green is guarded by a not only a large rock wall but also water to the front and left. There is a large bunker to the left of the green that will swallow any errant shots but players with a sharp short game will be able to manage.

Conditional
The price charged for the conditions was extreme. Fairways and rough were in good shape but the greens were burnt out and the sand traps were unplayable due to absolutely no maintenance and standing water. For this price point there shouldn't be clover growing in the rough. I heard a rumor this course is being sold/deveoped, so maybe that explains the conditions. Won't be back although I liked the course layout.
cart paths are in need of repair as there are potholes causing riders to wear down golf course grass by driving around potholes
Beautiful “Ohio” Course
Wet conditions but the course was still in great shape & looked fantastic. Really enjoyed the pondy parkland style in the farmlands, it felt like a very “Ohio” course. Some greens could be improved, but I was very pleased with the rate for early Memorial Day round.
Royal American
Course was in very good shape. The greens were outstanding, rolling really nice. Best public course greens I have played in central Ohio so far this year.
Hoped for Better
Heard the course was bought not too long ago so I had hoped for improvements to what was poor conditions before. Not so much. The fairways scalded, bunkers were water logged and crusty, and the greens were burnt and pockmarked all over. Not coming back here again unless I know for sure there are improvements made.
Good course
The course was wet but at least it was only a 90° rule in effect. The sand traps are unplayable like most courses in the area. Pace of play was good and the pro shop staff was very pleasant.
Great course any time if year
This course plays so differently based on rain and wind, making it one of my favorites since moving to Columbus. Right now there are pretty crusty conditions on the greens around the home but it’s march and i look know they get better The only real negative I have isn’t to the course, but to the people that are leaving massive divots in the fairways. This place could be a gem if golfers fixed divots… if you’re like me and are standing in the fairway next to someone else’s beaver pelt, take a second and tamp it in one of those divots and we’ll all be better for it come june
Late February 60 Degree Day
Honestly best late winter course I’ve played in my time in Central Ohio. Sure the greens were chewed up and salted, but aside from that the rest of the course was in amazing shape for the time of the year. Very pleased to see its upkeep hasn’t slipped since the new ownership. Zak in the pro shop was super personable and added to enjoyment on the day. I hope this course continues to serve Central Ohio for decades to come. It has been a very enjoyable course and I hope to find something comparable in my move away from the area. Highly recommend any time of the year!
Great fall Golf
Staff is friendly and Excellent service is always provided! Course is in great shape for Early fall and Greens being sanded! Get out there and Play!!
Poorly kept
I liked the design, clubhouse was very nice and staff were amazing- but the course was in really bad shape, greens having sand and many cracks in them, fairways and sand traps pretty poor. Not worth the cost
