Royal American Links Golf Club
About
Royal American Links Golf Club pays homage to the birthplace of golf, the seaside links of Scotland, an inspiration that is also reflected in the architecture of the clubhouse. The 18-hole course was created in the traditional link-style but with added features not typical of the classic design including water coming into play on nearly every hole. There are also large, deep bunkers protect the sloping greens, many of which are double-tiered. Royal American Links Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 12th. Its green is guarded by a not only a large rock wall but also water to the front and left. There is a large bunker to the left of the green that will swallow any errant shots but players with a sharp short game will be able to manage.

Played 7/27
Unfortunate to see this course in the shape it's in now. I really like this course but the conditions are less than ideal.
Many ot the greens are in rough shape (and they were running really slow). The driving range is simply a mixture of dirt and weeds. The chipping green near the range is nearly non-existent.
Worse shape
I have played this course for years. Ever since covid it’s been slowly getting worse and this is the worst I have ever seen the course. The fairways are cracked and brown. Greens are patchy and dead. Lastly the tee boxes are always horrible. This course could have so much potential with its lay outs but they just don’t take care of it at all. I wouldn’t pay more than 30$ to play 18 here.
Good value but the course was beat up.
The area received rain Wednesday night. Multiple bunkers were filled with water. #14 green was in horrible shape. Royal American could really be a great course if it was kept up.
What happend here.
This course has gone way down hill. Kind of embarrassing for those in charge, even if they are plowing down the course to build houses the course should be in better shape.
Currently overpriced
Greens are in horrible condition, green rotting is highly visible on most greens. If you get a hot deal for around 30$ fine but the normal cost currently is $50-$60 to play here and that’s outrageous given the condition of the greens. They need to immediately reduce the price to play here given the conditions.
Super slow
Great layout, need to have foursome going out when it is this busy.
$30 course cosplaying as a $50 course
Played this course very early in April and everything was in solid shape. I enjoy the layout, relatively open with some punishing misses. But the course now is just in rough shape. Fairways were all incredibly muddy from equipment cars. Lots of divots unfixed, but that’s not on the course as much as it is the locals. Every single bunker is completely underwater and unplayable. Rough is unintentionally patchy with tons of weeds where weeds shouldn’t be. The greens all have major dead spots all over the place, which completely kills any decent putting stroke. Ball marks unfixed too, which again speaks more towards the clientele.
The course would be fine if the price was slashed in half, however it’s entirely too pricey to be in as poor of shape as it is during the height of golf season.
Conditional
The price charged for the conditions was extreme. Fairways and rough were in good shape but the greens were burnt out and the sand traps were unplayable due to absolutely no maintenance and standing water. For this price point there shouldn't be clover growing in the rough. I heard a rumor this course is being sold/deveoped, so maybe that explains the conditions. Won't be back although I liked the course layout.
cart paths are in need of repair as there are potholes causing riders to wear down golf course grass by driving around potholes
Beautiful “Ohio” Course
Wet conditions but the course was still in great shape & looked fantastic. Really enjoyed the pondy parkland style in the farmlands, it felt like a very “Ohio” course. Some greens could be improved, but I was very pleased with the rate for early Memorial Day round.
Royal American
Course was in very good shape. The greens were outstanding, rolling really nice. Best public course greens I have played in central Ohio so far this year.
Hoped for Better
Heard the course was bought not too long ago so I had hoped for improvements to what was poor conditions before. Not so much. The fairways scalded, bunkers were water logged and crusty, and the greens were burnt and pockmarked all over. Not coming back here again unless I know for sure there are improvements made.
