About
Royal American Links Golf Club pays homage to the birthplace of golf, the seaside links of Scotland, an inspiration that is also reflected in the architecture of the clubhouse. The 18-hole course was created in the traditional link-style but with added features not typical of the classic design including water coming into play on nearly every hole. There are also large, deep bunkers protect the sloping greens, many of which are double-tiered. Royal American Links Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 12th. Its green is guarded by a not only a large rock wall but also water to the front and left. There is a large bunker to the left of the green that will swallow any errant shots but players with a sharp short game will be able to manage.

Good couse
Needs TLC, bunkers are ponds, tee boxes need attention.
Great course for the money
Always enjoy playing here, the course is well maintained, challenging but still fun to play. The only complaint I would have is the tee boxes, they are getting pretty torn up with divots. It makes it challenging at times to find a flat spot to set up on. If they get them flattened out and re sod them I don’t think I could find a negative at all!
Royal American
Played late fall for $20 and I would highly recommend it. Course was in great shape for the time of year. Only fault is not having a course layout led to balls going in water that was not in sight from the tee box.

Please put some money into course maintenance
Royal American is a good layout, but has declined in condition over that last few years. New Era seems to not put much back into course maintenance, especially the sand traps. Like other New Era courses (New Albany Links, Bent Tree) the traps are often riddled with weeds and are very shallow in the amount of sand. A bit of a shame as Royal American used to be a very solid track.

Needs more care
Royal American Golf Links would greatly benefit from some basic improvements. The tee boxes are extremely rough and the greens heavily marked. The bunkers are unplayable. The course layout is challenging and the staff superb. I just wish the course was getting the basic maintenance it deserves.

Greens need to be rolled more. There are a lot of ball/divot marks on the green.
Once a classic.
I know this course used to be nice but not now. Clubhouse in really bad condition, beer ads taped to the carts like a Daytona Beach biker bar, course not maintained well. Just seems it needs a lot of love. Sorry. Hate to be negative but I couldn’t recommend RA.

Certainly improved
The condition of the course has drastically improved from a couple years ago when they had significant issues with fairways and greens. Royal American gets a lot of play, so some of the tees are pretty chewed up, and like many public courses, a lot of the golfers seem to not know what a divot repair tool is. Overall, the course was in good shape. The layout is challenging, but fair. A bit disappointing that no one was in the clubhouse to check me in. I had to go back in after the round to pay. No "Sorry for the inconvenience." Nothing. Cart guy was on the job though. He had everything ready to go when I got there at 6:50.

Has potential
Course layout was ok but course is not maintained well. Weeds everywhere, bunkers have limited sand and some bunkers actually look like a pond. For the price of $50+ for a twilight play, I expected more.

Always a blast from the past very Tricky course you don’t need driver on every par four play smart and lay up to 159 marker in fairway much easier approach a couple par fives are reachable # 9!is a great challenge and a couple tough par 3’s over water overall a great challenge take the RAL challenge!
Improved from two years ago
Royal American had significant problems a couple of years ago. Fairways had large patches of damage, greens weren't in good shape, etc. Those issues have been corrected, and the course is now back to very good shape. The layout is challenging, but fair. The staff is consistently pleasant. The pace of play can be erratic, not different from most public courses.
My only complaint is with the bunkers. They are not well maintained. New Era owned courses seem to have this consistent problem, where the bunkers are not kept up.

Great conditions for Golf
the course was wonderful except for the bunkers which had been washed out. It would have been nice to see the bunker repair underway starting with the greenside bunkers. Fairway bunkers can wait for the spring
Fix your ball marks folks!!
Really nice track with challenging holes. Could be immaculate if people fixed their ball marks. The course unfortunately probably needs to hire someone to go out & fix them. Bunkers were in bad shape. Good full pro shop and the grill was awesome…cool open area with tvs & even a pool table.
Needs work
Tee boxes terrible, ball marks all over the greens. Bunkers basically dirt. Clubhouse is lacking maintenance, as is the parking lot and range. This course and clubhouse could be really really good with some time, money and effort. Don’t know if it’s lack of help however the greens feed haven’t come down so pay according to get this course back in shape. Will not return.
