Another fun round
Sun Hills is a challenging course that has challenges in every hole; I enjoy playing this course and do so several times a summer.
Another fun round
Sun Hills GC is a fun course with a challenging layout; checking in was easy and friendly, and when I had a concern about the way the cart was sounding, it was replaced without issue; the pace of play better than expected for a Friday afternoon, but it did slow down the last three holes with four groups on #18.
I would recommend the course to those who golf regularly, but I would suggest a different course to beginners.
First time back
I have not been able to play golf for the last 7 years. I remembered this course as a good one. My grandson and I decided to play Sun Hills. It did not disappoint. Pace was good. The course was in good shape. Will definitely return to play here.
Felt like I got scammed
Shocked to pay $30 for 9 holes with a cart. Course was in horrible shape. Dirt patches in the greens. They just aereated and sanded the greens. Did not discount the fees like every other course does when they do that. Most expensive course in Davis County while be the crappiest course. Very disappointed! Could have played Valley View, Davis, and Bountiful Ridge cheaper. Played Valley View and paid $24 for a course that was in fantastic condition.
Cart Girl Saved the Day
I’ve played this course a few times. I like the layout and design of the course. It’s great for intermediate players and beginners alike. It’s definitely not the first choice for most people in the area and most rounds are slow with groups not having basic golf etiquette. They stack the tee times up and the pace of play is always slow. Doesn’t bother me too much on a course like this.
One thing that really needs attention is the condition of the course. It’s in terrible condition. We’re on a streak of triple digit heat and haven’t seen rain in over a month but the tee boxes are horrible and the greens have dead spots. Dry areas in the fairway are expected this time of year and even some drier conditions on the green, even aerated greens, but this was by far the worst conditions I’ve seen at any course.
The staff is great and the cart girl bringing cold drinks around on the weekends is icing on the cake. This is one of the only public courses locally with this service and this is the best feature at Sun Hills. We will golf here again just for this reason. Beers and Boogie’s!!!
Excessively slow 9-hole round (supposed to be 18-hole round)
I booked an 18-hole round at Sun Hills GC as I have many times before this year and for many years through the GolfNow app although this wasn’t a Deal round; we arrived and were paired with another twosome, a man and woman, who were very friendly; on the first tee, we waited for the foursome in front of us (two couples) as normal, but at the second tee, we waited for the group in fro t of us to tee off because of the group in front of them; it progressively slowed thereafter; hole 3 was a par 3 which we also waited for the immediate group in front of us to tee up; on hole 4, again we waited for the two groups before we could tee off, but as we waited in the fairway for the green to clear, the foursome (4 men) hit into us with the ball rolling past our cart and near the woman in our group as she was waiting to hit in the fairway: on hole 5, there were five groups in the hole with us being the third group waiting at the tee; in hole 7, the marshal drove past us and stopped and talked with our counterparts and told them they were playing too slow, stating the green was clear and they should hit which was absolutely false; we all waited for the green to clear as we waited for our second shots; poor course management and marshalling; additionally, the course had many dry areas on tee boxes, fairways, and greens, but the clubhouse staff were friendly; we ended up stopping after our 2 hour 50 minute 9-holes as we made the turn and asked for a raincheck because it wasn’t getting any better to which the clubhouse staff member stated “welcome to Saturday golf at Sun Hills“ which obviously meant this is a recurring problem at least on Saturdays; personally I really enjoy the course, but I play there throughout the week each summer; however, I will rethink booking at Sun Hills in weekends in the future.
Great Round
Sun Hills is always a solid course. I like the layout and the course was in pretty good condition. Finished just a couple of minutes over 4 hours.
Good round
Sun Hills GC is a regular course I play through the GolfNow app; it is one of the few courses around Salt Lake City that has available deals through GolfNow, but it is a fun, challenging course; the course was in good shape overall, and the staff was friendly and accommodating which is typical, but with a rainy day, it was even more accommodating because the course was not busy: the only real item that wasn’t exceptional were some tee boxes; otherwise the course was in good shape even in a wet, rain-soaked course.
Elevated.
If you’re looking for a challenge with some of the best views and elevated shots, this is the place the play.
Sunday fun
We were able to get a tee time for 9 holes but not 18. We're paired with another twosome which turned out to be fun and they had the same skill level as us. Usually when you get paired up, the other group is usually so much better, but this time worked out well. The course was in pretty good condition with the exception that most of the greens had leaves all over the surface and if you didn't clear a path, your ball was being directed all over the place. Another downer was that it took 2:30 minutes to play the 9 holes because of the back load of players on the course. Two groups in front of us must have been playing in the Utah Championship because every putt was being marked until each player finally holed out. We also had a walking group in front of two foursome riding groups. I like the SLC course that mandates you must ride during this time of the year. It really helps speed up the game overall the course was in good shape. Great views of the lake and the staff was very friendly. We will definitely play here again.
Typical Sun Hills experience
I play Sun Hills GC several times a year because it is a challenging course with great variety; it is a popular course and is quite busy regularly which includes a diverse experience level affecting the pace of play; the course was in overall fair shape with tee boxes and fairways a bit stressed, but the greens were in pretty good shape; despite these aspects, the round was very enjoyable for our group.
