No Mention of Sandy Greens
When you book a course as well know and challenging as Manakiki you do not want the surprises of sandy greens after punching when you drive 40 min to get there. If I would have known I would have choose a different course to play. Completely disappointed!!!
Great Course - Suffers from being too hard for Bad Golfers
This course is fantastic! Its challenging, yet fair. However, it suffers from slow play, due to 20+ handicappers playing from too far back and not having the skill to take on the course. If you can get out without a crowd this is the best of the Metropark courses IMO - but expect a 5-6hr round on a sunny Saturday.
Long But Fun
Still one of the nicest courses around. Recently aerated so greens are bumpy. At least 3 par 4's should be made par 5's. They are unreachable in 2. Pace wasn't bad for a Sunday.
Poor greens ☹️
Sadly, we were not made aware of the heavy green maintenance. Punched, and 7 were freshly sanded.
It’s very necessary work, but a heads up would have allowed us to make a better decision. Very disappointing round.

Its fall - you should know better
Great layout decent condition limited service
First time playing this course from out of town on a Friday mid day tee time. Course is beatiful to look at, fun layout classic Donald Ross design. The greens are running fast and true, but some greens are under repair but still playable. Fairways are decent, soft and not a lot of roll. Rough is overall decent but challenged at places. Bunkers are deccent and playable, but sand is rather hard packed. The staff is very friendly. Club house only has limited service, and drive range does NOT have range balls. Overall still recommend this course highly. Will be coming back in the future.
One of northeast Ohio’s very best
That headline is not simply my viewpoint… In a recent ranking publication, Manakiki was listed #4 in the state of Ohio.
Very deservedly so.
. I’ve had the pleasure of playing this course many times over the years I return because it remains an aesthetic gem. And an enduring playing challenge.
Richie all of its 18 holes are engaging and there are but a few I fail to look forward to taking on.
The course condition this year has been among the best during the time that I’ve played Manakiki.
The greens in particular have been exceptionally well presented this season
Speaking of ‘free’. Greens fees on average are well up over recent years, and candidly Manakiki can put a strain on the budget. Nonetheless this course is worth digging a little deeper for.
I very much hope to visit several more times before the season ends.
Cleveland Gem
Cleveland Metropark's does a great job with their golf courses. Manakiki is the star.
I played yesterday afternoon. For a senior (over 60 years old) I paid $35 (with cart0 for a tee time after 2pm. That is is incredible price for a great course.
The course is in tremendous shape. Greens were perfect even late in the day. Fairways are really good. The rough can be challenging. Some very scenic holes. Not an easy course but very playable.
If you live anywhere near it, you have to come play it.
A Donald Ross gem
Manakiki is my favorite NE Ohio course. At 35$ senior rate it can't be beat. Course was in great condition. Course plays much longer than rated yardage because every green is up hill and elevated. Nothing bounces on. True Donald Ross greens. Fast undulating.. Course gets a lot of play but pace wasn't too bad at around 4 hours
Which Par 4's? It sounds like you should be playing from tee's that are further up. The Tips aren't even 7k and their are 5900, 6100, and 6600 tees.
