Named after a native American word for maple forest, Manakiki Golf Course's defining feature is the abundance of maple trees that line the winding fairways. The course is a classic Donald Ross design. He incorporated a variety of challenges including tricky doglegs, water hazards, up-and-down holes, and two canyon holes. The holes themselves also cover a range from short to long and tight to open. Golfers should prepare themselves for a bevy of uneven lies, but the dramatic elevation changes also guarantee some scenic views throughout the golf course. There are also sand traps but their placement and number were thoughtfully considered to make Manakiki G.C. challenging but still playable. It is popular for this reason but also because it is one of the best rounds in northeast Ohio you can find for under $50.

Manakiki
Course was in great condition! Best course I’ve played in NE Ohio! Staff was courteous and friendly Course design was challenging as Donald Ross courses usually! Will go back to play again.
Uneven Lie
Beautiful course but it seems like every shot is an awkward lie, greens were average but difficult to read, difficult pin placements with moisture made it difficult to avoid 3 putts!
Always a challenge
For a public course, Manakiki offers PGA “feel” for ball placement and scoring. 10th Hole is challenge even with a well placed drive, and the 18th reminds you can’t let up at the end. Front nine is great for confidence building until back-to-back par 5’s on 12 and 13. Bring 3 sleeves of balls. You’ll need them!
Go somewhere else
No tee markers.. really rude staff starter and ranger have egos and start stuff for no reason. Greens weren't cut in a long time really slow and ball bouncing all over when you putt. Was path only and rough was really long. Was hard to find ball. Ranger had the audacity to try and rush and complain about pace when its path only and the people ahead of us still on the green. Wasn't necessary to be path only either they just think they're Augusta or something with no tee markers and uncut greens and terrible tee boxes.. I drive it far i cant hit until the group ahead clears.. Your buddies behind have to wait like the rest of us.
A top 5 course in NE Ohio
Great course and great condition for golfing in late March. Will "try" again this season at this challenging course!
Beautiful fall golf
Manakiki’s is a gem. Hadn’t played here this year but got out on a beautiful fall day and played 18. The greens had recently been punched but still were in pretty good shape. I love this track.
Twilight deal not so much of deal
Ended up paying for 18holes at 6:20 tee off because no option to pay for 9 was available. Because of daylight was only able to play 9 and was not able to get a raincheck for other 9 or able to get in touch with golfnow about a refund. I am just looking for refund for other half of round for 2 golfers. Any help is appreciated. BE CAREFUL IF OR WHEN BOOKING TEE TIMES!
Great Course
Great course. For the amount of rain the course was in great shape, play was slow, but not excruciating. Greens were hard and fast.
Slow
Like the course, but it’s always way too slow. There has to be something they can do about the pace of play. At one point we were 1 of 5 groups on 1 hole. I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed that before .
