Woodlands/Lakeside at Shaker Run Golf Club
About
Shaker Run Golf Club offers 27 holes of championship golf that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Woodlands/Lakeside Course is the club's original layout designed by Arthur Hills. It was later joined by the gentler Meadows nine. Since opening in 1979, the Woodlands/Lakeside combination has come to be known as one of the best courses in the state. It features challenging elevation changes that are rare for a golf course in Ohio as well as several doglegs and numerous sand traps strategically placed throughout. As the names would suggest, there is also an abundance of water and trees on the course. The fifth hole on the Lakeside nine is Shaker Run's signature hole. The tee box sits nearly 100 feet above the hole and plays into the prevailing winds. It's tricky but if you play to the right of the green, scoring par is definitely possible.

Golfer Reviews
Sunday Slow
Great price, Sunday slow. At this price($25) they probably overbooked. Howevever, this is a quality facility and I could not really complain. Some of the greens had some bad spots, but overall pretty good.
Disappointed
Tee time was set for Original course - very scenic - but they stuck us on the new course... intermingled with housing development. Only played 9. Pace of play was extremely slow. 5 carts waiting for tenth - started raining very hard - decided to go home - didn't bother with rain check as we were not coming back. 2 out of 9 greens played were not bad... other 7 were not good at all. Expected country club greens... got farmland greens. No drainage in bunkers.
Bad timing, maybe but I don't think so....
Slow, pace , no ranger, greens were burned up, traps were full of water. Started at 8:00 and didn't get done until 1:30
Tough course!!
3 of us played in less than 3 hrs!! Played Woodlands to Meadows. Greens were in nice shape.... a couple of bad spots on a few of Meadows greens. #3 Woodlands and #5 Meadows have to be the toughest par 4s around.
Shaker Run Golf Club - Original 18
Beautiful golf course. Well worth the money. Easily one of the best in the northern Cincinnati area!
Course play
We had a 7.20 tee time and it took till 1230 to finish.
There was a group in front of us that was really slow and I am not sure they played the right course. No starter or ranger to assure time of play.
They were in pro shop arguing over a $39 price and at 740 tee time.
We were at 7.20 and they were in front of us and
we paid $65. Where was the starter at the first hole to make sure they played the correct course.
We did not see many holes that had water on them. It was hot so definitely needed it. Maybe need to get more coolers out on the course.
All in all just made the time seem horrible. Yes we had a good time and made the best of it it is just the little things that go along way.
Great course
One of the most beautiful courses I've ever played! Would recommend to anyone
Tale of 2 nines
Played Woodlands/Meadows.
Course was very wet, path only. Many bunkers filled with water from previous nights rain, especially on Meadows 9.
Overall conditions ok, but there was a noticeable difference in conditioning of the 2 nines
Weather was hot & humid. There was no drinking water anywhere on the course & did not see a "cart girl" all morning.
Not the Shaker I used to know
Very sad. I used to love this course but the place was pretty awful this morning. The tee boxes are destroyed and I don't mean just between the markers but I mean the entire tee box is covered in divots. I played a different course earlier in the week for $7.50 and it was so much nicer than this course that cost me $60.
What else bothered me? How about weeds EVERYWHERE. On the greens, in the fairway, on the tee box, in the rough, it didn't matter you could find weeds growing everywhere.
Final biggest complaint? No true starter. The guy giving us a cart was a giant pain in the butt to see my receipt but then we were left to go as we please. Not a problem for us but the people who teed off before us? Yeah. They paid to play the meadows ($35) but then jumped in front of us. Which is fine except IT TOOK US 5 hours to play the round. That would be bad except we teed off at 7;30. Do you think any decent course has a 5 hour time to play a round if you tee off at 7:30?
Over priced
Great price with Golf Now but would never pay $50+ to play here
Early golfers
Tee time was 0720, early but great discount on round, except there was tractor noise on almost every hole. They put liquid fertilizer on greens, they were cutting fairways, then when we made turn, clubhouse had nothing to eat till 10 am
And not friendly! Golf is always fun, but play this course after 9 am to get the full treatment
overall course was in good shape
The greens are in terrible shape. For the money you pay to play there and the great weather we have had this summer, no reason for the greens to be in this bad of shape.
worst greens I've played on this year, no excuse for the greens to be this bad.
Would not recommend this course to anyone for this price. Was very disappointed, golfed here several times in the past couple years, first time this year, it was a big let down on how bad the greens were. It has not been a hot dry summer, no reason for them to be in that bad of shape. For the fee they charge, course should be in pristine condition.

I expected better course conditions with the reputation and price of Shaker Run
Greens were a disappointment !
The greens were the worst I have witnessed since moving into the area. Had heard mixed opinions about Shaker Run and finally had the opportunity to see for myself. Some very nice holes.
Besides the greens being patched and spotty - could not find a garbage can on any tee. Also a very hot day and needed a beverage cart. Had to stop in after 9 and inquire about the lack of beverages. Not sure I would return.
Greens are bouncy and unpredictable with disease
Great layout, but greens are slow, diseased, bouncy, bare spots, ant holes all over the place. If you like to score, the putting will really disappoint you.
Best condition in recent years
Original 18 holes at Shaker Run is a fantastic layout. The course is finally back to good playing condition after an abysmal last few seasons. Holes #9 and #18 are as memorable as any in the area.
Really poor course management
Played early on a Saturday Original 18 lakeside to woodlands. First 9 went fine, not crowded, good pace, but surprise! made the turn, and there were 5 foursomes ahead of us now ! HUGE change of pace, got really, really slow, took 1 hour to complete the first 3 holes. It's because their 'new' way of filling up the golf course that allows for multiple tee times from different starting locations (they charge also more depending which course you play/start from). We played the most expensive Original 18 only to get bumped back at the turn with players that were starting their round there. Looks like this guys are getting a bit too greedy trying to fill out every tee time at the 3 9 hole courses regardless of how packed it will get with groups running into each other... We also found out they had the course packed because they had an outing starting at 1.00 pm. On a Saturday.
Interesting day
I was informed that paying only $25 entitled me to 9 holes of golf on the course. Should have been 18. Tried to argue the point but got no where. Play 9 and contacted Golf Now and they handled the situation and the course contacted me to fix it above and beyond. Love this course!!!!!!
