The Grizzly Golf & Social Lodge - Grizzly Course
About
The Grizzly Course is a collaboration between Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead. Since opening in 1972, this challenging layout has been host to numerous PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA events. The golf course features long, curvy fairways lined with towering trees and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. The three final holes feature water hazards, which are also accompanied by a difficult array of bunkers. It offers a fair amount of difficult holes but overall the course is playable for a range of skill levels, which is why it is an appealing layout for tournaments. In addition to the two courses, the Golf Center also boasts an 11,000-square foot putting green and an Academy Course with four championship holes.
Also known as The City of Mason Golf Center - Grizzly Course.

stacked up on fairway! #Grizzly Photo submitted by todski26 on 11/12/2012
Staff was friendly course Ok considering time of year
Pace of play was terrible. There was no ranger to help with pace. The group in front of us never played before and they would not let anyone play through. Need a RANGER!
The Grizzly at Kings Island
course recently aerated, only reason I noted "requires attention".
Have always enjoyed the "Grizzly"
Nice course with a good variety of holes
The course is well-maintained and has a nice variety of holes. The layout is very nice with enough variation to make it interesting. It played a little slow on that particular day but overall a very nice experience.
A Challenging Jack Nicholas design
I play here a couple of times a year and I enjoy each round because the course is challenging but fair. You can see the trouble but there are bail out areas which give you playing options. The rough is kept long so you want to keep the ball in the fairway. The only negatives are that there are very few yardage markers on the course so finding a yardage takes too much time so being a GPS or scope to get the yardages or you will will get frustrated hunting for sprinkler heads with the yardage markers worn or broken off. This course does wind through housing developments so this is not a walking course because there are multiple times where the green and next tee seem to be long distance apart. Houses do get close to a couple of holes so if you are looking for a parkland course in the country, this is not the course for you. As on every course play from the right tees and you will enjoy your round.
Beautiful course, but homes along fairways are a distraction
My son and I played the West/North course and enjoyed the well-kept fairways and greens. Since I don't get out much to play--once or twice a year, the course is intimidating with the homes and warning signs along the fairways. We had a mid-afternoon tee time on a weekday, which provided a pace which we were not hurried. I would recommed this course for future playing.
This course is terrific!
This is a terrific golf course......the fairway grass is as nice as the greens..
A bit disappointed
I was a bit disappointed considering this was a Jack Nicklaus course.
nice course
It was a very nice layout with many interesting and challenging holes. We played late in the afternoon, and around the holes the greens were a bit chewed up. Overall though, a good experience for the golfnow price.
Great value...slow play.
You'll have a hard time finding a better course for the money and the back tees provide an entirely different experience/challenge. My only complaint is that we had 5 hours of light to get in 18 and still only finished 15 holes.
Not your old Grizzly
First time I'd played here in years. The West nine had long drives between holes. Fairways were mostly great as were the greens, but the west nine greens were slower. Thick rough from recent rains made for slow play. The Golfnow price made for a great deal.
great course but slow
Course is in great shape, staff is friendly but always behind schedule. I've played 4 times in past two months because they have great rates but expect to wait at each hole.
Odd layout
I remember playing and going to this course years ago when the Kroger championship was there. Haven't been there in years but they must be spending their money on tennis cause this course was strangely laid out and in bad shape. I won't be returning anytime soon.
Good Enough
at $18 for 18 holes I wasn't sure what to expect. The fairways were well maintained and the greens were average but certainly good enough for me.
It all seemed cramped, smashed in between housing developments.
There wasn't a ton of variety.
The starters were very nice and helpful. Not enough variety for me to go twice but definitely worth going once, especially fro the price.
Play was slow
Play was slow. I am not sure why the starters were not pushing the groups in front of us. No beverage cart even though the course was packed was not good......
This course is tight with housing.
You must be accurate with your shots. Warning signs are obvious for property damage or injury. Why i'm i responsible to pay for errant shots? Doesn't homeowner insurance cover that?
The course course was well taken care of.
This course was in great condition, starter very knowledgeable of the course and got us started ontime, pace of play was very slow.
SLOW
I went on a Friday afternoon teeing off at 2:40. Playing as a single I was immediately paired with another single on the first hole. We had a great time playing together. The only negative for the day was the pace of play. We were waiting 5 minutes or more on every tee. I have played here before and for some reason the older gentlemen 4-somes refuse to let faster paced players play through.
good course
good course. could not see a justification for the pricing, there is a lot better courses in the area at the same price range. It's starting to look a little tired.>>
Well maintained
Course is in great shape fast pace of play but on this one u could leave the driver at home
The course has gone downhill
extremely slow play
fairways and greens in poor condition9/1
