Neither the pro shop nor the starter informed me the back 9 was closed until after I finished my front 9. The course didn’t delay New golfers going off there front 9 so there was a big delay to reply the same 9. I’ve played there a lot over the past 10 years, it’s disappointing to see such poor organization from the staff.

Conditions good for all the heat and rain we had
Course was green, and fast even after all the rain. A little soggy in spots, but better than most in the area.

Recent Course Aeration
Recent aeration and thick rough detracted from an enjoyable round. Also only the front nine was open and repeat of front nine to complete eighteen holes. All in all still a good round of golf.

Great conditions, so-so design
I don't play this course too often and I tend to forget all the holes which tells me it's not all that interesting. But this NoVa Parks course was in good shape today, albeit in very wet condition following rains and heavy dew.
This course is great for walking and play moved along well. The layout is fairly long and even though it was designed in the 1990s, it follows the 1950s/1960s style of design, with many parallel holes lined, by woods or trees, making it a pretty property but a dull course (not unlike NoVa Parks' other course in Loudoun, Algonkian). Most every hole can be approached on the ground, with few forced carries to the green.
The par-3 12th is a pretty hole, and 5 through 7 is a memorable stretch, starting with a severe dogleg 5th that is short but fraught with challenges. 6 has a lake running along the lefthand side the length of the hole and 7 is a long, narrow par 5.

Mediocre
No character. Flat. Just very average. The greens were ok. Fairway were ok. Tee box were ok. Nothing bad. Nothing great either

Quit after 12
The rough was extremely thick and impossible to find your ball. I lost 4 balls after good drives just off the fairway. This isnt the freaking US Open. Cut the dang rough! Pace of play was horrible and I couldnt take how slow it was so didnt even finish. A refund would be great.

We are working hard to keep the rough cut low and spend a considerable amount of time each week doing so. We hope to have you back for another round and a better experience.

Great Muny; Greens Much Better
A few weeks ago I was critical of the greens due to the numerous ball marks. Don't know what happened but people seem to be fixing their ball marks or maintenance is helping out. Greens are much better! This is a solid course. Some people say it's a little pricy but hey you are living in Loudoun County. Fairways have always been in great shape. Just a fun course to play with a good mix of holes.

Front nine was very slow. Back nine much better. Course seemed to be in good shape. Greens probably need to be rolled - some were very slow.

We are very sorry to hear about your experience and for the miscommunication. It sounds like our aeration script informing golfers of the situation and closure was not communicated to your group. During aeration, we block tee times to avoid a log jam of cross over play from guests playing the same 9 twice. We did have an unexpected closure of the back 9 for the day which is not typical during aeration. Normally, our back 9 opens up mid afternoon for play to continue on. We are very sorry for the circumstances and will do a better job of communicating in the future.
