South Riding Golf Club
About
South Riding Golf Club is nestled in the gentle hills of northern Virginia, enjoying a landscape of hardwood forests and grassy meadows. The course offers a variety of challenges but the fairways are wide and player-friendly and the greens can be tough in spots but overall they offer some room for error. The layout requires both strategy and skill, it is definitely not a golf course where you will be able to just "grip and rip it." The course pinpoints your weaknesses but it is still a fair test. South Riding Golf Club's eighth hole is memorable for its difficulty but it's an interesting hole sine there are many ways to play it. At 351 yards, the hole is a short but intimidating dogleg left that will tempt you to go over the trees. The fairway is generous but the saddle-shaped green is flanked with bunkers.

Interesting
Nice layout. Flat. Good pace of play. Fastest greens I ever played. 10 foot putts just kept rolling.
Great Time
Had a great time playing the course. I will be back!
Decent course
I enjoy the course. There are a couple of holes you have to play smart. Pace of play was a bit slower than usual.
Staff friendly.
Nice layout but overwatered
Enjoyed the layout of the course, challenging but fun. However, I cannot understand why many of the fairways were soaked since there hadn’t been any rain for weeks.
back to crappy shape
Well, it was a good run SRGC...too bad you're back to having your tees overrun by crab grass and your fairways not draining...the course was in great shape late last year and very early this year, but i guess they forgot what they did to recover it and it's back to looking like a cow pasture. I WILL admit that the greens were decent, rolled pretty well, but the clientele apparently do not understand the phrase "fix your ball marks" (also divots would be nice)...
DEFINITELY nowhere near worth $130 on weekends, barely worth $80 on a hot deal, sorry to say. I'll save $30 and play Brambleton, which is close and in decent condition.
What a shame...it's a great layout...
Great round!
Could not have asked for a better outing. Staff was great, course was even better. Loved the layout, challenging but not too difficult. Food and drink was average, host was nice but scattered.
Good local course
Nice fun layout. Fair course. Greens good shape little spongy but it is summer. Surprisingly rough was touch but in good shape. Fairways have a lot of chunks as people not fixing or filling divots. Greens are smoother and better than other local courses where people not repairing divots. I always fix a few in each green.
They had no cart person on a Sunday late morning so unacceptable. They have no drinking water on any homes and it was hot. Club pro failed to tell us free water bottles outside club house. We stacked up after nine holes with many bottles.
I will go again when can get a hot deal
Not worth the money
The course is good. It’s everything else about this club that needs renovating. The club is old and needs a serious renovation. Putting green is good but the driving range is a mess. The cart path is horrendous. There are no water stations anywhere on the course. Beverage cart came by once in 4.5 hours but had very limited items. No water, no non alcoholic drinks and no food or snacks on cart.
The pace of play is slow. 10+ minutes between shots.
If you are going to charge $120+ for a round of golf every thing else matters and south riding doesn’t have it. It’s not just the fairways and greens.
July 4
My son (14) and I played 18 in a cart at 210p and finished at 5:15p. Insane pace of play we saw no one for 16 holes. Great course very different layouts front v back. Extremely well run in great shape w really surprisingly good greens, still a bit of a hidden gem in NOVA.
Country club price point is outrageous for community golf course
Good community course, good conditions, nice greens. Nice range, new carts, thick rough. Little pricey 💰 🏌⛳️
good course. but...
SRGC is a great course with a fun and challenging layout, scenic holes, and friendly staff.
the "BUT" part is...i got a GN deal for $81, on the weekends they will bilk you for $130, which is ridiculously over-priced...
also, while the course is in great shape, putting the hole on a slope when you have the greens rolling super fast is just unnecessarily punitive
i will still play here, but i will certainly keep an eye on the cost...they have basically doubled the price since COVID...
Value
$90 for a weekday tee time at this course is a bit much. For that kind of money you would expect the rough to be mowed better, cart pathways to be paved properly, and a beverage cart. I understand we have had a lot of rain lately but the amount of pot holes along the cart paths is ridiculous. Also, for $90 you would expect to have a beverage cart at some point but there was not one.
