Nice course, bad staff
The course itself was in exceptional condition and was a nice experience to golf. However, the issue with this course comes from the staff. I arrived 30 minutes early for my tee time and I found that the clubhouse was locked with the open sign still displayed. This was unusual as there was in the early afternoon on a Thursday and there was a group ahead of me already teeing off on Hole 1. After 25 minutes of standing outside the clubhouse and knocking on the door and calling the front desk, the only person working finally opened the door and let me in to pay for my tee time and proceeded to act very unprofessionally as I was asking if this was a normal occurrence for paying patrons.
This was not the end of the staff issues, as I went back to the clubhouse after playing the front nine holes to purchase some cold beverages as the temperatures were in the 90s+ that day. AGAIN the door to the clubhouse is locked and open sign still displayed but now the lights and turned off. I knock on the door with no response, and the. I walk around the building to look in the window and see the same employee now laying his head down on the desk and sleeping! This is highly unprofessional behavior for an establishment with clearly posted business hours and patrons still golfing on the course. I will not be coming back and implore others to heed my warning.

Don't waste your cash. Advertised as 18 holes, but it is 9 greens with different tees that are very hard to find. Also charged more than Golf Now had indicated and had to go back to get a refund.
Open course layout. Course was in great condition. Only 9 holes. The “back” 9 have different tee boxes to make it “18” holes.
Nice course for the price
This is a nice, no-frills course. The fairways and greens are well kept. The layout was a much mix of challenging and easier holes.
A good time.
For the first round of the year this was just the right course. It is only 9 holes but an ok layout. I could see big back ups if it gets crowded because your teeing off from different boxes playing the same hole. Other than that, it was fun.
Nice course some challenges nice and open pace of play was good. looking forward to my next round here
Good round
Weather was a lite drizzle but dry enough to play a good round of golf. course was in great shape. Greens were perfect shape fairways were great.
Hidden gem
Beautiful, no frills course. Real hidden gem if you want to play and relax.
Price was fair for this course.
greens were actually in very good shape fairways were not bad it’s a nine hole course with two sets of tee boxes to play twice around for 18. I wasn’t aware of this —probably should be explained to the newcomers but we were paired up with a gentleman who had played there before so it wasn’t as confusing once we made the turn to the “back nine. Friendly staff and we had a good time. Would play there again.
Fun quick round
This place is a lot of fun! Look at the prices, you shouldn’t expect an Augusta national level course. However, it’s a good price and a fun layout. Fairways are a little long and tee boxes could use some work but the greens are actually better than most courses 3 times the price, decent undulation too. A great place to play a quick 9 after work or a weekend evening. I walked and it is a pretty easy walk, very hilly.
Hidden gem
This coarse is always in very good condition. The recent storms did make some areas soggy but overall a great round. The staff was excellent! Very friendly and helpful. Love this place.
Not Fun
First off, this is a 9 hole course with different tee boxes which were very confusing. The course is way too hard and just not fun to play. The fairways were not in good condition, the greens were however. Too much money for a 9 hole course.
2nd time playing here with One Word, FANTASTIC!
For those golfers who might not know about this course, this FRGC is 2nd Oldest GC in VA, built in 1938!!!
Any enthusiastic golfers should come play this course at least once.
Yes, this is 9 REGULAR hole going twice but back nine has very different approaches so does not feel you are playing same.
Layout of the course is very interesting also so it's very challenging but fun at same time.
For the long hitters, really need to aim carefully since most of the fairways are doglegged.
For the beginners, this is also fun since it offers short tee boxes. [Let go your ego and tee off from appropriate distance].
Some are blind shots so read the course map carefully and you will enjoy the game!
Hit'em straight my golf friends!
