About
The Riverbend Golf Complex sits along the Green River in Kent Valley, Wash. Owned and operated by the City of Kent, the complex offers a championship, 18-hole course and a mini-golf course. The 18-hole course is one of the busiest in the state with more than 65,000 rounds played on it annually. The golf course sprawls across a relatively flat landscape, making it easily walkable. Though it may not be hilly, that doesn't mean it's trouble free. There are more than 50 bunkers strategically placed throughout and three lakes come into play as well. The layout is player friendly, with enough variety to appeal to players of all skill levels.

Flat, Walkable Public Track
Riverbend's 18 is still called that, even though the 9-hole PAR-3 course was demolished over 3 years ago. The Driving Range and products pro shop is across the street. The pro shop at the course is tiny and the late afternoon staff seemed to view my entrance into their establishment as an intrusion, rather than the purpose of them being there. Course does have a nice practice green for putting and another one for chipping, including a large bunker to practice sand shots. This is a public, municipal run course that gets a lot of play and while the greens were OK, I fixed at least 5 ball marks per green but most still looked like a moonscape with craters left from less courteous players. No elevation changes make this a walking friendly track. There is plenty of water and sand to avoid, but good players should find it easy to score. The restaurant (Half Lion Brewery) has been shut down since NOV 2023. I believe they filed bankruptcy, and this may be why the city hasn't been able to boot them out and get a new tenant to try and make a go of the place.
Nice course
This was my second time playing this course. Our tee time was 7:57, I was in a 4 some and we never had to wait for the group ahead of us. It’s a nice wide open course good for me cause I didn’t play well and was on the fringes all day. It’s just hard enough to be challenging and fun. Just wish the restaurant was open.
Nice greens
Course in good shape, nice fairways, speedy greens, some tees are rough. On course bar/restaurant has closed., dunno why.

No amenities
Decent course but arriving we discovered the clubhouse has been closed for 9 months. Come on City of Kent, how can you allow your course to operate without any food and beverage services? Especially during peak season! Great management! The nice kid in the pro shop had a soft drink beverage fridge with a few 7-11 type items in there, but come on! Not even snack bar or beverage cart. Had I known, I probably would have booked another course or at least brought my own.

Layout was okay, fairway was decent, not great, but the greens were in excellent shape despite the rain. Pace was great and we were able to finish 18 holes in 4 hours + a bit. With friendly staff, I am satisfied.
