Riverbend Golf Complex
About
The Riverbend Golf Complex sits along the Green River in Kent Valley, Wash. Owned and operated by the City of Kent, the complex offers a championship, 18-hole course and a mini-golf course. The 18-hole course is one of the busiest in the state with more than 65,000 rounds played on it annually. The golf course sprawls across a relatively flat landscape, making it easily walkable. Though it may not be hilly, that doesn't mean it's trouble free. There are more than 50 bunkers strategically placed throughout and three lakes come into play as well. The layout is player friendly, with enough variety to appeal to players of all skill levels.

The golf outing. Photo submitted by mastergolfer12 on 09/26/2012
Greens and fairways tee to Green great condition!
The course was in great shape. I would highly recommend it to any mid to high handicap golfer. It's fairly forgiving, but has enough hazards to be challenging. The greens were in super shape but very puttable (if that's a word). The fairways were terrific and most of all we had a great round of golf.
Pace of Play
I would recommend this course with the caveat that the pace of play is very slow. I think the starter needs to do a better job of staggering groups and the course marshal needs to do a better job of pushing groups along so they stay on pace. It was a long frustrating round but the layout is good.
Greens were good speed. Maybe a little too soft, but still quick
The course was packed. I don't mean that in a bad way because we did tee off in the middle of the day. The greens had a great speed to them. They may have been a little too soft. The overall condition of the course was great, however. Just as expected in the middle of the summer.
Great course overall!
Generally flat, well - maintained with nice greens and not too busy.
the course was in ok condition
too many people, play was very slow, will not play again
Nice course
The course is flat, but has a lot of challenges and hazards. The only negative is the sand in the traps, it's either too hard when wet and too soft when they dry out.
Dry, Straight, flat and fun.
Even though it rained a bit the night before (and sprinkled us on a few holes), the fairways were fairly fast and the greens were good. No oddball holes, not much elevations change. There was enough variety to keep you thinking. A fun Sunday round!
Can't beat the hot deal price of $29 with a power cart
The round was slow and there are a lot of beginners out there but for the deal you can't really beat it. Course is in actually pretty good condition for the price. Greens are firm and rolled pretty true. I am a 4.2 handicapper and I never felt like I missed a put because the greens bounced my ball away from the course. Worth checking out.
The rough cut was way too long
They need to break out the mower and when they do, don't leave chucks of grass in the fairway
This course if great, no hills and beautiful mountain views
Friendly and courteous staff, great course to play. No hills
A great course
I wish I live by Kent, Wa. I would go everyday. Its a great course.
Riverbend wants their money
This course is maintained very well for its location. Unfortunately it sits at the bottom of a valley therefor, it can be very soggy. They seem to overload this course and push you to keep pace. Recently played a 3hr 55min round in a foursome with carts and were told to pick up the pace 4 times. Seems to me that the course is holding to its reputation of being "the busiest" around by cramming groups together to make more money. the layout tends to slow the play down, other groups will be in your fairways forcing you to wait to hit shots. I found it sad that the staff was so pushy considering all of this.
Need to mow
Lost a ball on the first hole. Non fairway grass needs to be cut on the entire course. Balls just disappear. Admitidly I missed the fairway, but there's no way I should not have been able to find it. Speed of play would be increased if rough was cut down. Fairways also on the long side but that wasn't such a big deal.
Good Public Course
Riverbend always gets alot of play. Relax and enjoy the round. Husband and wife combinations frequent the course , but are no faster or slower than the groups in front of them. I have played there for 25 years and always come away satisfied.
Play is always slow.
The course was in very poor condition. Fairways and greens were in dire need of being mowed. Greens were very spongy and inconsistent. Event though there were very few golfers on the course, play was extremely slow and when brought to the attention of the staff nothing was done to speed up play. No marshals on duty (they are really for show anyway and have never sped up play any time I've played here when they were on duty). Overall the only reason we played there was it was halfway for our threesome to meet. We'll more than likely play somewhere else next time.
Great stormy day
The weather was stormy, but I had a great day. Very large course for a short person, lots of water hazards, smooth sand in traps (managed to avoid all but 1). Greens were lakes, but it was a rainstorm. One putt actually skipped across a cup full of water. The staff was quite cordial when I arrived, but the guy there when I left was bland and just stared at me. The only real negative was the wimpy cart.
In good shape for Nov., esp greens.
Played Nov 9th in sun. No standing water. Fairways a little thin in spots on clay/loam, but not a problem for winter rules. Rough was thick. Greens were soft but faster than expected. Generally expect cart paths only for winter play. Had a great time.
awesome for the money !!
great course with obstacles and good price for the course
Nice, large fair way, green in good sharp, friendly staff, good deal
Nice golf course, large fair way, green in good sharp, friendly staff, good deal. special deal for over 55 yrs old.
Great deal on an above average course.
Course is in good condition with above average greens. Plays over 6,000 yards from the white tees so it is a good challenge.
