Highlands Golf Course
About
Highlands Golf Course in Tacoma, Wash. is a nine-hole course that can be played in just over an hour. All of the holes are par 3 except for one par 4. It's not your typical nine-hole course, the layout is like a full-size course shrunken down to a par 3 with several challenging elements that will test your short-game skills. The terrain is relatively flat, making it an easy golf course to walk, and it is relatively protected from the winds. The sand traps are sparse but strategically placed, and water hazards come into play occasionally as well. Highlands Golf Course is an ideal layout for beginners to get some short-game practice, but for more advanced players it's an excellent option for a quick round that is more challenging than your average nine-hole layout.

Great to get 9 in
Awesome course with challenges each hold. Great for beginners and advanced players
First time
Loved the variety of the course. There are relatively short par 3s that are 100 yards & long ones that are 200 yards. Loved the intimidation of all the water. Greens rolled super nice. I will for sure be visiting again
Review
The course layout is great given that it is sandwiched in a crowded neighborhood, giving an impression of having been brutally encroached and suffocated by housing developments.
The course was almost closed because you could only play on mats. The course was very wet but I was okay with this. I would be happy to play again in the summer.
I did not feel welcome. The person at the pro shop was so absorbed in what he was doing that he spoke only when spoken to, unlike other courses where they begin before you reach the counter.
I feel the the transaction was “take it or leave it”
My go-to
I love this course and it has been my spot since I got into golf. They are always working on and making improvements to the tee boxes which I appreciate it. Friendly staff, if you hit the times right, you can take your time. Mid morning can be slow but that’s the time the community plays.
Exactly what I expected
I enjoyed my game here, I am a new player and I was not overly intimidated. Great putting and chipping areas to practice.
Hidden Gem
This is a great course that will test your accuracy and depth perception. Water features and well maintained sand traps add to the fun. I definitely recommend this course for all skill levels.
Great Par 3 Course
Was looking for a place to get my son out for his first round on a real course. Was pleasantly surprised when I found this place. Price was great and the course was excellently maintained. Good mix of distance, a few challenging bunker placements, and even a couple water holes. Would visit more often if it wasn't a 30 minute drive for me. Great place to get a quick 9 in and work on the short game.
Par three with some length
Great course to walk nice part three
a challenging Par three with a variety of distances
