Can you tame the monster...
This course has come a long, long way in conditioning. A lot of short but tight holes, and one monster (630 yards) hole sure to be remembered. The course is full of interesting and challenging holes nestled in the middle of beautiful surroundings.
Don't let the relatively short tees lull you, they'll bite back.
This course was excellent and challenging. Staff was very friendly and professional
The staff is very friendly and professional. The course was excellent, challenging, and in great condition. I would highly recommend this less known course which is an excellent place to play. Take the short drive from Portland and check it out.
Poor timing
I arrived for my tee time 15 minutes early and was then told I was going to tee off an hour from my original tee time... Normally this wouldn't be a big deal for me but I couldn't even finish my round because of the pace of play and sunset. Although I reserved this tee time for a very good price I was still pretty upset at the staffs poor timing of tournaments. In my opinion they shouldn't have made the tee time available if they were running an afternoon tournament!!
Very friendly staff and nice pace of play
I do not make it up to this course all that often but am always surprised by how close it really is to Portland. The staff is friendly, the food is good and the golf course was in very nice shape. My only knock on the course is the driving range is pretty rough from a hitting area. I do not have any issues with it being an iron only range but the teeing areas leave a little to be desired. All in all though it was a very nice experience.
Fun to play
Nice course lay out, well maintain, challenging, green are fun to put on. The 649 yard par 5 was awesome.
Layout of the course is pretty nice. Old trees line most of the course for fairway protection and are an easy punch out recovery.
The pace of play on a monday am was a little slow. The 4some ahead of us was training 2 students and the staff pro was even giving tips to them on the back 9. No offer for us ( a 2some ) to play through. Other than that, the course was in great shape and maintained well. The price was a bit much for a weekday morning and a Golf Now special.
Well maintained and challenging.
This course may be a bit of a drive, but worth it. Very friendly staff, challenging and well maintained. Lewis River is a must to play.
Course is well maintained, greens are in great shape.
This course is always a pleasure to play. Well worth the drive to Woodland.
So beautiful you almost forget to hit the ball.
This course is beautifully landscaped and maintained. A true Northwest course with bent grass faiways, perfect greens, and towering fir trees. Oh, and then there is the 629 yard par 5! You won't find another hole like this one anywhere else.
Fun to play with some very challenging holes. You won't be sorry you went out of the way to play here.
THis course challenges all your skills.
Great time. Front Nine is not long but takes a little planned navigation. Back Nine has the length challenge. The View and the course are beautiful with the Lewis River in the background. Good times.
Good condition any very challenge at back nine
Different tee off have different difficulty level and very challenge at back nine when you play blue tee.
A must play before 2:00 PM
The course to save money does not have a starter
or marshal after 2:00 PM. We blew thru the front side
But on the back nine we had a twosome start in front
of us. A man and a woman they hit 5 or 6 balls off every tee
about 50 to 60 Yards then the woman gave the guy swing
lessons. They would not let us play thru and ruined the back
Side for us. So I will not play this course again after
2:00 PM. Otherwise I highly recommend it.
Fun course to play
Front 9 is much easier and shorter... course really starts on the 620 yard 12th hole, one of 3 par 5's on the back (only 1 on the front) Course was in really good condition and pace of play was awesome (4 hours on a sunday, are you kidding?)
Beautiful surroundings
Beautiful course and well maintained. Nice place to eat on the patio by the river. Great staff.
Beautiful course! Very fun hidden course, beautiful landscape.
Great course especially for the price we payed! its half basic holes then the other half fun interesting built holes! Beautiful landscape, great placed water hazards. Staff was nice and relaxed! Was my second time playing this course. I would recommend this course for sure.
The course has great views.
The green fees are reasonable, the staff is friendly and the course is in great shape. What more can you ask for? It takes about 40 minutes to drive to Lewis River from Portland, but well worth the drive.
This course has two negatives:
First negative is that you cannot use an ATT cellular device within a half mile of the course. No ability to use an ATT cell phone at all especially if you are tracking your scores on Golf Shot or other cellular activity. For physicians this poses no opportunity to play if you are on call.
Second negative is that the greens are awful!! Seemingly the roller is broken and been that way for three weeks. The greens are bad, spongy, slow and bumpy. Not a good deal even if they give you a free round!!
Very disappointed with my outing. This course is and could be an excellent experience, but it is in need of attention and love!! I was told by one of the workers that their revenue is targeted at best ball groups and weddings!!
Amazing course and a scenic delight!
We drove up from Oregon to play the course and would have to say it was so worth it. its a fantastic hidden course right on the river. It was easy to walk and the landscaping was exquisite. once you go you will be hooked!
Great course
This course is a favorite. It is a very beautiful course with a couple very long par 5 holes. It is a bit of a drive which keeps the cost down, but if this were closer to town, it would be a $80 course. It can easily be played year-round; however, there is the occasional soggy spot. If there was ever a course to walk, this is it. Relatively flat and not long distances between holes. The river along a couple holes and a few lakes add to the forest beauty of Lewis River.
