Fun course to play
Front 9 is much easier and shorter... course really starts on the 620 yard 12th hole, one of 3 par 5's on the back (only 1 on the front) Course was in really good condition and pace of play was awesome (4 hours on a sunday, are you kidding?)
Beautiful surroundings
Beautiful course and well maintained. Nice place to eat on the patio by the river. Great staff.
Beautiful course! Very fun hidden course, beautiful landscape.
Great course especially for the price we payed! its half basic holes then the other half fun interesting built holes! Beautiful landscape, great placed water hazards. Staff was nice and relaxed! Was my second time playing this course. I would recommend this course for sure.
The course has great views.
The green fees are reasonable, the staff is friendly and the course is in great shape. What more can you ask for? It takes about 40 minutes to drive to Lewis River from Portland, but well worth the drive.
This course has two negatives:
First negative is that you cannot use an ATT cellular device within a half mile of the course. No ability to use an ATT cell phone at all especially if you are tracking your scores on Golf Shot or other cellular activity. For physicians this poses no opportunity to play if you are on call.
Second negative is that the greens are awful!! Seemingly the roller is broken and been that way for three weeks. The greens are bad, spongy, slow and bumpy. Not a good deal even if they give you a free round!!
Very disappointed with my outing. This course is and could be an excellent experience, but it is in need of attention and love!! I was told by one of the workers that their revenue is targeted at best ball groups and weddings!!
Amazing course and a scenic delight!
We drove up from Oregon to play the course and would have to say it was so worth it. its a fantastic hidden course right on the river. It was easy to walk and the landscaping was exquisite. once you go you will be hooked!
Great course
This course is a favorite. It is a very beautiful course with a couple very long par 5 holes. It is a bit of a drive which keeps the cost down, but if this were closer to town, it would be a $80 course. It can easily be played year-round; however, there is the occasional soggy spot. If there was ever a course to walk, this is it. Relatively flat and not long distances between holes. The river along a couple holes and a few lakes add to the forest beauty of Lewis River.
Course has a 640 yard par 5 hole.
Great weather. Course is good shape. Pace of play was frustrating.
this course has real nice setting next to river
awesome day of golf with friends. good weather, nice fairways and fast greens .trees and river with a light breeze ,it dosn't get any beter in the northwest.
This course has some great features.
The 12th hole is 613 yards from the white tees and may be the longest is Washington State. The 16th is a relatively short par 4 with a sharp dog leg left over a pond with a fountain. The overall course condition there are good with well maintained grounds.
The course is located on the Lewis river and is very scenic.
The staff is friendly and they have a full service restaurant and bar overlooking the Lewis river.
Course was very busy but always a pleasure
Course was stacked as expected on first real sunny weekend with good weather. Marshall did best they could to keep it moving but all it takes is one group to log jam everyone on the course behind them. Greens were just punched so ran a little slow. However, the course is always a pleasure to play and provides a tight shotmakers approach to front and bombers style on the back - great mix.
A very mature, challenging course.
The course is in great condition. Very good drainage only one soft spot in front of #9 green but not real bad. Greens had been cored probably couple months ago, no sand on greens, cores almost filled. Just enough dimples on them to hold your putt a little straighter. 4/22/13 was great day to play, sunny and 65 degrees.
Pro shop guy was rude! Course was in poor condition!
I showed up almost an hour early for my tee time. I told the pro shop guy that and asked if I could go out early and by myself. He said because I had booked my tee time with golfnow.com I got it very cheap and they normally do not let people who do that go out early. But in his words, "I will cut you some slack because we want you to keep coming back", so he allowed it. The course was almost empty, no one was on the first tee or the entire first hole. I did look behind me while playing, no one. The course had plenty of room, I know I was early, why not let someone out early if it does not interfere with anything/anyone. I was also walking, not riding one of their carts. Comments that the guy made were totally unwarranted. I also thought that if I said something to the guy, he would have made me wait 55 minutes until my booked tee time arrived. I've been golfing for 46 years, first time I got that kind of treatment. The course was being plugged as I played, the greens were recently aerated but not sanded or they were not sanded properly. The golfnow.com website did not have a warning about this nor did the golf course advise me of this when I called a day in advance to check on their dress code. I have played this course many times before but nothing like this happened previously.
Fun layout!!
Course was in pretty good shape and the layout is quite fun. The front nine is more old style golf and the back nine is more modern. The fairways and greens were recently aerated, but still in good shape.
Great course design and well kept!
This course is in my top 5 that i play! Always well kept, dryer in the winter than most other courses. The monster par 5 at 620 yards is always exciting and very demanding. Usually not to busy and close to Vancouver-Portland. I would recommend it to anyone!
Course had replacement greens in play and it made for a dissapointing round after an hour drive
Was looking forward to a round out at Lewis River. When I purchased the round it was marked with an "A" for aerating. I would have been ok with that but when we get there we find out no greens are being used and the replacement greens are on the fairway every hole. Feel like that should have been mentioned on the golf now site before we drive an hour. Lewis river is a great course but this was a poor experience because of the replacement greens.
Nice Coarse
Coarse is in GREAT shape. Greens are good,w/no winter burn. Beautiful coarse along Lewis River. Can watch Salmon being caught on hole 17.
Beautifully landscape features
Always enjoy playing Lewis River. My only concern is the lack of signage to the course. Unless you know where you are going you could miss the turnoff. Makes it nice for us who know how to get there. Nicely maintained and offers challenges to us who are not professionals. Water areas are very nicely portrayed. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys a beautiful landscaped facility.
Nice public course
Course was in good shape for 1st week of march. Greens are keep up well.
When you book hot deals from golfnow, the course doesn't get paid for it. As part of the cost of being on golfnow, they give them a couple of tee times to sell on their own. The course doesn't get a dime of any tee times with the orange flame under them. At other courses, I've been held to my tee time when it was empty because they don't want to inconvenience anyone that actually pays them. I'm sure the guy wasn't trying to be a jerk, I hope this helps explain it.
