Sugar Creek/Summit at Alpine Valley Resort

About
In the winter, Alpine Valley is one of Wisconsin's largest ski resorts, but during the summer months the resort's three nine-hole courses serve as the centerpiece. The resort is situated in southern Wisconsin's Kettle Moraine area, which provides an interesting and diverse landscape for each nine. The courses: Summit, Sugar Creek, and Meadows, can be played individually or as 18-hole combinations. The Sugar Creek/Summit course begins along the banks of the front nine's namesake creek. It then climbs upward on the Summit nine, incorporating a variety of interesting elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Golfers should expect some uneven lies. Water comes into play on almost every hole on the Sugar Creek nine but the mature trees and elevation changes pose a bigger threat on the back nine.

Staff was horrible
We had a 4 some ranging from 32 to 62. We are a family playing golf. the cart girl was rude and unbelievably disrespectful. this was bad enough but even the staff at the turn where we ordered some food seed to not care at all. The place had a down vibe. Not a place for fun. We will not return.
Has potential but terrible conditions.
We started off on the “summit” nine holes. Started off strong. The course was in pretty decent condition and had a very nice layout with a lot of challenging holes. Then the round took a complete 180° when we transitioned over to the “meadows” course. The nine was in extremely poor shape. The greens had been just aerated and we’re not properly filled with sand, making putting almost impossible. There was also multiple “tee boxes”, that were nothing more than shortened grass and were in extremely poor shape and we’re not even close to level. The sand traps are also just as much rocks as it is sand. Very disappointing second half of the day. Left a sour taste in my mouth. I understand aeration is a necessary evil, but there’s a right in the wrong way of doing it. These guys have it completely wrong.
Done with golf now site
Bait and switch or poor linkage on the golf site. I get there and there's no reservation so they get two other people to look at and the guy in charge says we're so done with golf now. The course is totally overbooked...there were 6 carts waiting at the first tee and no room for a single. They let me play because I look honest and I have the email for the reservation. But theres no way to play so the starter tells me to go over to sugar creek and play two balls and maybe by then something will open up. Sugar creek is like a par 3 course with some very fun holes but it's not a legal course and it's not what I came to play. The main course was even more backed up when I got done and it would have been dark as I started at 130 pm. They did their best but GolfNow or tee off needs to settle with me. They still had no record that I had paid and they had an overbooked course with no openings. Bait and switch...not sure what to do next.
It’s ok
I’ll put it this way, I wouldn’t pay full price to play here. Odd layout on a bunch of the holes, tress blocking the greens on 1, 10 and 11. Greens were small and hole locations on massive slopes, so difficult it’s almost not fun. Like seriously even if you hit a good putt, if you miss the hole your ball has a chance of rolling off completely. Many tee boxes in really rough shape and not level. Only paid $28 a guy to play so it was ok for the price but certainly a lot better courses out there.
Excellent Day at the Valley
The top 9 holes to me is always the prettiest of the 3 a 9’s but it is coming back from a lot of irrigation work. It was not bad but it is the reason I could not rate it with 5 stars
The greens were in great shape, fast and with break. The pace of play was excellent as we were a two some and never got slower down.
Keep up the good work staff and will be back soon
Alpine Valley Rocks
What a very picturesque place to play, with the ski resort on one side and the music theatre on the other side. Loved it!
Blown away!!
We were blown away by this course. You feel like you have transported to another country!!. The layout is breathtaking, the greens were solid, the fairways were lush and green. We already booked our next round!!! We also are going to stay for Christmas!!!
Pleasant Surprise
This was my first time to Alpine Valley for golf. My expectations were low as I had heard from others, this wasn't a decent place to golf. Were they ever wrong! My experience from the kind and wonderful staff was exceptional and welcoming. The resort has 27 holes. One of their 9 hole courses was closed, but I was able to play the other 2 9 hole courses. The layout for those 18 holes was challenging and fun. Anyone going to play here will be surprised as I was. There was ample opportunity to get on for a round. The carts were nice. The scenery was beautiful. The greens are on the smaller side, but are challenging. The fairways are open, but the rough can be a handful to any level of golfer. Amenities were ample and the staff were very helpful. If you get the opportunity to golf here, you won't be disappointed. When you get there, if you habe a chance to say hello to one of the Rangers named Rick, do so. He knows the ins and outs of all 3 9 hole courses and is very helpful with how to play the course. My overall expectations were exceeded and I will recommend this course to anyone looking for a nice golf course at a very reasonable price. You must try this golf course!
Alpine
Haven't played there in years.
I was surprised that it was in such good condition. it was worth it.
# 3 was closed but that was ok.
Forgot how hilly the course was.
Good thing they have strong electric carts.
