This course is beautiful but...
Having been coming here since it was Bowmans 1972 there is a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and preservation of the 3 courses.
Seeing the last 4 years of up and downs, covid rules, staffing shortage and weather damage to club house and course I would say it's making a great come back! Clearly new management is in force.. the club house has received a make over.
In my opinion in order to charge the fees they seek and keep loyal following the
grounds need far more attention. Though much cleanup and many improvements have been made recently the greens still need work! The mower needs to be used more frequent and tighter cuts on all fair play areas.
I recommend the overall experience as it's a gorgeous natural environment.
Keep up the improvements resort at the Mountain. You have a natural jewel!
Foxglove and Pinecone @MHR
Fairways and boxes in great shape, greens roll smooth and play was 3.5 hrs. Can’t beat the scenery
Great greens
Sand traps need help!!!!!!! Grass, weeds, packed sand.
Poor course upkeep
This is my second round at the course in 2 months, with similar course conditions both times. They seem to been short in staff to keep up the course. Both encounters many of the pin holes were overgrown (needed to be recut) so the putting was to a smaller target. (Golf is hard enough). The fairways had uneven mowing and large clumps of grass sticking up like it was cut super long and wet without going over it a second time. The fairways have become increasingly bumpy and filled with holes as the terrain changes and no effort is placed on flattening the parts that are sinking. The greens are saturated, even in dry weather leaving them super slow. It's a beautiful course and could be so much better with a little more care. It is priced to high for the condition of the course, but I come up because the $28 Hot Deal with a cart is hard to pass up.
Grass along fairways too long so balls lost easily. Needed to be mowed.
Gorgeous Course
I love playing at this resort, its got 3 different 9 hole courses Thistle, Pinecone and Fox Glove.
If you have never played here I’d say it’s a must try course for sure.
Foxglove 9 not ready for play yet
This was the first time this year that the Foxglove 9 was available for play and the pro shop assigned it as one of our 9’s for 18 holes. Foxglove fairways were in rough condition and there were no restrooms on the entire foxglove 9. We ended up walking off after the 7th hole on the back nine (Foxglove 9) because of the conditions and no restrooms. The greens on all three 9’s are a little slow but pretty smooth. Foxglove should not have been opened until it’s fully groomed and ready for play.
The remodeled course restaurant is not very inviting or comfortable. If their goal is not to have anyone sit down and enjoy the views, they are succeeding. Chairs and barstools are some of the most uncomfortable things I have ever seen in a restaurant.
Beautiful setting!!!
There was one slow group ahead of me and they were friendly and let me by, ended up playing with another single for the last 10 holes. The scenery is very beautiful..great course conditions and friendly staff. I'm going to try staying a couple nights at the resort in the future.
Beautiful scenery
Good course for hot days in Mt. Hood resort. Friendly staff. The only minus is that after long winter the Foxglove 9 holes are still close because it's still too wet. It's our favorite 9 holes on the course
Beautiful course
There is a fairly new grounds keeper named chad who has no clue how to maintain and constantly improve course conditions. Also, I’ve heard they lost there pro due to chad’s ineptitude.
