Thistle/Foxglove at Resort at the Mountain, The
About
The Thistle/Foxglove at The Courses at The Resort at the Mountain is the newest combination of nines on this golf course that first opened in 1928. This is a combination of two distinctly different golf courses. The Thistle, which opened in the mid-1960s, at just 2,956 yards long, is regarded as the most forgiving nine - but don't be fooled - it has water hazards on seven of its nine holes. Foxglove, which debuted in 1981, is the resort's toughest nine. The signature hole of the entire resort is Foxglove's first hole, which features a large and ancient rock in the middle of the fairway that golfers try to avoid. Nestled in the Salmon River Valley, the golf course provides a feeling of serenity along with great views of the mountains, including Mount Hood. Open for daily-fee play as well as resort guests, all the courses at The Resort have four sets of tees.

A very good experience
I have played this course before and I always have fun there. It rained this time and it really started pouring after some lightening and thunder so quit after 9 holes.
The course is so much fun!
The Course is so nice, close to Mt. Hood, Great place to eat lunch or dinner, wonderful place to stay. The people at the course are very helpful and kind. It's fun to have 3 nine hole course so you don't have to play the same ones all the time.
Great day, great golf!
My first time playing here in 10 years, and the improvements were noticeable. The Pine Cone 9 is now on a par with the Fox Glove 9. Well worth the trip. My only complaint is the lack of drinking water on the course.
Quick greens!
This is the first time I have played Resort at the Mountain though I have been looking forward to it for a long time. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and the wildlife will surely steal your food if given the chance. I found the fairways and tee boxes looked very good. The fairways were hard and rolled well. My recommendation? Stay out of the rough. It swallowed my ball whole several times. The forest lining some of the holes can make it tough if you're like me with an occasional hard slice. Fortunately, there is not much water on the two courses I played. The staff at the course were exceptional. At the end of my round it was raining very hard and one of the attendants came out to get my cart while I unloaded at my car so I wouldn't have to walk back in the rain. In addition, he wiped off my back with a towel! What I nice guy! I really look forward to playing this course again in a little nicer weather. I found there were many blind targets as well and having the experience will certainly improve my score here.
Tip top maintenance, playability and staff
Excellent course that is beautifully maintained. The location is gorgeous and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Far and away the best course in the East County
Always a great place to test your game
I look forward to playing this course every summer, and it never fails to deliver. The course is great, maintained really well, and offers a challenge to all levels. The Resort is a great place to spend a weekend golfing and relaxing. I've been going up there for 3 years, and plan on many more trips.
A perfect day of golf.
Beautiful location, relaxing play, perfect greens, great staff!
Everything about tHe course is excellent
Met with helpful friendly staff who answered questions and gave important info about course.
A fantastic walk in the woods.
Nice course, great views, nice people!! Now get out there and hit them straight...
The greens were great, very well maintained
This was my 1st. booking with Golfnow & it went perfectly. We got out earlier than our Ttime since it was a rainy Saturday there wasn't that many golfers. The course was beauthiful. The greens were wet but played great, not to fast & not to slow. We played Foxglove for our back 9 & it was a little soggy on a few holes but that was to be expected. We had a great time.
Great place to play
Course was in great shape were treated great ,What more can you ask for. Deer running around, life is good
Quiet environment, 27 holes design, good for family golf
Excellent golf course, either challenge or friendly tee for your choice. 27 holes design that good for whole family golf that no rush for everyone. Enjoy the excellent environment!
Beautiful course, well maintained, really friendly staff. Very impressed.
A great course with views that are fantastic. Really enjoyed the whole experience!
Scenery was great.
We played Pine Cone and Thistle. Thistle was more fun for us as it isn't just straight. Several of the holes are dog legs. The course was very well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The busy time hasn't arrived yet so we didn't feel rushed. Had a great day and will be back.
My new favorite course! Came up this past Sunday and went back to play again 4 days later. It is a short 38 miles from Portland and awesome.
The 3 courses are all great. The staff (all of them) is awesome. Very friendly. The course is fantastic. Best greens I have played on for a long time. Fun, challenging and in super shape. I will be back very soon!!!
Thanks!
Beautiful spot
The course was in great shape for early spring. I love playing here. The setting is just beautiful. The 3 different 9 hole courses are nestled in a valley with steep mountain walls on either side. The course is lush, challenging and fun.
beautiful setting
Good course, beautiful setting. Too many people on the course, and greens were SLOW, but a good round.
Beautiful course!
Only 40 miles from Portland, this course is 5-10 degrees cooler and well worth the drive. Foxglove is bordered by the Salmon River & has wonderful river views. Staff is friendly & professional. Welches has several nice restaurents, including the Resort's.
This course is in great shape.
