The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Easier to play for beginners
Overall the course was in great shape. Only issue was the pace of play. A lot of waiting.
Never on Sunday.... especially when they have an outing scheduled
very disappointed...
woke up Sunday am and wanted to ;play a round.. sae the Golf Now ad for here... I know thew course is fairly easy so booked 10:52 tee time. Right before we were to tee off, the started telles us, "There is a shotgun starting time at 1:00 for an outing so you need to get to #10 before 1:00 or you will lose your place." Two hours and 8 minutes to play none on a sunday with slow players in front of us? Not possible.. played ywo holes .. which took almost 35 minutes because we had to wait for groups in front of us playting scatter golf... I requested a refund. They understood completely and told me I had to contact Golf Now... which I did and supposedly a refund is in the works. Just do not understabd why they rtried to get in any tee times past 10:30 (or even 10 :00)... Will NEVER play there again on a sunday... Just wich I had known BEFORE booked it so I could have gone elsewhere...
Better than average public course and very good value.
Course was in very good shape (especially the greens). Probably more challenging than most public courses. Pace of play was slower than expected, but may have reflected unusually bad play by my partner and me and surprisingly slow electric carts. (Others complained about slow carts, too!) Having said that, this was nonetheless a terrific value for the money ($18 pp for weekday afternoon in October. Much nicer than average "19th Hole" facilities.
Always in Amazing Condition
Shannondell is alwayas in great condition. The fairways are lush and the greens are almost perfect.
The only drawback of this course is that it has a LOT of doglegs.
9 to be exact which can be challenging.
But it is still worth playing. I just heard that they may close the course due to the township owned land being turned into a YMCA.
This course offers something for everybody
The course offers a challenge but will not overwhelm the weekend golfer. The course is well maintained and a real value for the money. I often play here often, the pace of play is good and get the round in under 4.5 hrs
You'd better bring your A game!
Course is narrow but fair. Not the type of course you can spray all over the place and still shoot in the 80's! I don't recommend it for the high handicapper although it is a short course! Anyone below a 20 handicap will not need driver!
