The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

2nd time here in 3 weeks
Course is in great shape. Greens are somewhat fast. You really need to be below the hole. No water on the course and no cart girl. Great value for "HOT DEAL". Will come back again.
Pace of play is always an issue
Conditions were good. Course is in good shape. Greens were very good. Staff was friendly. As stated in most reviews pace of play very slow. No marshal to be seen.
Perfect Day
Nice day for golf. The starter paired me with three other.players. Had a good day playing with them. Some of the traps need TLC otherwise the course was in decent shape. I will be back.
Enjoy. the round
Was able to book the round two hours prior to tee time. As a single I played the round. Under three hours.
Great conditions
Wonderfully friendly staff, tee boxes, greens, and fairways all in excellent condition
Pace of Play
The course is beautiful. One of my favorites that I’ve played in my 2 years of golfing, but if you’re booking a tee time and see them stacked 8 minutes apart, just pick another course. We teed off 20 minutes late and the starter told us the group in front of us didn’t show, so it should have been more like 30 minutes late. Then we waited at every tee box for the group in front of us. We were hoping to get a full round in before the sun went down and ended up getting through 12 holes in 4.5 hours. Hopefully they actually read these reviews…
A good challenge
This course is always in good shape. The grounds crew does a good job keeping it up. It is usually crowded and it was the day I played. There seemed to be a lot of beginners playing based on how far right of the fairways the drives were going. My playing partner suggested that it’s probably college students. He also said that the crowds are less if you tee off between 12:30 and 1:30.
Busy with difficult pin locations
This is a course I played often last summer during the weeknights, decided to play this past Sunday. The course was very crowded and we were nearly hit with 6-7 shots from other groups. The course layout is decent, although the holes are very tightly packed next to each other, making it easy for a mishit to find another group. The staff was friendly and the bar had good food/drink. The course condition was in good not great shape, but the pin locations were heavily pushed to one side of the green, usually leaving 2-3 feet of space if you were short-sided. I would play here on weeknights, but for the $75 a person price tag and the amount of times we were almost hit I will be avoiding playing here on weekends from now on.
