The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

I’ve lived in the area my entire life, and I’ve seen this course go through several redesigns and I can tell you that this is one of the best conditioned courses in the area, and at a tremendous value. And one of the top three walking courses in the region.
We are blessed to have many, many good public courses in Montgomery County and it may not have been designed by a renowned golf architect like Flynn or Ross but it’s an enjoyable day of golf on a well-maintained, challenging layout, what more could you ask for?
Better when not crowded
Course is in good shape. Greens are small. 2 or 3 shared tee boxes. The course is layed out in a small space. A lot of balls and golfers crossing fairways and shooting from other fairways. Pace of play was slow. A lot of singles and twosomes. If you don’t play regularly it’s not easy to figure out the layout even with GPS. Several dog legs that were 175-200 tee shots. Many players seem to bomb it and just play from other fairways
Great Course, Awful pace of play.
Conditions were great, greens were rolling nice and the fairways were beautiful. But no exaggeration we had to wait 20 minuets before every hole and shot. Please put a Marshall out there to manage pace of play. I have never played a round this slow, disappointed I paid this much to watch the two groups in front of us hit the ball 20 yards per shot. I am always a patient person but we left after 13 holes because it was unbearable
Left and Right
Be prepared to have some strategy on this course. Plenty of dog-legs. Nice course.
Pace of play
Played this course as a 2 some, was the 2nd group out behind the “regulars”. Had to wait for their 2nd-3rd shots the entire round. Would not let us play through. Would not play here again because of this.
6 hour round of golf
Have played here many times, but at a certain point the pace of play just makes this course unplayable. Expect a 6 hour round on the weekend (like I just had), tee times not spaced apart well and a course with no ranger or marshal to make sure groups are playing at an acceptable pace.
Okay course
The course itself is well maintained and has plenty of ball cleaners, trash cans, and out houses. Maybe it was the windy conditions but we had so many close calls, almost getting hit by other golfers' shots. The holes are packed pretty tight so wayward balls were a constant. The club house is not close to the 10th hole so it's not convenient to grab a quick snack coming off the front nine. No driving range which to me is a negative.
Not terrible
Greens were decent fairways were soggy not bad for the price. No range and lots of dog legs.
