Opened in 1929, Maplecrest Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Kenosha County. It is conveniently located a surprisingly short drive away from Chicago's northern suburbs. This challenging public course has long been a favorite amongst locals both for the playable design and the affordability. The golf course is relatively flat although there are a few subtle contours that can cause some tricky uneven lies. Watered fairways and fast greens protected by bunkers provide the bulk of the course's challenges though it is still quite forgiving if your shots are slightly errant. It is a course that beginners can approach with confidence but it still has plenty to offer for more advanced golfers. One good example is the difficult green on the sixth hole, which stands out as one of the toughest in the area.

Bunkers needs sand , it’s was kind of dry ,but over all great course . And for the money very hood
Nice course!
Found this gem in southeastern Wisconsin thru Golf Now. It was a deal and love the long fairways. Course was in very good condition especially since we are in a drought. My group had a good round and definitely will go back.
Overbooked and pace of play
The condition is very bad and pace of play was horrible. 3 hours for 9 holes. If I go back it will be to use the range only. Buyer beware.
Get what you pay for
There’s a reason why you can play 18 holes with cart for less than $25. The course conditions were horrible. They definitely don’t have a sprinkler system because all the grass was brown (rough, fairways, and greens) and this is early June. There was no difference between the rough and the fairway(see pic. Left side of red line is rough and right side is fairway). Lots of lost balls even just off the fairway due to poor sight lines, color/grass contrast, and how close a lot of the holes were to each other. I usually only lose 1 ball a round and this time I lost 11. Which really brings total cost of playing here in the normal price range for MKE area.
Not much for food options in the clubhouse. Brat on roller like at a gas station or frozen pizza was it. Decent prices on beer.
Only nice thing was not many ppl on course, so you could play at any pace you wanted. Staff was friendly and wasn’t sticklers for tee times.
Nice course good price
If you don’t mind the drive to Kenosha it a fun course. Most holes play up hill a bit so makes for some challenges on an otherwise open course greens are ok true but slow
Best value around
I play here a lot and it doesn’t get old. The course is well-kept, the staff are good guys, and the fairways can be forgiving but it’s still challenging. I like it because there are many holes where you can let it rip with your driver and still be okay on a mis-hit, but some require precision shots.
Worst time EVER
This course need ownership the owner is a @@@hole to people
They and to bar lady who was new.
Friendliest Course around
I play this course almost every Sunday with my best friend. Great layout, and the friendliest staff around.
Quiet, nostalgic course
Enjoyed playing this course. Greens and tee boxes were well maintained. Clubhouse is like going back in time. Very nostalgic. Friendly staff and quick pace of play.
Classic old school layout, conditions marginal at best
This is an old school course built almost 100 years ago. If the course had a larger budget and could improve course conditions, this would actually be a great course. Small greens and tree lined, the course is relatively short by todays standards. At times I couldn’t tell the difference between the fairways and rough. Weather has been perfect in the last week so maybe they’ll mow down the fairways. I can’t complain much as I found a hot deal on golfnow which I imagine is how they’ll get people to play here. Unfortunately, I imagine the course just doesn’t have the resources to improve conditions so you’ll get what you pay for.
That would be great if someone had some generous donation to improve this course as this layout has some great potential and guarantee you could charge close to $80-100 per round with improvements and course conditioning.
Lost balls
The second cut is too thick, if you don't hit the fairway, good chance you're gonna lose your ball. I has several decent shots just off the fairways and could not find the ball. You almost have to be right in to of it to see it.
Shaggy
I've been playing this track for over 35 years.
I never seen the greens this slow or the fairways this long. They were cutting the fairways as we played. I would imagine this course gets most of its workers from out of school, kids. I play this course cuz the greens are usually fast and in Nice condition. I will try them again in June.
