Christmas Mountain Village - Oaks Golf Course
About
The Oaks Golf Course at Christmas Mountain Village was carefully carved from the rolling hills of Wisconsin Dells. The Oaks is the 18-hole course and it is joined by the nine-hole Pines Course. The names of both courses are indicative of the mature woodland landscape you will find on each. The championship Oaks is a challenging but straightforward layout. You can play it well the first time you play it, so long as you are able to keep it in the short grass. Strategically placed sand traps come into play along many of the greens and there are water hazards on four holes. One of the most memorable holes is the 14th, an uphill par 4 that has three towering oak trees on the left side of the fairway that cause a blind shot to the green.

fun in the Dells
I play this course several times a year and never tire of it. Not overly long...fine with me at 61 years...but 4 sets of tees let you pick yer poison. Back nine looks easy, but plays tough...target golf!!! Scenic layout...elevation changes...some water...LOTS of trees. My only knocks are: tourists (resort golf) don't do a good job on greens...many unrepaired ball marks, and greens keeper won't mow fairways to the greens...20+/- yards rough tween fairway and green. That's the number 1 gripe I hear from locals and members
Dells
Front nine of the oaks course not available so played the pines instead. Course in great shape. Greens were wonderful; moderate speed and moist enough to hold shots.
Great course in great shape
This is a great course in the WI Dells area. Pace of play was great also. Would play it again.
Worth playing one time
The Oaks course at Christmas Mountain was interesting, if a little disjointed. Combined, as it is, with a ski resort, it offers some striking views that translate into strange golf holes. The 10th is a good example, featuring a steep drop from the tee to the landing area. Sight lines are often difficult to follow, especially for first-timers. And there are some hidden water hazards, like the one on the 9th, which can easily catch you unawares when you play it for the first time. Off-line shots are, in many cases, guaranteed lost balls, so bring plenty, preferably of the recycled variety. Otherwise, plan to add a few bucks to the already moderately pricey fee.
Overall, I would recommend playing it one time, especially if you can get a good price through Golf Now or some other special. I'm guessing the course condition will be much improved toward summer, after the course gets some heat and sun. It was showing the effects of the harsh winter when we played it (mid-May).
Greens were great!
Course is well maintained for sk early jn the year! You need to be accurate off teebox to score well.
Xmas mt cold day but enjoyed the course
Fairways were fair, lots different elevation which I liked. We will play it again, when the weather warms a little on the ski slopes. I would recommend a cart ,tee boxes are little far apart & some steep fairways.
This course was a fun, fun time
We had a great time. It was a my daughter and myself everyone was friendly and if we caught up with groups of four they let us play through great time, great day.
Enjoyed playing the course.
Course was in good shape despite tons of leaves. The leaves made it difficult to find ball, but I guess if you would hit in the fairway, you were in good shape. Had some problems keeping in the fairway. Still a great course.
Very picturesque
This course was in pristine condition and during the peak of fall colors. The course is fun and challenging. Not a beginner course. Played slow due to two foursomes ahead of us. The greens are in great condition and played moderate to fast. I would recommend this course if you are traveling to the Dells area.
Fun course with many elevation changes.
Played the course in mid-September thus traffic was low and the pace was what you wished.
Course was in great condition.
Each hole was unique, challenging and scenic as the course ran through the hills of the resort, which includes a ski slope.
Shot placement was critical for a good score.
Course was in great shape, they even had an inch of rain the night before!!
Always like playing this course when in Wisconsin Dells. Staff is always very friendly and helpful, even to us women golfers!! Course is in great shape right now, lots of elevation changes, not too long for women, greens are large, not too much water, but plenty of sand traps. Great value for money with golfnow.com!!
Is at a timeshare resort so they do have all levels of golfers, but they do have an additional 9 hole course that most of the beginners play instead of the 18 hole course. You ride up a huge hill to hole #10 with spectacular views, really beautiful in the fall.
This is one of my favorite courses. .
It's a beautiful layout and difficult enough. Playing from the whites there are many short holes. But that doesn't translate to easy.
Rough rough conditions
I really hate to bash a golf course but this place just had too many issues. From no water in any of the on course water coolers, to hardpan lies all over the course, to dead spots and even just dirt on the greens, and finally having to follow a group of 7 with five carts, this course was just not enjoyable at all.
The course has unique and interesting features.
Over the past ten years, this course has been up-graded regularly. Booking tee times through Golfnow.com makes the course a good value. The course can play slow during the summer resort season. There are a number of uniques holes that make the course interesting.
Awesome
This is a beautiful course buy kicked my butt! Had a great time though. Went on a Saturday and it was like we were the only ones there. Didn't see the beer girl until the 15th hole though. that is my only complaint. Maybe because it was a slow day? Paid $45 for this on golfnow and was worth every penny. will go back after i get a little more practice in!
Great views but tight
This course has a lot of undulation throughout the course. Many tee shots are tight and narrow.
Great golfing for the price.
The course was in excellent condition, especially the well-maintained fairways. Pace of play was also good; never waited more than a minute or two on any hole, though our twosome was following 2 foursomes.
Our only critique is that a course of this caliber doesn't have GPS on their motorized carts. Knowing the distances to various hazards, not just the pin, makes club selection easier and the round more enjoyable.
Enjoyable experience.
The course is great shape with moderately difficult ruff and great greens. It is well maintained and the staff are friendly. Par 4s are challenging even from the front tees for senior golfers often requiring long second shots to difficult pins. You need to be having a good day here to score well. It is a nice challenge which usually gets the best of me.
