The Links at Gettysburg sprawls across rolling hills situated near the hallowed grounds where the defining battle of the Civil War took place. The golf course wages a formidable challenge itself, featuring 35 steep rock cliffs where the stone-lined tee boxes are perched and 10 lakes and waterfalls that come into play throughout. Red rock cart paths give a contrast to the lush greens and sparkling blue waters. The dramatic elevations allow golfers to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding countryside but the scenery can be almost too distracting since the demanding layout requires all of your attention. Be prepared for a bevy of strategically placed bunkers as well as mature trees. With the challenging layout and unrivaled views, it is no surprise that the Links at Gettysburg is ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in Pennsylvania.

This is a very scenic course.

This is a course that you want to be hitting the ball straight off the tee. There is a lot of trouble on this course.

Plan to play it more than once!

It is a challenging course with some visually spectacular holes -while a couple others are tough for a first timer to know where to aim and/or what club to use. We did enjoy playing the course but were also a bit frustrated that on a couple of the par 3s, the tee position were moved enough that the yardage indicated was a full club off what it actually played. Beyond that, it is a very good course and we did enjoy our round.

This course is worth $75+ a round

Played the Links at Gettysburg on July 31, 2013. The course is surrounded by beautiful homes and the clubhouse matches that feeling. Just driving into the course really set the tone for the day.

The course was beautifully scenic. The red sandstone that is visible throughout most of the course adds a unique aesthetic. Several rock walls add the extra "Wow" factor to the views from the tee boxes.

The greens were in good shape with some tough pin placements. There is a lot of target golf to be played on this course. Certain holes call for a driver, but others are so tight that a 3 wood is a better choice (even a Par 5 on the back). In fact, much of the Back 9 will challenge your accuracy off the tee.

Overall, this course is a beauty. The fact that you can find it on here during the week for as low as $24 is completely absurd. we paid $38 for our 11am round and felt that we were getting away with something illegal. It's a beautiful course worth paying full price to play.

Great course...can't beat the price on Golf now

Took my 12year old son for the first time to the links at Gettysburg,
He loved it, the deal we got on GN you can't beat it. We would have paid the same price for a local public course. Private setting for a course that is public.

Very challenging, one of the best in Central Pa.

Course makes you think on every shot, even the par threes. Undulating greens can cause some grief. Sloped fairways offer a lot of thought in the shot making. Very unique design. Must keep shots in the fairway to score well.

The Liks is a beautiful course. Challenging but fair.

The Gettysburg Links is a great course. The layout of the course is great. An opportunity to use many different clubs.
The fairways and greens were in great shape.
I look forward to playing the course again.

Immaculate Links course

(Early July 2013) this course is in perfect condition from tee to green.

Like many links courses, this challenging layout requires precision off the tee. Score well on the front nine, because the back nine is much tougher, with extremely tight landing areas off the tee, and long holes with well-protected multi-tiered greens.

You DON'T have to hit driver on every hole.

You'll do well to buy the (very nice) $5 yardage book when you check in, as most of the holes aren't "straightforward" (driver-6 iron holes) but require a "tee shot to the right side of the fairway" for the best angle to the green, or a "layup short of the right bunker", knowing how much of the dogleg to bite off, etc

I played here 6-7 years ago, so I figured I could do without the book and rely on my SkyCaddie for yardages this round. I got away with it this time, but I would have enjoyed my round more with the book. Just sayin'.

This is the kind of course you will want to play again, especially once you've gotten a 'feel' for the course.

(FYI: The range leaves a lot to be desired, though. A pack of those white rubber tees can't cost more than $10 right? Most range mats didn't even have tees, and the ones that did were all chewed up and wouldn't hold a golf ball.)

Beautiful fairways and lightening greens!!

Always in great shape no matter what time of the year. Fairways were immaculate and the greens were pristine. Staff is extremely friendly and pace is always at or under 4 hrs. Picturesque views on every hole with water on almost every hole on the back. I would highly recommend this course if you're in the area. I live in northern Montgomery county and its only a 45 min drive, just past the Penn border up route 15N.

Always a great round

While Whiskey Creek and Musket Ridge get the attention, this is the best course in the greater Frederick, MD area. The course is a great mix of forgiving an challenging holes. The biggest test are the greens. If it's pin position #4, buckle up! The course is always in great shape (though some work is occurring on #10 green) and the staff is great. If you can get a hot deal price on here, you're robbing them.

A must play if you are within 100 miles.

We drove an hour and 45 minutes and would do it again tomorrow! Links at Gettysburg is a great course. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in great shape. It has some memorable holes, including #3 which is a downhill par 3 with a 40 ft. slate wall as the backdrop. # 7 is an awesome par 5 with an elevated tee with a landing area with water on both sides. And #8 a drivable par 4 with 20 ft. wall down the right side of the fairway, which I used as a backstop. Hey, it's not how but how many, right?. You finish the day with a great par 5 finishing hole, reachable in 2 for the big hitters. The green is surrounded by another slate wall and some water. It was another great day at the Links of Gettysburg, make the trip you will not be disappointed.

The only negative was that the carts did not have GPS but the course is well marked.

Always a good experience

The Links of Gettysburg is a gem of a course. I have played this course a number of times in the past several years and have always found the course to be in excellent condition. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The greens roll very true and have wonderful contours adding to the challenge. The front nine is a bit easier then the back. Water comes into play on many of the holes on the back nine and the fairways are pretty tight. The course has tremendous scenery and makes fantastic use of the somewhat rugged terrain. Greens fees are quite fair given the high quality of this course and makes it a great value compared with courses closer in to the Baltimore/DC area. There is a reason this course gets high marks on this web site. Beautifully maintained, reasonably priced, fantastic layout makes this a must play for those in the area or those visiting the historic Gettysburg area.

Great Course but very slow play.

This is a great course but no marshals to keep play moving, we played behind 4 players who would not allow us to go thru. They had 1 to 2 full holes open in front of them and no marshals to speed them up. They had the whole course backed up.

The course has many great features.

There are several holes that have doglegs leading to an elevated green. Paar fives are great. Many stratigically placed bunkers along the course add to the difficulty. Lots of water hazzards, especially on the pair threes.
All in all the course was a great challenge for me. The course layout is great. Absolutely beautiful! I would recommend it highly.

True links features with many required carries and challenging greens.

Great staff; wonderful challenges throughout a well tended course; multiple practice areas, electric carts; in summay, a first class track. Due to many elevation changes, and occasional distances from green to next tee, I recommend using a cart. Well worth the 1 hour drive from Harrisburg; I'll be back.

Terrific Golf Course!

The course was in terrific shape when we played it. Greens and fairways both top notch. Bunkers needed some work but after speaking with the Superintendant, he stated that they were his next priority. Staff was courteous and helpfull. The course, especially the back nine, is not for the faint of heart and will test even the low handicappers. All in all, a great day on a great course.

Challenging and interesting course

This was my first time at The Links at Gettysburg, but it won't be my last! The course was in great shape and was very challenging but fair. if you kept the ball in the fairway, it was easy. But if you didn't, you were punished. There were a number of blind shots and a few holes you weren't sure where the best spot to hit was, but it never felt unfair and after playing once, those issues are gone. Also, there was a marshal roaming the course making sure everything was OK. He never once pressured us, and was very nice and friendly. We played on Memorial Day morning with a packed course and still made it around in just a little more than 4 hours. I highly recommend giving this course a try.
