Classic Golf Course at Otsego Club
About
The Otsego Club offers two 18-hole championship golf courses, the Classic and the Tribute. The courses share a beautiful landscape abundant with water, trees, and wildlife but each course offers different challenges. Built in 1939, the Classic Course, as its name would imply, has a traditional layout that is straightforward with no hidden tricks or hazards. The golf course sprawls across scenic parkland that overlooks the nearby Sturgeon River Valley. Unlike some of the long and more demanding golf courses in the Gaylord area, the Classic Course plays a mild but enjoyable 6,267 yards from the back tees. The greens are fast and the player-friendly fairways are wide and welcoming to beginners. The course finishes with its signature hole, a par 4 where golfers will be hitting from one ski slope to another.

Beautiful Views
Nice views from this course, enjoyed the lodge setting. Tough course
Great food poor goof
I was a horrible experience as the help at the bag drop did not even help unload the golf bags. Then gave us no direction as to where everything was located. If you have all day to golf then this is the place for you….we started at 11:25am. We stoped at 2:15 for a drink and grab some food( which was amazing and the staff was great). Back on the course at 2:45. By 4:30 we were only on the 9th hole so we packed up and left without completing the course as we lived 2 hours away.
Golf Diva's
Well maintained fairways and greens. Cart paths need attention. Great for ladies or the average fella. Very little water.
Great place to play.
I have played this course for almost 60 years. It is in really good shape. There is enough difficulty as I think I found not less than a dozen balls and lost one of mine. The greens were in very good shape. Great value
Great golf experience
My son and I played a round there and it was awesome. The staff was great. It was a beautiful course that was well maintained. Even though we didn't shoot our best round it was well worth the Drive from Monroe. I would highly recommend this course, the Classic.
A little maintenance needed
The greens rolled well, but some had some rot. Cart paths were in rough shape, especially around areas it meets the fairway. Very bumpy, like slow to a crawl to avoid bouncing out of the cart. Otherwise the layout is nice and challenging. Paid 55, which I would pay again if the paths were improved but it's pretty often you come across that so hard to forget.
Slow pace of play
Took almost 6 hours to play 18 on the classic no ranger in sight couple groups of 8 playing in front of us playing music so loud we could hear it a couple holes away garbage cans at every hole we're over flowing and the greens are in pretty rough shape
Fun course
First time playing. Only played quick front 9 but was very enjoyable. Greens need some work but overall fun track. Staff very nice and great views of Michigan
Beautiful course but.........
We played as a twosome and teed off at 10:10. At hole #3 we caught up to the group in front of us. They were a sixsome (if that is even a word). They finished the hole and proceeded to 4. We thought that they would waive us through but no. We played half of 4 and jumped 5 to get in front of them at 6. At the turn I asked the pro shop if they allow 6 in a group. I was told occasionally and was told a ranger was moving them along. There was no ranger to be seen our whole round. We played here 3 years ago and had the same situation. Golfers beware. Beautiful course though.
Otsego-The Classic
Thoroughly enjoyed the course. The staff were very friendly. I was disappointed as the only washrooms available were in the clubhouse. Very inconvenient as it was a hot day and we trying to stay hydrated.
Tired course
Very old course that needs a lot of grooming. Staff friendly. High price for quality.
