About

The Otsego Club offers two 18-hole championship golf courses, the Classic and the Tribute. The courses share a beautiful landscape abundant with water, trees, and wildlife but each course offers different challenges. Built in 1939, the Classic Course, as its name would imply, has a traditional layout that is straightforward with no hidden tricks or hazards. The golf course sprawls across scenic parkland that overlooks the nearby Sturgeon River Valley. Unlike some of the long and more demanding golf courses in the Gaylord area, the Classic Course plays a mild but enjoyable 6,267 yards from the back tees. The greens are fast and the player-friendly fairways are wide and welcoming to beginners. The course finishes with its signature hole, a par 4 where golfers will be hitting from one ski slope to another.

Greens were in good shape, not fast but moderate. Fairways were watered and green. Some very short holes. Some cart paths either missing or in need of repair. Several buildings on the property in need of repair.

My only complaint is with cart paths on several holes extremely rough of some of the holes. Other then that a nice course

Less than par

Played on 7/7, not paired with anyone. Only saw a couple of people playing. The staff were all very nice. Carts are gas, no coolers or GPS. No beverage cart. They were watering and mowing everywhere so a couple of tee boxes were not accessible. Some of the forward tee boxes were just placed in the fairways. The roughs were really long and you could easily lose balls even watching them land. The fairway grass was long and there are no divot filler containers on the carts. Greens were ok but some had dry patches. Bunkers were pebbly hard sand/dirt. Part of this course is ski lift/runs. There was some good scenery. Probably not a course we will play again.

There was water on the course but no cups. The cart paths on some holes are very rough need to be fixed.

Nice Up North Course

Generous fairways. First hole is a blind tee shot. Slow play. 2 1/2 hours for front nine. 3 1/2 hours for 12 holes. Need a Ranger to move slow groups.

Cart paths need help, but the fairways are good!

Greens can be kinda fast at spots and have patches once in awhile.

Back nine is a challenge!
