Stonecrest Golf Club

First time playing this course. Paired with two locals who play here often. Tough starting hole. 135 yard shot over water. Can't be short. Rest of course nice. No blind shots. Greens were good. Tee boxes had a few bare spots. Fairways were okay for the time of the year. Tried to stop in for a beer after golf but all six barstools were occupied. Lots of tables in the bar but hosteMss said we would have to sit outside. We left.

Great course Staff is fantastic. I understand it’s Florida golf, but pace of play needs to be addressed

Tees great. Fairways coming along. Greens poor. Ball doesn’t roll true… bounces along and slow. Greens feel spongy and full of sand. I guess time will tell if they firm up.

The course as in good shape.

Cart girl was excellent. There was a promo on for Ultralite and a vodka.

We were a twosome sandwiched between foursomes, The starter told us it would be slow and it was, as we waited on every shot. After more than two hours while waiting on the ninth tee for the fairway to clear, the course ranger approached us and very rudely yelled we were holding up the whole course. This guy was the rudest and most stupid person I've experienced in more than 30 years of golf. I complained in the pro shop and the guy behind the counter seemed disinterested in hearing anything, so we decided not to shop the pro shop (which we have done several times) or go into the restaurant which we had planned to do.

Course layout is quite nice but the course was not in good condition, I have played 4 other course in the are over the last month and all but one was in better condition than Stonecrest. Fairways and greens need work.

We really enjoyed this course for its layout. Hills and plenty of sand traps! This course is on the mend, but it's not quite there yet. Not sure what kind of grass is on the greens, but we never really could get a feel for them. Fairways were thin so it didn't bother us so much to just roll onto the rough. The course has been flopped for some reason, which makes the #1 hole a tough start. Our play (a two-some) was SLOW following two 4-somes which would not let us pass. It was windy and it seemed like you had the wind facing you on every hole. The 11th hole (its signature hole) was fun to play. No USB, or GPS on the carts.

I enjoy playing Stonecrest. Good design, decent conditions, friendly staff and a great value for this time of year. However, be aware that the recent spate of warm weather has triggered large amounts of poa annua on the greens. No problem if you get to play soon after mowing. If not, you can expect your putts to jump all over the place. Interestingly, there are several areas on the greens where the poa spread suddenly stops, leading one to think there was a supressant applied there. If you don't mind a bumpy putting surface at this time of year, Stonecrest may be a good choice.

The greens were some of the worst I have ever played. Weeds everywhere and extremely slow to the point you could not hit it hard enough sometimes. Also very bumpy the ball would move in either direction at any given time. Very disappointing

I was paired up with 3 very nice people who came over from the Village's. The conditions overall were very good. The fairway turf was a bit thin, but nothing unusual for this time of year. The only issue were the greens. They had some kind of unusual seedlings growing. I'm not sure what. The putts rolled okay, but slower. It was hard to judge the speed. This was my second time playing this course. And I'm sure I'll be back to play it again.
