Nice fairways - greens fair

The course is short but tight so driver really isn't needed aside from par 5's. I played tips at a whopping 6300 yards

The course appears to have been designed for golf in the early to mid 1900's and weaves through a neighborhood. I thought the fairways were in good shape but the greens were sanded lightly so I cannot really tell how they usually are. I thought they rolled pretty good considering .The course is well worth playing and is a steal if you get the hot deal- very fun to play with doglegs everywhere. Most players will need extra balls because it is a tight course. I think most of the reviews were a little harsh. I am a single digit handicapper so you choose if I know what I am saying. If I had any complaint I would say directions between holes was unclear and need marked.

Ok for the money in the area

The greens were very inconsistent some were blazing fast a few hadn't been mowed for some time, the fairways were beautifully maintained, mowed that morning during our first round. The tee boxes were well kept. All the courses in the area cost around 120 per round and 170 for an all day rate. This course is in a very large neighborhood wooded scenery and tree hazards. One water hazard towards the end of the course. The play was great some fairways break to the left and some to the right overall a good deal for the money. We did play two rounds and lost more than the usual amount of balls.

Had a great time at the golf course yesterday. Everyone was sooooo nice which made the day even better. The tuna sandwich was delicious. Looking forward to the next round.

Golfing at Lake Forest is good. May not be as challenging as some courses, yet offers enough for the average golfer. The greens were in good condition and the fairways were fine for this time of the year. We did not have to rush our game as the course was quite quiet for a Sunday.

Definitely will go there again.

THE DUFFER

Enjoyed playing Lake Forest like I always do. However, the greens are starting to get some of what I call "trash grass" on them. Putting is becoming more difficult and people will quit playing the course if the greens are not taken care of.

"Unlevel " fairways

On most of the holes, homes and out-of-bounds were the norms. So, tight squeezes made you focus on the center of the fairways, however, some of them were tilted an d ran off into some tough spots. The par-3s were all exciting with water and elevation being factors and the wind very high and twirling on the 3's.

We enjoyed our outing and will return

Good course at the GolfNow Rate

For a $15 round of golf, I can't complain at all.

With the exception of a couple of greens, putts roll true and fast. They hold on approach shots. If you stay in the fairways, the conditions are really good, but once you're out of the fairway you don't get a rough to hold you up, it's unkept tree lines, but still playable. Bunkers are soft, but fairly consistent.

Felt the course layout was good.Fairway condition was poor.Pin positions lacked player concerns. They were unfair to the player.Being a person who sets pins, it was clear to me that the person lacked player compassion.

so, you think you can read a green!

Course was in great shape, played it in 3 hours 35 minutes , layout was fair, challenging, and aesthetically beautiful. The greens are smooth, large, undulating and full of three putts. Local knowledge will tell you never get above the hole, and if you read a break, there is more than you thought as the ball goes 10 feet by. The course and staff make it worth the trip to Daphne.

Nice course but slow play.

Course is in nice shape and greens are excellent. Had a nice 15 holes and then couldn't take the pace of play any longer so we didn't play the last 3 holes.

Hidden favorite

We play this course at least once a month. Love it for the terrain, most courses in this area are very flat. Wooded fairways with hills and valleys. It's a challenging course. The course is in excellent shape and very well maintained. The greens are great! FYI, there is no clubhouse at the turn, so flag down the beverage cart. Highly recommend.

Not what I was expecting

This course was not what I was expecting. I say this in a good way. I was expecting a short course after finding a scorecard online. This course may say 6300 yards from the tips and right around 6000 from the whites. My group played from the whites thinking it would play about the same as our home course. With the elevation changes and the narrow fairways the course was a challenge to say the least. We did not score very well but I enjoyed the course and would probably play better the next time we play the course. You have to be able to work the ball both ways off the tees or hit a club that will get you in the fairway which would leave longer shots in to the greens. Fun course just wished I had played better. The greens were in good shape and was soft. The fairways were in good shape the few times I was in one. If you want a challenge play this course. The only thing I would recommend for the course is to change all of the out-of-bounds to red stakes. I made par on a few holes with my second ball after hitting out of bounds on tee shots.
