Great value for a fun course!
You can't get much better value for this course. The greens are in excellent shape and rolling very fast and true. Aside from the new renovations near the first tee, this a great course to play. Highly recommended.
I really love the layout. You still have to make the shots
and stay in the short grass. I always enjoy this course!
Great Time on the Course
This is a nice city park course. The layout includes both easy approaces & wide fairways along with several challenging holes. Bunkers in good condition, greens rolled true and decent fairways. We had fun and had a great time.
About what I expected for $15
I've played this course several times over the years and it's always hit or miss. The greens were more like browns but other than that, it was what I expected for a $15 round of golf. I played 18 holes in 2.5 hours so that was a big plus. I guess everyone else was too busy watching the eclipse!
Dis remembered
I cut my teeth on this course back in the early to late 70s. BREC should invest time and effort to maintain this course. Very bad fairways and the greens are barely puttable because they are so dry. And I played it the morning after a rainstorm that night. Next time I come home I will find another course to spend $30.00 on.
Great Place for a 2 Hour round of Golf
The course was not busy and I was able to play at my pace. Also a very good price on Golf Now if you are flexible with your time.
Aweful
Played here a couple years ago and it was pretty bad but they were doing some construction on the course. Fast forward to today and it has just gotten worse I've seen goat ranches that looked better. The greens were terrible there was more sand and dirt than grass on them. The fairways were just pretty much mowed crab grass. I got a tee time through golf now and paid $16 and it's not even worth that. Don't waste your time!
Narrow Fairways with Small Greens
For a short course (6300 yards from the back tees) this course is a challenge due to the tree lined fairways and small camelback greens. The condition of the greens were not very good as they had been plugged and sanded a little over two weeks ago. Recent fairway drainage improvements should held the fairways drain and make this course more playable in wet weather. Not the best course in Baton Rouge but I am happy to see they are trying to improve it. A good value for the money however.

Good little publicly funded course, which opened in 1924. 6,656 yards. Hosts many local tournaments. Tee-Master was great and insightful. Fairways were still growing, but played well. Rough is hardpan and some roots. Greens were heavily sanded, so no breaks; almost like putting in a bathtub. The course is what it is. Nice round. Will be back.
No grass on green
They should inform us that the greens was in real bad shape. Two puts and pickup
Cut the grass
Webb is a nice course but this year is starting off to be just like last year. CUT THE GRASS. Don't know what's wrong with BREC and why they do such a horrible job at keeping the fairways mowed.
Push carts make for slow play
The course was pretty good, and the greens seemed improved, but the pair in front us decided to walk the course rather than use a golf cart and that slowed play. Pace of play affects my game.
Also seems that after a good rain, the normal dry spots on the fairway become softer, which really helps this course. The greens were improved as well. Not bad for a 'hot deal' through the GolfNow App.
Good for $12
Decent little track, not in the best shape and greens are so so. But for $12, worth every penny,
Football Saturday
I was in BR for a game at Death Valley & wanted to play early before the game. Found Webb online & went there. They got me right out as a single (although website said "no singles"). It was 7am & not busy yet. The "early" regulars that I came upon let me go through so I played in less than 3 hrs. Course was very wet; don't know if it was the dew or they had watered a lot. Old muni so pretty flat, but interesting. There's a giant concrete storm drain that runs thru a couple holes which makes them difficult. All in all, I enjoyed it.
Webb has imporved
Seven years ago, Webb used to be in average to poor shape. Now, they have grown the rough out and the greens are real smooth. Granted, holding shots into these greens is difficult for 9 irons and longer, but that is just part of the fun. It gives a links-style challenge forcing the player to bump and run and land shots short of the green for front pins.
I think that this is a fun track for good and average golfers. There are many shorter par 4's, but some are quite challenging. The greens are small and make accuracy paramount.
