Good course, great value.
Decent course for the money. Greens were in good shape, fairways were ok. Some challenging holes but at the same time some birdie holes. Pace was a little slower - front nine had some walkers but pace picked up at the turn. Overall great day and a great course.
Very Good Value
I have played Skippack a lot over the past few years. It is one of the best values in the Philadelphia area, although it's not the most difficult public course around (except for the diabolical 13th hole). The course has several active players' leagues, a very good frequent player rewards program and a good free GPS app. Generally, the course is in very good condition, although the sand traps need some work and real sand (instead of the dirt material that Skippack (like other courses) uses as what I assume is a cheaper alternative). Having said that, the ownership makes small, but noticeable and sensible capital improvements to the course and the other facilities each year. The snack bar food at the turn is better (and faster!) than anyplace else around, with real burgers, dogs and other sandwiches and a decent beer selection. The onsite Farm House Restaurant is a much better "19th Hole" than any other course I can think of, although it can get a little crowded.
Diallo and Jeff Jackson (Brothers)
Had a good time at skippack. The course was nice and open. This was my first time out this year so it was nice to have a open course. The locating of the course was a bit farther than expected and I missed the sign to turn. We arrived on time but by the time we got situated we were late to tee off (my brother is so slow). But the starter was very considerate squeezed us in with out slowing others down.
Keep it in the fairway.
Played this on a Saturday morning in great conditions. The starter was a good guy and let us start early as a two-some. Narrow fairways on most holes with the front 9 featuring greens that are uncomfortably close to the next tee boxes.
Nicest couse I've played this summer
I try to get around to different courses each week. This is the first time I have played at Skippack and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
greens
the course was good. The greens great two tier and fat with lots of breaks.
Great shape
But slow...they were so worried about pairing people up in foursomes that they sacrificed pace
Great value for the money
Looking at Skippack from the scorecard you would immediately jump to the conclusion that it will be a breeze. However, Skippack has some challenging holes. Some of the holes are somewhat short-ish but they make up for with the contours of the holes. It was an enjoyable time.
Back 9 is really nice.
Course is kept in really good condition. Staff is friendly and food is really excellent. It is not a difficult track, but a fun place to play. The front nine is nice, but the greens and tee boxes are close to each other from one hole to the next. Honestly, too close. The back nine is different and more spread out and is also hilly. I usually play the white tees at other clubs, but played the blues here and would recommend playing from the blues when you play Skippack, short track. They usually have cheaper rates then other courses near by. I enjoyed it and would play there again.
One of the most challenging par 4s around
Skippy is a local standard dating from circa 1960. #13 is just a bear, a downhill par 4 with so many things that can go wrong. It's just difficult to block those negative thoughts out. There's been a lot of rain lately so the rough is healthy but the greens could use a bit of mowing. Several of the bunkers were flooded or washed out but that happens. The design is mostly vanilla but it's still necessary to hit the shots. At some point, they should reconcile the yardages on the card and on the signs around the course. I suspect that the tips are shy of 6000 yards and even the scorecard says so. This is the cheaper option compared to Lederach or Centre Square. Pace of play... where does the time go? I'm pretty sure it was 5 hours plus. People need to be more self aware on that point.
Last three holes too one hour 15 min to play cause your average golfer there is very slow
Nice shape just plays slow maybe need separate tee times another 5 minutes apart
Rained heavily this week
Even though it had rained mostly this week(7inches),the course was in very good condition.A few holes were cart path only. Due to the wetness, the crews had been unable to cut the fairways and the greens for a few days which meant you got very little roll on your drives and the greens were slow and a little bumpy. My buddies and I will be back to play this course again very soon, hopefully during drier conditions.
The course was in nice shape.
Nice course, in good condition the fairways were nicely manicured ans we got a great price thru golf now.com. The greens were fast and undulating.
6 par 3's. Overall our 4 some had a great time and we will be going back to play there again !
In good shape
You come to expect good things from
Skippack GC. Enjoyed the round playing as a single. Hit some volume but was allowed to play through. Finished the round in a little over 3 hours and enjoyed the condition of the course.
Early Season
It was early in the season and we had a lot of rain the past week so the course was very wet but overall the course was playable. Folks were very friendly and I would like to go back when the grass starts to green up.
Solid course, can play slow at times.
Length is not there but many small changes in green contour and many challenging tee shots make this course respectable.
Course was in Great Condition.
Have played here many times, found the course in great condition.
Friendly course
Nice municipal course you can enjoy whenever you want to play golf
great place for your money
The place is in great shape and one of my favorite places to play. Jerry Ehrlich from the Great City of Philadelphia
really nice course!
First time playing this course. Greens were recently aerated. But overall in great shape. Played after a few days of rain also. Staff was friendly, tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Will definitely be back soon!
