Good bang for the buck.
Overall the course was in good shape. The hilly terrain made for some difficult approach shots, and pin placements were in strategic areas. I'm definitely going to play the course again.
Outings, HS League and kids camp. No Starter.
Played Tuesday at 1:30. There wasn't a Starter and there were 6-7 groups (of 4-5 kids each) kids ages 8-12 going off before us. The local HS League was also waiting to tee off. We decided to tee off on 10. We played the 10th and on the 11th tee, found out we were in the middle of a womans outing. We went back to the 1st tee to plan our next move. By that time the Starter was there. He was very helpful. He told us to play holes 6 -9 and then he would see what he could do. So we jumped in front of the kids camp on hole 6 and played 6 - 9. After the 9th hole my playing partner quit. He had enough. After playing holes 1 thru 5, I returned to the clubhouse and the starter put me off on the back 9 in front of a men's league. I played the back 9 quickly and shot 5 over. The greens are in good shape, but long and slow. The fairways and tee boxes are thin and spotty. The rough is too long for the level of players (beginners) that are playing there
A fair test at less than 6000 yards
A mixture of tough holes with sideways lies and holes to score well. Tight proximity of fairways to each other. You must pay attention to other golfers if your not middle of your fairway. Nice outdoor snack area.
Don't let the yardage fool you!
Skippack is a fun and moderately challenging course. It is harder the first few times you play it because it has some blind landing areas. You will also find a lot of elevated greens to shoot at. The greens have subtle breaks in them that even after playing this course numerous times it still gets me from time to time.
Recently brought a friend out to it and we played from the back tees and he said that maybe we should have played from the whites. And the course is under 6000 from the back tees. If you are a straight hitter this course will not hurt you too much. But if you are a sprayer of the ball...it could be a long round!!
Good burgers at the turn that are grilled and quite tasty. Some maintenance could be better but all in all I recommend this hidden gem.
This course is a joke
Its slow, its crowded, bad greens, bad tee boxes, did I mention slow, only like 5600 yards....go play mini golf instead
Coursre has a good setting and staff his friendly!
Course needs some work especially some of the greens. With all the rain we have had too many bare spots. Many ball marks also on the greens.
FORE!
Narrow fairways. Never heard so many "FORE!!!!"'s. At one point 4 holes play adjacent to each other. Lot of waiting for golfers hitting ball from our playing fairway for OOB shots.
Decent course
Pace of play was pretty good but lots of areas that need more maintenance. Good starter course with some fun holes.
Good short course
Good short course played on the weekend so reason for 5 hr round. My only compliant is the tee boxes need serious work.
Very good value for the money.
A big plus is that there are no homes. Just wonderful big trees on every hole.
Golfer Beware
Disappointing in every way. Right off the bat, Skippack GC did not honor the price booked on GolfNow. Even after seeing my reservation confirmation the assistant pro (Travis) would not honor the price and was very unprofessional. He made it perfectly clear that they do not value GoflNow's service or the customers who use it.
The course was just as bad. Greens were shaggy and slow. Course was uninteresting. Tee boxes hardly had any grass.
I would strongly recommending going elsewhere. Think elongated neighborhood Par 3 course.
Nice Course. Nice setting.
I was pleasantly surprised after reading some less than stellar reviews of this place. The staff was very friendly in accommodating tee times. Club house and restaurant were both very nice looking, as was the halfway shack. The setting was also really nice. I don't believe we saw a single house on the course and most holes were partially wooded and just cool looking in general.
Course conditions were pretty good. Tee boxes would be average, as were the fairways. Greens were really nice though. If they were any faster they would be murder, due to all of the undulations. They were an average pace though which made for a fun, challenging round. All in all, it was a very good value for the money.
Easy front 9. Back 9 is one of the best in montco
Tee boxes need a lot of attention. Every white tee we were struggling to find a patch of grass to tee our balls
A Decent Course That Ends Abruptly
I've played Skippack a few times, and it's certainly an enjoyable course. The greens are always in good shape, the fairways are wide and spacious, and the grounds crew definitely is attentive to the course. I've never gone and not seen any of the grounds crew working on the course. The front nine is fairly straight forward and wide open. The back nine gets a little tight, especially on the 13th hole. It's definitely a course that makes you want to come back at the end of the day. That or pay for another 18! My only complaint is the 18th hole. It's almost like the designers finished the 17th hole and went, "Oh no, we forgot about the 18th!" and just tossed in a short par 3 to end it. It's a bit anti-climactic, but otherwise, it's one of my favorite local courses!
Nice state run course. A few holes give you a good challenge to achieve par on.
Nice state run course. A few holes give you a good challenge to achieve par on. Back nine plays easier then front.
nice course but it was february and crowded
i liked the course but it was late february and wet cart path only understandable
Decent
The course is in overall fair condition. The tee boxes are rather bare but the greens roll at a decent pace and are fairly smooth. The Front 9 is rather poor from a course design standpoint. However, the Back 9 has some very enjoyable holes. If your looking for a place to play for cheap this is a good option.
Good course for the $
This course offers a challenging experience for a really good price. While not the longest course in the area, the long par 4's and par 5's, which all seem to be uphill, play much longer than the posted yardage and place a premium on hitting the fairway from the tee. Greens were ok and fairways had branches and leaves, but considering we played in Dec. and a hurricane passed thru not too long ago it wasnt that bad. Pin placement was questionable, but slow greens made them accessible. Staff was polite and we did not feel rushed to get on the tee box. Very good course for the beginner to intermediate golfer.
Nice course Great play
I play here often. Its short but alot of fun. Real easy to get on.
Good conditions, good value
Course is not long, however the conditions are always respectable, and the back nine is very challenging for most. Great place to play on a quiet weekday.
