Riverchase Golf Club
About
One of Jim Fazio’s first solo projects, Riverchase is a surprisingly tough challenge given its lack of trees and relatively short length. The course runs through the bottomlands of the Elm Fork Trinity River and is loaded with water due to a chain of interconnecting lakes created to collect heavy rains and irrigate the course. While there are no forced carries, water comes into play at least 12 holes, and out-of-bounds is a frequent concern because of the housing community that surrounds the course.
No. 5 is the most difficult rated hole–a long dogleg right par 4 that requires a solid tee shot to be in position to reach the green in two. The approach is long and uphill into a severely back-to-front sloping green with a lake on the right and out-of-bounds and bunkers on the left.
Two holes later, No. 7 is one of the toughest approaches in all of DFW. This hole plays due south into the prevailing wind, and the elevated green has a depth of only about 25 feet. Bunkers line the back, and the slope in front is significant. Ups and downs are difficult because of the slopes in the green. Take a look at the pin placement when you’re teeing off on No. 4.
The good news is that other than out-of-bounds, the course is mostly wide open, so you’ll generally have a shot if you just miss the fairway. The only thick spot for trees is along the creek on holes 14-16.
Getting there : Take the Belt Line exit off of 635 and drive north to MacArthur. Turn right (east) and drive to Riverchase Dr., where you’ll turn left. Look for the course on the right side of the road.

Dirt or dead grass fairways
Only live grass we saw on the course was tee boxes greens or rough. Fairways were either dirt or dead grass on top of it. Won’t be back for a few months if at all this year. Course is in rough shape, but the greens were ok
Worst course ever
Never ever play this course, I’ve played golf for over 40 years and by far this is the worst condition golf course I’ve ever played. Beware all you are going to do is hit it off dirt.
Course was in "ok" shape, with some holes being a little worse than others. It was cart path only, which means you are walking! The course was pretty dry in some spots, and mud covered in others. Great value for this course! Will play again!
Fairways are not in great shape
The staff and accommodations were great. The course itself was not in the best shape. Very wet and muddy. I know this is not the courses fault but I had several good drives in the middle of the fairway and there were jeep holes that I had to head out of, probably not the best time of year to be playing this course after a rain, but for the value it is worth playing. Just difficult right now in winter/spring conditions.
Overrated and over priced
No water available on the course, was in rough shape, charged $65 to play and it’s mostly dirt. I’ve played it multiple times and it hasn’t improved. For what they charge you can play somewhere much better. Only redeeming quality is the cart girls are attentive and come by frequently throughout the round.
Slow player & cart path only
Iined up player at start teeing ground and no Marshall. ( 25 mintes late for my tee times)
Wet spot of fairways and cart path only...
Worst day for round of golf.
Greens are in ok shape but the fairways and bunkers have to be some of the worst in the DFW area. If you can play for less than $40 I would but anything north of that number is too much.
