About
One of Jim Fazio’s first solo projects, Riverchase is a surprisingly tough challenge given its lack of trees and relatively short length. The course runs through the bottomlands of the Elm Fork Trinity River and is loaded with water due to a chain of interconnecting lakes created to collect heavy rains and irrigate the course. While there are no forced carries, water comes into play at least 12 holes, and out-of-bounds is a frequent concern because of the housing community that surrounds the course.
No. 5 is the most difficult rated hole–a long dogleg right par 4 that requires a solid tee shot to be in position to reach the green in two. The approach is long and uphill into a severely back-to-front sloping green with a lake on the right and out-of-bounds and bunkers on the left.
Two holes later, No. 7 is one of the toughest approaches in all of DFW. This hole plays due south into the prevailing wind, and the elevated green has a depth of only about 25 feet. Bunkers line the back, and the slope in front is significant. Ups and downs are difficult because of the slopes in the green. Take a look at the pin placement when you’re teeing off on No. 4.
The good news is that other than out-of-bounds, the course is mostly wide open, so you’ll generally have a shot if you just miss the fairway. The only thick spot for trees is along the creek on holes 14-16.
Getting there : Take the Belt Line exit off of 635 and drive north to MacArthur. Turn right (east) and drive to Riverchase Dr., where you’ll turn left. Look for the course on the right side of the road.

Free fall!
This course has really fallen out of favor for me. I used to enjoy this course. However, after this summer and now the usually difficult winter condo rooms coming early this course has fallen apart. The grass is brutal. It is impossible to distinguish the fairways from the rough anymore. They are trying to keep the greens playable, but at the very least they need to be rolled. The $40 standard rate is just too much for the level of play. The ruts throughout the course have clearly taken there toll on the carts that are falling apart. They might be well served to just buy a bunch of SxS and ditch the standard carts all together. Either way it is time to replace their fleet. It pains me to say this; I will not play this course again until they make some vast improvements.

The course was in an okay conditions, some heavy wet spots and not well maintained sand bunkers.

Course is in bad shape
I’ve played here before, sometimes you can get a cheap deal. But now, the course is in pretty bad shape, as if an earthquake hit in the middle of the fairways. You’ll just get random splits in the middle of the fairways where the quake hit. Might even lose your ball in one of the ground fractures. I probably won’t play here for awhile.

Friendly staff, awful everything else
Course conditions are terrible, don’t listen to the weird Riverchase apologist who is probably one of the (very bad) groundskeepers. They’ve lost half the greens, greens aren’t true at all, fairways are indistinguishable from rough, and your ball is always either on concrete or swamp. There is no in between. Players here generally have very little knowledge of course etiquette and with many holes right on top of one another, you must keep your head on a swivel at all times. The characters in Mario Kart would struggle with the cart path — the only thing missing is lava. Staff are very friendly, but otherwise this once decent course has become the new Duck Creek. It needs about $4 million in course repairs before they can justify charging anything over $25 for a round.

Clouded and sprinkled rain
I likes staff asking me hurried before rain is on the way

But sprinkled just 30 minute to the end of our rounds
Enjoyed round up with wife and friends.

Great course - don’t understand the bad reviews
It pains me to see such a great course receive such negative reviews. Sure it wasn’t Pebble or Augusta -level conditions or grounds keeping, but I also didn’t pay $500 for my tee time. My hunch is that the negative reviews regarding the “concrete fairways” (totally false) and horrible state of the greens (greens are solid and consistent) are coming from the ‘country club community’ of golfers who have incredibly high standards (rightfully so). If you’re looking for a great bargain of a course that will force you to utilize your entire bag, complete with exceptional staff (thanks again Fernando and Heath!), play here!

Awful

Needs a lot of work
I played today and understand we have had some challenging rain the last few days. However, this course has so much potential. The fairways were like hitting off concrete. Sand over quite a few of the greens. The cart path was similar to off-roading on 14 of the 18 holes. As the course was cart path only you really see all of the flaws along the holes. The tee boxes were some of the saddest in the DFW area. Quite a few were completely sanded over playing from the blues. Will not come here again.

Pass this one up
The only good thing about this course was the staff. The course itself is in very bad shape except for the greens. Not sure which was bumpier, the fairways or the crumbling cart paths.

Cart paths & Fairways rough
Cart paths are in terrible shape & need repair. Irrigation ruts are so deep one has to be careful when driving a cart. Need lots of fill dirt to repair.

Great layout
Riverchase has a challenging layout that made it fun to play. However, the condition of the course is not very good. The drought this year has been terrible for the course. With all the back-and-forth holes, you will be playing out of other fairways, and they will be playing out of yours all day. It would not be fun on a busy day.

Greens Only
The greens were not bad, you can tell the city of Coppell spends no money on this course. The fairways are hardpan, the tee box is full of sand. Cracks so big you could lose a golf ball in them.
Good be a nice course will some TLC.
