About
One of Jim Fazio’s first solo projects, Riverchase is a surprisingly tough challenge given its lack of trees and relatively short length. The course runs through the bottomlands of the Elm Fork Trinity River and is loaded with water due to a chain of interconnecting lakes created to collect heavy rains and irrigate the course. While there are no forced carries, water comes into play at least 12 holes, and out-of-bounds is a frequent concern because of the housing community that surrounds the course.
No. 5 is the most difficult rated hole–a long dogleg right par 4 that requires a solid tee shot to be in position to reach the green in two. The approach is long and uphill into a severely back-to-front sloping green with a lake on the right and out-of-bounds and bunkers on the left.
Two holes later, No. 7 is one of the toughest approaches in all of DFW. This hole plays due south into the prevailing wind, and the elevated green has a depth of only about 25 feet. Bunkers line the back, and the slope in front is significant. Ups and downs are difficult because of the slopes in the green. Take a look at the pin placement when you’re teeing off on No. 4.
The good news is that other than out-of-bounds, the course is mostly wide open, so you’ll generally have a shot if you just miss the fairway. The only thick spot for trees is along the creek on holes 14-16.
Getting there : Take the Belt Line exit off of 635 and drive north to MacArthur. Turn right (east) and drive to Riverchase Dr., where you’ll turn left. Look for the course on the right side of the road.

Have more ground under repair roped off and plant some seed or put in sod..a little at a time so we don't hit off hard dirt. More sprinklers.

Need a chiropractor
Third time playing this course and has gone downhill. The carts are terrible, the cart had a quick start and gave you whiplash. The cart path were so broken that I thought the cart would break an axle. The course was so dry and cracked that it took me 10 mins to find my ball on the 16th fairway because it rolled into a crack out of sight. If you rode down the 16th fairway, it was so pitted that you need a chiropractor after the round. We thought the course was a good layout but won’t play again until they put some money into fixing the course and carts. Interesting that we saw a coyote on the 13-16 holes mid-day and was 30 yards away, not afraid of us.

The worse shape I have seen of a golf course since the old Twin Wells in Irving. Cracks in fairway were even wider than the ones in the fairways….

Course cost not bad for a Saturday morning. Had a 2some that had no etiquette so was way behind. They let us through on 10 and no problems after that. Course in OK condition. Fits the cost for a weekend morning. Would play it again.

So much potential
Nice course layout, but cartpaths were impossible to drive on & lots of singles out playing, getting slowed down by 2-somes & 3-somes. Surprise they weren’t sent out in 4 somes. Has a lot of potential if the course was taken care of little bit better. Fairways, fringe, & greens had little clumps of weed/grass growing all over it. Fairways were splitting due extreme drought which I don’t hold against them. Didn’t use the restaurant/bar but it did look nice. For $20 I paid due to hot deal it was worth it, but I wouldn’t pay much more than that until it’s in better shape.

Weather was good and less humidity.

greens like velcro
greens were terrible, like velcro, so slow and fairways were so bumpy like they had not been watered in a long time and with all the rain should not have been like that.

Greens NOT good
I judge a course mainly dependent on the green conditions. I mean it was hard to even call it a green for how unattended the greens were. I kid you not, the fairways rolled faster than the greens, and no were not comparing these to St. Andrews. I used the solo afternoon tee time to just chip every shot I had on the green. I mean the grass was that thick and the putter would not even move the ball. I will not be revisiting this course in a long time.
