Golfer Reviews
Very slow pace of play
The course has a lot of character. It is very popular and was very slow the day I played. Pace of play is largely determined by the group or two immediately ahead. I played with a course marshal who said the course is always busy and usually a little slow but it was worse than normal. He also said that the poor drainage and the wind restricting trees make it a course to avoid after it rains.
Houston golf experience
This course is challanging and very scenic. The issue we had was the golfers in general did not follow any ettiquette nor did a ranger monitor or enforce any rules. They allowed alot of singles and twosomes which slowed the play and twice golfers just jumped holes wigh nowwhere to go, slowing our game even more. Course conditions were not great. Some drainage issues
Well maintained course - excellent value
This is a well maintained course in the Northwest part of Houston with very reasonable greens fees. There are many interesting holes where club selection is critical. Most holes are surrounded by woods, so a stray drive can get you lost. I will go back there and plan to play often.
Rude at the desk
The guy at the desk was rude when I asked why the online appointment states that I paid taxes and fees. The statement also showed amount due at the course. I was charge the amount due at the course and taxes. Maybe, the online statement should say amount plus applicable taxes due at the course?
In good shape.
Under the current weather conditions the tee boxes, fairways and greens were in good shape. Keep the ball on the fairways or they will disappear in the water or foliage. Marshalls are always aware of the pace of playing and the carts are in great shape aldo are quite fast. I enjoyed my game and the surroundings.
Poor conditions
The course was in poor condition,,,,fairways, greens and tee boxes. Very slow play, It took five hours to play the round with no marshals to help speed up slow players.
Post Oak-Pine
Played Post Oak and Pine. Greens and fairways well kept and maintained. Lots of trees and shaded areas. Great place to play for the price.
Fair Course
Solid course and in decent shape. Because of the location of water/etc it would be helpful to have a GPS in the carts
Fairways in Poor Shape
Not sure what was going on bit the fairways were very rough and had a lot of torn spots and damage, no divot's but larger. Some of the greens were not in good shape and had spots where there was dirt and no grass.
On vacation
Played both the Pines and Palmetto. Tee areas, greens and bunkers need some serious work done. Greens have several different grasses growing on them. Bunkers are washed out and lack some sand. Tee areas are lacking grass and are not level. Purchased our tee time through Golfnow.com and even that was overly priced. Should of been a $30 dollar round at best. Inject some capital towards your maintenance department and get those courses into proper playing condition. Conditions will justify the green fee cost and make a more pleasant playing condition for everyone.
Play Cypress, TX- Longwood Golf Course
I like this golf course and the Staff very much.
This 27 golf complex has it all great golf and practice area. The club house is great and so is the beverage cart. The greens are very good and it is a very fun place to play golf. This golf course is a must in the Houston area.
Better but not quite there yet
I have played Longwood off and on for years. Yesterday the greens were very good, the fairways decent, and the teeing area was average. The only drawback is that most every sand trap I looked at or was in was not playable. I know with the new direction the course is taking this will be taken care of. But the traps are in dire need of both drainage and new sand.
Worth the money
Will definitely play course again. Course was in great shape and pace of play was awesome
Features
Course was recently purchased by Cypress lakes and while they bought new carts and range balls the course has yet to see any real changes. The greens were marginally better but the rest of the course needs water. It was 97 degrees and half of the four water coolers were empty. We saw a drink cart only once and that was on the fourth hole. (Bring your own cooler and water) When we mentioned the problems the staff was less than concerned. Too bad. Save your money and play somewhere else
Longwood GC
The staff was friendly, courteous, the course could use some growing in, there were burnt spots as well as soggy spots. Grass was particularly thin/wiry off of the fairway. This course requires special attention be paid as the flow is convoluted, pay attention to the signs as you may be confused as to where the the next hole is. Some holes are several hundred yards apart,
great staff
I played golf with my dad , everyone was happy. Staff was great
