Lots of watet
Played a round this morning and it was a swamp. I was not surprised as we have had a lot of rain lately. There are somethings they could do to make it a better playing experience.
1. Clean off the greens. If your staff decides to mow the greens, at least take the time to clean the grass clumps off the greens when you done. The greens aren't in the best shape to begin with but this truly makes putting impossible.
2. Get rid of the sand traps. Most of the traps have very little sand in them and have rocks in the sand that is still in them. When they are wet like they are now its like hitting off the cart path.
3. Stop mowing the fairways that are holding water. On Pine 6, they decided to mow the fairway and they mowed it down to the mud. The fairway is virtually not playable as it is now 300 yards of mud. If the carts have to stay on the cart path keep the mowers off until the water has soaked in to prevent causing more issues.
4. If you do mow the fairway, don't leave ruts from the wheels of the mowers. Its hard enough without having to play out of tire marks left by the passing of the maintenance equipment. They also need to remove the piles of grass that fall off the mower or the grass that they actually cut. There is nothing like hitting a good ball just to have it hung up in the fairway by a pile grass.
These things aside as most of this a result of lots of rain, it is a nice course to play. The staff is friendly and most of the time the pace is pretty good.
Good value for the money
I was able to get on a Friday at 4:30 for 25bucks so I can’t complain much. But the greens are pretty bad! The fairways and everything else is in solid shape though. Depending on how much you pay it’s a really good bang for buck
Crest course
I enjoy this course the most because of its variety. Overall it is fairly open but there are some tighter shots. Rough is not much of an issue but you can get into trouble with trees, forcing you to punch out into the fairway. Good mix I’ve straight holes in those requiring you to move the ball a little to get the green and reg.
Getting There
This was the go to course if you lived in and around Spring, Tomball, TX area beautiful layout but over the years because of poor management dreadful weather the course fell into disrepair. I took a chance and came back to play and was presently surprised. The fairway's are back and are in fantastic shape,(sand traps still need work), greens are finally back to where they need to be (well done guys). They need to work on their directional signage going from one hole to the next. We played Palmetto and Post Oak. After completing hole 1 on the Palmetto course there are no directional signs to get you to hole number 2 and if you had no previous knowledge of the course you'd be lost as we encountered 4 different groups trying to find there way around. Need to work on the signage guys. Glad to see all your hard work is starting to pay off keep up the good work and we will be back on a regular basis.
Great course to play
I really like the course layout. It plays great! Some of the tee boxes can use some work to get the grass back. Fairways were excellent and greens rolled well.
The clubhouse has a little musty smell but overall a great place to play
Challenging!
Nice course for the money. Although the greens had been aerated and had some dry patches, the course layout provides challenges for players of all skill levels. The numerous tee boxes allow everyone an opportunity to have a great round of golf!
Good shape, slow greens
The course this morning was in pretty good shape. Some of the greens still look like they need some work done but the course as a while was in decent shape. I frequent this course and it's as good as I have seen it in 6 years. I don't like spending more than $25 or $30 out here, but its a challenging, but fun course to play. The greens are not quite smooth post aeration, but still playable. Give it another 2 weeks of rain and it should be a bit better.
Overall course was good. Signage for holes could be improved. We got off-track getting to the next hole a couple times. Cart was old and beat up with very loose steering.
Greens need help!
The pace of play was good. We saw a marshal quite a few times. Unfortunately, just about every green needed work. Bare and muddy spots on most of the greens we played. The course has a great layout and 3 different 9 hole courses are a lot of fun.
