im a regular
Look...if u are looking for an honest review, here it is. I play on this course often and on surrounding courses as well and this course is by far one of the best for the buck. I shoot around mid 80s to low 90s and the name itself does this course justice. Its pretty long and narrow. It is a very very well maintained course and can b a pretty good challenge. Ive had my ups and downs at this course so you wont find me bad mouthing or over praising it bcuz my round suggested so. Overall I give this course an 8 out of 10. Farways are average, greens are slightly above average, and pace of play varies. U will just enjoy the cart ride while exploring this course hidden a very neat and very clean subdivision. Hope I helped!!!
Better than the best day working.
Lots of water in strategic places on this course. There are holes that you will absolutely have to lay up on. There was standing water in a couple of the sand bunkers, but I was able to avoid them. Greens were faster than usual, but overall, a great round.
Not quite what I was expecting
When I pulled into the car park I was unsure which side the pro shop was located. There was a smell of septic and trash.
The round was discounted on golf now so for the two of us cost $109 plus tax. We were told which cart number to take and the course appeared to be very full. The starter was leading groups go every eight minutes. Anyone who is a golfer will know that that is not enough time to play an entire hole. We were waiting from the first Teebox till the last approach on the 18th green.
The course had a number of holes roped off which should not have been based on the condition of the course. At the turnaround point, we went into the bar area to get a quick drink and sandwich. It took so long that only two of us got served and we had to leave before other groups overtook us.
There are significantly better deals and courses out there for that much money.
Excellent day.
Other than a little damp and couldn't take carts off path, was excellent. Hardly anyone there with potential for rain.
Slow slow slow
5+ hours on a Tuesday morning. Marshals are too concerned about finding golf balls other than pace of play. If your looking for a long day on the golf course play longwood! You're guaranteed 5+ hours
Great course and value, but still working on greens
Played on a Sunday afternoon - you definitely want to take advantage of the GolfNow special prices!
Started on the Pine course, greens had been aerated and top dressed about 1-2 weeks before and were slowish and bumpy. Rest of course was in good condition.
Moved to plametto nine; greens either had not been worked on yet or had finished recovering because they were MUCH better, actually made some putts on the back nine.
Nice setting, deer will just walk right out of the trees and graze early and late, and some great holes.
I would say that the greens will be back in prime shape in about 3-4 weeks
Enjoy!
5 hour round
Way too slow. Always seems to be an issue at this course. Greens where is good shape and the course was in pretty good shape but the pace of play was terrible.
Longwood
The course is in decent shape except on some of the fairways and some of the ladies Tee boxes the grass was not mowed in spots or there were clumps of grass because they did mow frequent enough. Also 1 of the par fives was cart path only which didn't make sense and only slowed up play.
Longwood
Had the whole course to ourselves
Free lunch and 2 beverages were included with round
Book Longwood for your next round!
The staff at Longwood (especially the course attendants and greenskeeprs are the most polite and friendly that you will find. The course is in very good shape. The only one negative I would mention is that the same course attendants that were so nice should grab a tree trimmer, jump in a cart and ride the course and trim all the limbs that are hanging over the cart path. If it his the cart, remove it. A small issue to what otherwise was a great day at Longwood.
Fun Course
My son and I both liked Palmetto best. Pine was a nice challenge. We played again on Sat and still had a great time. I rained of and on, so no back-ups. Greens were aerated on Post Oak
Okay course for hackers
This is a short course routed through thick woods that places a premium on straight ball flight. The layout is fairly interesting, but if you are any better than a bogey golfer you will be frustrated by the 2-3 short holes per nine and the extremely slow pace of play given the yardage and difficulty. Each time I have been out there, you have contact with a marshall about every 3 holes or so, but they are out there solely to make sure no one is getting in any extra golf; they seem quite content to be backed up and have 4+ hour rounds on a chip and putt layout. 7 out of 13 par 4s are under 400 yards and the longest par 5 (most of which play like par 4s) is 531, so make sure your wedge game is sharp. The conditions are what you would expect for the price range, but they appear to have different schedules for green maintenance on each nine holes so the green conditions are somewhat inconsistent between nine holes. Blackhorse and Cypress Lakes nearby are much better options for slightly higher green fees, so I would only recomend Longwood if the other two are not an option or if you dont mind waiting 20 minutes in between wedge shots.
Fast Round
I have not been to this course in a while because it often takes far too long to complete a round. On this day I was able to complete the round in a little less than 3 hours. The overall conditions were good, but the greens were a little long. My only concern was that in June the water on the course was warm and stale.
Be Straight
Nice course. It helps to hit the ball straight here, but you can occasionally be offline and find your way through the hole anyway. There were a couple greens on the Post Oak course that weren't in great shape, but the rest of the course and greens were in very good condition. Played in 4 hours on a Sunday afternoon, so the pace of play wasn't bad. Overall, a very nice course, but they've recently increased prices since being bought by Triumph. I'll only be playing there when I can get a good rate on GolfNow.
Long wood is good value
Excellent course and conitions. Some greens being sanded, but that is just part of maintenance
Highly recommend
Course layout has always been a good test of your golfing skills... New ownership has radically improved course and facility conditions
Germangal
Love the layout of the course but sadly the course needs some work. There are some dead spots on the course large devits/craters. Still had fun but have seen the course in better condition.
Decent
Pretty staff. Some tees were hard as a rock. I would recommend this course specially for 16$ from a hot deal.
