Well maintained course - excellent value
This is a well maintained course in the Northwest part of Houston with very reasonable greens fees. There are many interesting holes where club selection is critical. Most holes are surrounded by woods, so a stray drive can get you lost. I will go back there and plan to play often.
Rude at the desk
The guy at the desk was rude when I asked why the online appointment states that I paid taxes and fees. The statement also showed amount due at the course. I was charge the amount due at the course and taxes. Maybe, the online statement should say amount plus applicable taxes due at the course?
In good shape.
Under the current weather conditions the tee boxes, fairways and greens were in good shape. Keep the ball on the fairways or they will disappear in the water or foliage. Marshalls are always aware of the pace of playing and the carts are in great shape aldo are quite fast. I enjoyed my game and the surroundings.
Poor conditions
The course was in poor condition,,,,fairways, greens and tee boxes. Very slow play, It took five hours to play the round with no marshals to help speed up slow players.
Post Oak-Pine
Played Post Oak and Pine. Greens and fairways well kept and maintained. Lots of trees and shaded areas. Great place to play for the price.
Fair Course
Solid course and in decent shape. Because of the location of water/etc it would be helpful to have a GPS in the carts
Fairways in Poor Shape
Not sure what was going on bit the fairways were very rough and had a lot of torn spots and damage, no divot's but larger. Some of the greens were not in good shape and had spots where there was dirt and no grass.
On vacation
Played both the Pines and Palmetto. Tee areas, greens and bunkers need some serious work done. Greens have several different grasses growing on them. Bunkers are washed out and lack some sand. Tee areas are lacking grass and are not level. Purchased our tee time through Golfnow.com and even that was overly priced. Should of been a $30 dollar round at best. Inject some capital towards your maintenance department and get those courses into proper playing condition. Conditions will justify the green fee cost and make a more pleasant playing condition for everyone.
Play Cypress, TX- Longwood Golf Course
I like this golf course and the Staff very much.
This 27 golf complex has it all great golf and practice area. The club house is great and so is the beverage cart. The greens are very good and it is a very fun place to play golf. This golf course is a must in the Houston area.
Better but not quite there yet
I have played Longwood off and on for years. Yesterday the greens were very good, the fairways decent, and the teeing area was average. The only drawback is that most every sand trap I looked at or was in was not playable. I know with the new direction the course is taking this will be taken care of. But the traps are in dire need of both drainage and new sand.
Palmetto / Postoak
Course needs to be maintained better (sand traps, watering). Sad to say not an Arnold Palmer Course any more.
longwood golf
great course, excellent layout, plenty of trees and hazards, very demanding but fair course, greens could be faster though
Worth the money
Will definitely play course again. Course was in great shape and pace of play was awesome
Features
Course was recently purchased by Cypress lakes and while they bought new carts and range balls the course has yet to see any real changes. The greens were marginally better but the rest of the course needs water. It was 97 degrees and half of the four water coolers were empty. We saw a drink cart only once and that was on the fourth hole. (Bring your own cooler and water) When we mentioned the problems the staff was less than concerned. Too bad. Save your money and play somewhere else
Longwood GC
The staff was friendly, courteous, the course could use some growing in, there were burnt spots as well as soggy spots. Grass was particularly thin/wiry off of the fairway. This course requires special attention be paid as the flow is convoluted, pay attention to the signs as you may be confused as to where the the next hole is. Some holes are several hundred yards apart,
great staff
I played golf with my dad , everyone was happy. Staff was great
If you have 5 hours + to play this is your course
First time here. The staff were nice although not extremely excited. We were a twosome and our tee time was around 10. When we got to the first tee the course looked ok, nothing superb but fairly well kept. We started with the hole 1 being completely empty, the group ahead of us was a three some and were already on the second shot of the second hole. By the 4th hole we already were slow in pace... they have clocks on every other hole to check your play time and we were already 10 minutes behind. Remember, we were a twosome. By the end of the 9th hole we were almost 2 hours and 20 minutes into play... we thought maybe we were to eager. So we went to the second round and all of the sudden we where behind a foursome. This probably happend because they have 3 courses wuth 9 holes so they conbine them. This was killing us. After 4 holes we decided to skip a hole and pass the foursome that were just teeing of on the 5th hole. What a surprise, we got to the next tee to find a twosome, waiting on another two some to finish putting a par three. We said hi maybe expecting something like you guys want to join us and finish with us as a foursome, but we didn't want to push it, so it never happend. By then the next group (the foursome) already got to us. They said, are you sure you are on the right hole. We said we were behind them but wanted to skip them a hole thinking that we were faster due to the fact that they were 4 and we were 2. Not very friendly people, by the way. They told us that this is normal pace here. That if we wanted faster we would need to play at 4 pm when no one was here. We decided, oh well, let's wait. The whole next to us was a par 5 and it was empty, don't understand why because we where super cramped up. Any way, we decided to play this par 5 in the opposite direction just to have something to do in the mean time. We came back to the hole later, played it and oh surprise, we cought up to the foursome again teeing off the next tee. By then we decided to call it quits. Headed to the club house, got there, looked at the clock and it was 2:43pm. 4 hours and 43 minutes after our tee time and we didn't even play the last 2 holes. My whole story goes for the marshals and starters to please do their job and plan the groups so everyone can go out, hit a round of golf and maybe make it to supper at home, the same day. Horrible experience.
Excellent test of Golf
It's been 10 years since I last played Longwood -- my how time flies. The course seemed to be in the best shape that I had ever seen it, with a lot of previous rough spots ironed out. greens on Palmetto had been punched by Pine rolled well, if a little slow just for the course to protect from over cutting in mid-summer heat. Traps were in good shape. The course is very playable overall, requiring decent, not great shots, but it's easy to get in trouble quick if you are errant in the woods. Great day of golf.
Way over rated.
Marshals pushy and impolite. Losing money so prices went up. Course is in poor shape. Played here almost every week for two years. Fairways are hard and dry. Greens grainy. I will not go back. Many other better deals in the area. Better courses and prices. Look elsewhere.
