Golfer Reviews
Wonderful layout
Excellent golf experience. Course was in great shape tees to green. . Excellent golf Marshall. Tough and challenging layout. Back nine especially tough and great views.
Good course, fun day, bumpy greens
Playing here always feels like a treat. The staff are very nice. The COVID-19 restrictions limit you to using the range only 15 minutes prior to tee off, durn. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in quite good shape. The weather was nice but breezy. The course is always engaging. The bunkers were in pretty good shape. Oddly, the greens seemed suboptimal, perhaps the winter was hard? If you fret about your score, you may find the course devilish right now, mostly taketh. Still, the greens were receptive and even held my wife's hybrid approach on #13 for her tap-in birdie, sweet! A go-to non-driver tee shot would have been handy. This course lets you leave life's burdens behind...at least for 4 1/2 hours. It's always enjoyable at The Ridge!
Bad Front, nice back
the front nine on this course is so weird it almost makes you not want to play the back which is nice 9 holes. Not worth the money and i belong to a very nice club and play to a 5.
Crash course
Teed off at 1:24 knowing we'd get 12-13 in. Heard 13(HADES) the par 5 was turned into a 3 due to conditions. Good. Eagle it last time don't know of I ever want to play it again. 11tee car drove across course and crashed into house about 250 or so off mid tees. Yes it happened. Cops, fire the whole works. Stuck around then finished thru 12 before dark. What a day! Great place
The Rudge, best daily fee course in Denver
I play The Rudge as often as I can. It plays like a country club course, with service and amenities to complement the course. I recommend this course often
Lovely layout in very good shape
The Ridge is a well designed Par 71 by Weiskopf. The course is aptly named as it plays at elevation of over 6000' with lots of elevated tees and rolling fairway. The course actually looks more formidable than it plays, at least from the middle and forward tees. Recent renovation of sand bunkers a big improvement. Friendly staff. Not a good course to walk, due to lots of hills and occasional long distance from green to next tee. Nice practice facility with range balls included with greens fee. Nice view from patio for after the round.
Love this course
Always enjoy golfing here. Some challenging holes for sure but, lots of fun. Play from the tips on 18 for a super tee box location to finish the round.
Punched Greens
We each paid +$100 for a round of golf on greens that were punched two days prior. We could not put. There was no advertisement or mention of this when we booked the tee time. It has been, currently is, and expected to be in the 80’s and 90’s for the next three weeks. There is no need to punch this early, and if you do it should be communicated to the golfers.
High expectations
It's hard to give a bad review because the course is in pretty good shape. Staff was friendly. My petpeve are greens that are hard. It's just hard to hit PW 80 yards in the air basically straight down and watch a ball role out 20 feet. Or spin the heck out of it to see it bounce high and role out. Just one of those things that drives me crazy.
Nope
This course used to set the high standards around the Denver area. Its been a few years since I've played here and I don't know when it went downhill. The course was not close to being in immaculate condition, which it used to be all the time. Maybe they have water restrictions this year even tho there is plenty of water in the State. There is no drinking water to be had at any hole, although they do provide single use plastic bottles to drink from (huge disappointment for anyone trying to help the planet). The ball washers were all bone dry. The towel buckets are bone dry and full of trash, I think because the employees want to try to make some extra cash washing your clubs at the end of the round. The carts are just carts, no GPS, not washers....GPS is pretty standard at any course these days, not this one. There are far better courses in the area for far less cash. This place needs new management or something. A shame this course isn't being run to its potential.
Great course!
Always enjoy playing this course. One of the best layouts in the area. I think it’s a little pricey but if you can get a Golf Now rate it’s a great deal.
5hr 10min round
Played 18 at 1:50pm on Friday, was incredibly slow. We ended at 7pm. Never again...
Challenging day at the Ridge
This course was the 4th stop on our group's Denver trip.
The first thing to say is that the staff was extremely friendly, both in the pro shop and in the restaurant. Our group (and me personally) is always seeking out Troon courses wherever we play, and yet again we were not disappointed.
The conditions were superior. The one criticism would be that the greens were so firm they would not hold anything. Even when hitting a perfectly flush gap wedge off the fairway, the ball would bounce and roll out 30-40 ft past the landing spot. This made approaches and chips very difficult. This was frustrating on the downhill par 3s on the back 9. On the flip side, the greens were a great speed and rolled very true..
The layout is challenging and pretty fun. There are some opportunities to hit things besides driver off the tee, which I always appreciate. While I enjoyed the course very much, I can't say any particular holes stood out to me. #10 is super tough off the tee... like driving down a bowling lane.
In general, the scenery is lovely, but there are a good number of houses surrounding the course. That didn't really bother me, but I know for some people it ruins the experience.
This is a very nice course and worth playing when you're in town.
Great Course
If you like beautiful couses in great condition with a very friendly staff, you'll like this course. Not great for beginners though as it has a lot of trouble , surrounded by Ponderosas, scrub oak and water hazards. Greens are firm and fast with plenty of slope, running 11 on the stimp meter.. One of my favorite courses.!
