Nice Course; But no Marshall
Nice layout; friendly cart girl; Wish there was a marshall; we had to wait for the guys ahead of us, who jumped a hole on the front nine to get in front of us.
GREAT COURSE
The course was in great condition and for a Sunday the pace of play was good.. The food was good but the bartender was not not very attentive. I would recommend a weekend trip to play the course to everyone.
Elephant Rocks
Course was in great shape and greens were excellent with good speed. A must play if in Flagstaff area.
Great condition!
The course was in near perfect conditions. Tricky fast greens. I understand a new super took over within the last year or so and in my opinion is doing a phenomenal job on the course. Club house staff was awesome extremely helpful. Was well worth the drive up from the valley.
Fun course
Really enjoyed the round. Golf course is interesting as both mines are completely different and challenging
Great course and could be excellent with a few tweaks
This is my second time playing this course. I enjoyed it both times. The course is in amazing condition, with a very interesting layout. Greens run through. Staff was pleasant. It was a reasonable value for the price paid.
Having played it twice, there are two adjustments the course could make that would truly take it up to the next level.
1. focus a little more on pace of play The only time I have seen a Marshall, he was much more concerned about yelling at us for driving 2 feet onto a forbidden native grass area by accident, that he was about the slow play due to people spending 10 minutes looking for lost balls. My most recent round there were no marshals to be seen, and one group in front of us actually bugged out at hole six and made it a short nine by dropping into a gap created by golfers who weren’t playing ready golf
2. It’s obvious that this was originally a nine hole course, and then a second nine holes were created to the south. The problem with these newer nine holes, is they were made with no consideration whatsoever for the beginning player. There is literally a forced carry of 50 to 100 yards from the Teebox on every hole. This is not a big deal for me, but for my wife who doesn’t hit the ball that far it’s a true challenge. This is reflected in the slope and rating, which is the highest I’ve ever seen for a women’s tee on a non-PGA course. It would not be a difficult thing to place another tee box at the beginning of the fairway on all of these holes, which should make this much more enjoyable for the player who can’t carry the ball 100 yards or more.
Great Course
I played this course 6 years ago and after playing the course for the second time, I was very pleased with the friendly staff, course condition, and greens. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone.
Nice track, great value
Nice track with very friendly staff and guests!, all set in a beautiful area. The course was in great shape and had a great pace of play.
Very nice course
First time playing this course. Pace of play excellent, staff friendly, course was challenging and in great shape. Nice to see a young female working the carts and cleaning your clubs at 18
Nice Mix of Holes
My girlfriend and I played this course with friends for his birthday. We traveled to Williams to play, and stayed in an Airbnb both nights. We played both Saturday and Sunday. The Airbnb was about 5 minutes from the course, which was great for an 8:10 tee time Saturday, and 11:10 tee time Sunday.
Overall, the course is in good condition. Some of the greens were brown in locations, and were fairly fast. The rough is pretty long and "rough", and there's a good chance you won't be finding your ball--I guess that's why they call it the rough.
Some of the fairways were relatively narrow, but others were fairly wide and forgiving, giving it a nice mix. A couple of the par 3's have water in play, either requiring you to hit over the water, or to keep it away from the water. We played the white tees, and I felt the course played fairly long, with some long par 4's.
They clearly save the most beautiful hole and view for last on the 18th tee, taking in the beauty of the area, and featuring a beautiful view of parts of the course.
At $70, this is a nice escape from the desert heat, in a great little town. We will certainly return.
All good
Very windups that day..course is fun many challenges
Good deal on golf now too!
This course designed well.
The course was designed with amateur in mind. Very straight forward with trees along the fairway.
Galeforce winds and 4-5 groups on one par 5 - not good...
It's unfortunate to share this post, but it is simply true. The wind at this course is brutal, and I mean brutal. There were sustained gusts between 30-40 mph and that is just not golf weather.
While there was a new ranger on the course, nice dude, we had one group who teed off about 11:00 or 11:10 that should have been "introduced" to a cattle prod. We had 4 or 5 groups on each of the par 5 holes (4) b/c of one really lousy foursome. That cannot happen if you want to offer any value with your golf course.
It's a small town course, reasonably cheap green fees and really nice staff, but without any Ranger's managing pace of play, you have a really painful experience.
I won't be back....
