New member thoughts
My wife and I had been shopping around for golf course memberships and recently ended up at Prairie Highlands. The golf course is really well kept, and has plenty of challenging holes - without being gimmicky. There are multiple holes that force you to think hard about your tee shot rather than just mindlessly grabbing the driver. Accuracy off the tee is very critical as the rough is extremely thick in certain areas, and some of the fairway bunkers are deep enough where your only play is to chip out. Greens are fast and break pretty true, and members/staff do a good job of fixing ball marks. The course plays 7100 yards from the tips, 6300 from the blues, and 5700 from the whites, so there's a lot of variety there as well.
The club house is pretty plain, but I've been told they are looking at renovations in the future and expanding it. I just hope that doesn't raise dues too much as it is EXTREMELY affordable at the moment for the quality of the course. 9.8/10.
Great Value, Awesome Layout
Awesome day of golf at PH. Course is in great shape, except for the sandless bunkers.
Generally good but....
I like this course . Has some unique holes and the layout is fun. Tee boxes and greens are in good shape. Some rough spots on fairways and sand bunkers are a disgrace. Should decide if they are going to keep them or just plow them under and put sod on them.
Overall a good day but could be better.
Bad traps
course was in good shape except the traps. They are so bad that they need to just be filled in!
Fun course
Enjoyed the course very much.
I completely recommend
Great Life is bad for golf
This course was a favorite for lots of years. Then Great Life took it over. Filling bunkers with pea gravel and marking it ground under repair...really. Not one playable bunker on the entire track. They are going to ruin golf in KC. Very disappointing
Good deal
Look for the deals and this layout is one of the best in town- very fun course! Greens were ok/good rough was thick and all bunkers are GUR
Still disappointed
This was once a top course to play for me now I try it every year when I believe conditions will be good. Bunkers still unplayable for the fifth or sixth season ... I've lost count. They've also cut back to 3 tee boxes. Two are too hard for the average golfer and the silvers are for seniors and too short to allow driver for our group. GPS in carts don't work. And several cart path areas collapsed.
Bunkers are terrible
Love the layout! Always have! They have new owners, so hopefully the bunkers are going to get works on! Right now it is basically dirt, so you have to drop out to the nearest point. Greens were fast, but need people to repair ball marks!
Disappointed
The fairways were in rough shape with large areas of no grass. The pace of play was very slow and the course marshalls were useless. Two of the three marshalls I observed appeared to be more focused on playing golf then helping with slow play. One marshall actually played around our twosome as we waited for a very slow thresome to finish #17.
DUMP CITY
An absolute embarrassment. The green fees should be free because the course resembles the range. Raggedy. The course superintendent (if one exists) needs to find a new career or go back to Mayberry. Too many other well maintained tracks around KC to get robbed playing this Goat ranch. Scrubs.

You are clearly too immature to understand the concept of the revival of a golf course. The neglect of the past combined with the awful weather this area has endured over the last year has exposed the flaws of every course in KC. With the exception of the traps, this course is miles ahead of others, especially after last winter. Have fun being miserable!
