Improved course
They have made many improvements and the course is in great shape.
I enjoy watching the wildlife as I play.
nice layout
Majors has always been an enjoyable course to play. Nice layout with a mix of easy to difficult holes , lots of water and challenges too. Practice facility very good as well. Fun course and great staff
Unfriendly ranger and poor management
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COURSE AT ALL.
1. Ranger will just stick behind your cart literally for every hole to give you stress
2. Pro shop promised to gave us rain cheque and rescheduled to another time; however they still asked us to pay when we came for the rescheduled time. They let us play eventually but this shall not happen at the first place
3. Course is well designed but condition is just so disappointing
Challenging Back Nine
Longer course that should challenge multiple levels of players. Back nine is challenging and plays with a higher degree of difficulty than the front. All the par 3s are legitimate shot making challenges.
Agree, Dog Track
Was hopeful that recent rain caused the lack of grounds care mentioned earlier. While the course was wet, indicating poor drainage, that does not account for the poor conditions. Fairways had clumps of grass clippings, from cuttings last week. Lots of heavy weeds in the rough. Tee boxes were in poor shape and overgrown. Greens were way too long, and many had sand patches. Bunkers were about 50% washed out.
Do yourself a favor and try another course.
Oh, and no masks observed on any of the staff.
Dog Track
The staff is very friendly and nice upgrade to the Pro Shop and restaurant. The golf course was in bad condition. First off, the Driving Range was closed...not a good start. Nothing was mowed in weeks--the fairways, tee boxes, haven't been mowed and bunkers haven't been raked in a long time (if they have sand). I should've brought my electric shaver so I could trim a fairway length lie, because the fairways were very hairy. The greens were chewed up by wildlife. The cups were very hairy, probably haven't been changed in over a week. The layout is cool and challenging, but this place is a total dog track. It was an Arnold Palmer design... I'm sure he's rolling around in his grave looking down on this one. Save.your.money,
Worth A Try
Very challenging layout with well placed hills, traps and very few straight put!
Most of the greens are in good shape. Fair fairways are okay with a few spots that puddle.
Clubhouse is clean and has good service.
All in all I’ll plan on returning.
Lack of water and Greens rough
My group really hates going there in the summer months. Way too hot and normally no wind. We have been playing all over east Florida and this was the first place that would not let us take our small coolers of ice and water on the course with us. We offered to show them we had nothing but water, but they could care less.We were then told we could buy water and ice from the beverage cart, but we saw it once on about the second hole and once off in the distance on the back nine. The cart girl was even told to find us on the back nine and we would buy a 6 pack of beer. Never saw her to purchase it or get water.
As to the course, the greens had several rough spots that made putting a challenge. Fairways were okay, but a lot of other areas were not mowed down or trimmed around. Not sure if this is due to staffing problems do to the low amount of play or not.
2 of our golfers were told they could not wear Under Armour or Columbia dri-fit long sleeve shirts. They had to change to play. First time that has happened in years. This isn't Bay Hill, it is Palm Bay.
2 of us checked in, went to the cart, loaded up, and then had to go back inside to get a key. The guy at the counter forgot to pass them out to us.
Great layout needs to be better maintained
This course has a great layout but the upkeep comes up a little short. The layout was both challenging and plenty of variety, unfortunately for an example the weeds were so over grown on the one par 3 just 30 yards in front of the tee that you could not even see the green! 2 of the par 5s were cart path only. The greens were smooth and fairly fast with only an occasional heat damaged portions. This course is definitely a course that would be easier to play the 2nd time when you had an idea of where to hit it.
Two and a Hlf Hours of Hot Golf
With the themometer reading it the mid nineties ant the effective temoerature in tripple digets I managed to keep my score in the double digits in this 2.5 hour round since I played as a single starting around1245 and didn't catch up to anyone during my round.
